  1. First (and sadly, the only so far!) tandem at 19. I'm 20 now. Audra
  2. I don't know her reasoning for it. That part of her life is rocky and I don't think I will get a straight answer as to why, but as Wendy said, this is one of her requests in return for funding my college. She doesn't restrict me from much other than jumping from a plane so I'm trying to respect that -- it must be particularly important to her. And yes, I am working toward a career in veterinary medicine. They did not choose it and at times have encouraged other oddball paths, but they support my decision and they are proud of my accomplishments. Audra
  3. I just wanted to thank everyone for the responses! I ordered a copy of the SIM and looked around for some other books. Are there any in particular you would recommend? Several have good reviews so I wasn't sure which ones to pick.
  4. *ahem* Um.. I'm with you on the finishing school part, but I don't have plans for a sex change any time soon. And yes, rest assured school will always come before skydiving. As much as I dream of jumping from an airplane, scalpels & surgery still rank higher than skydiving. My mother isn't the bluffing type. I don't think you'd ever hear from me again. pinkfairy & gregpso, I think you are right. I'm going to buy a few skydiving related books (and the sim) and do what I can to be prepared when I can skydive. I really appreciate all of the responses! It's helped me think through it. The last few months I've been thinking in an endless circle -- Go to skyventure! Wait, why spend money at skyventure when I can do a tandem? Why tandem instead of AFF? I can't do AFF. Go to Skyventure! .... I'll order a few books tomorrow, study as much as I can, get to the dropzone when I can (hopefully learn to pack) and do another tandem sometime this year. It just might work for me...
  5. Just wondering, what would you do? I have the option to do tandems or NOT skydive. My family (who are helping pay for college) will not allow me to do AFF/solo skydives, but are okay with tandems. I had decided to not do tandems because it's a bit of a tease and I didn't feel it was cost effective in the long run. (My uncle, a skydiver, agreed with me and tried to encourage my family to allow AFF, but he didn't have much luck with them either) I love going to skyventure, but it just isn't the same. Now I have two weeks off from school and I'm going stir crazy. (Already! I just finished classes today. ) Should I just give in and do a few tandems? What would you do? Audra
  6. Thanks, I needed that. I actually used to consider 6am "sleeping in." Off to work for me. Enjoy your crappy weekend weather! Audra
  7. Good morning! Wow, 6am comes way too soon... Audra
  8. Oh no! I'm sorry. (really, I'm not just being sarcastic) As for hurt feets, I was wondering if you could get in a tunnel! A friend of mine recently had surgery done on his foot and is just back up and walking. He was also going to jump in the tunnel but decided not to for whatever reason. I think the hardest part was making it up all those stairs in that bulky shoe. Audra
  9. Hee! I had to laugh at this. I really don't have anything worthwhile to add to the forums and nobody responds to my posts - maybe because I'm not hot? I really did have a great day. Work called and wanted me to come in... but I declined and went to skyventure instead. Then hung out with some friends I haven't seen in a while.
  10. Violet. "You have a shy personality. You tend to hesitate before trying new things or meeting new people. But once people get to know you, you open up and show the world what you are really all about." Audra
  11. The sexiest? I don't think I could pick... I love piercings! Audra
  12. That is insane. Personally I missed all the fun (or lack of) and got a GED. Audra
  13. +1 for water Kites Beach umbrella Skateboard Find my rubber boots - I can't imagine hurricane season without them! I love hurricane season. (yes I have been through really awful hurricanes, major damage, been flooded out, nearly lost my car trying to drive to work, gone weeks without power, etc. Call me a masochist, but I still LOVE hurricanes!)
