Well last weekend i completed my level 8! woopie!! And everyone at the DZ seemed pretty excited for me and was telling me how i need to bring beer to the dz haha. well that weekend i wasn't able to that day, but want to bring some this weekend but am not sure how to go about it as i don't really know these people and I'm not that great with initiating friendships. Well over the weekend i was ale to do my level 5-8 jumps and everything went great!! except a minor injury to my back on my level 7. First off im a student and dont know everything there is to know about skydiving. on my level six, i noticed a had a harder pull then usual but didn't think anything of it, but on my level 7 i had a really painful hard opening. or at least what seemed to be a hard opening. before getting on the plane i noticed that i didnt tighten my leg straps really TIGHT. in fact they were loose enough to were i had to ask my JM to check it, he said "eeh its fine", so off i went. for my level 8, i really strapped them suckers down, because i just could not take another hit like that, and it worked. kinda disappointed in my jm for giving me the heads up when really they should have been tighter. but lesson learned! wish i would have known this head of time! hope this helps someone new to the sport. Glad to be reading your experience as i was too there. After my first jump(tandem) i couldn't stop thinking about how not "scary" it was. It just felt so...normal? It just felt like something that i had done many times to the point where it wasn't so exciting? So i knew i had to do it again but this time with a parachute on my back. Man was that a different feeling. Knowing that your counting on yourself for survival, choosing your own landing spot, making your own turns, it was awesome. The feeling of being at the door has completely changed from the feeling i had when i did the tandem. Its much more exciting now knowing that i am skydiving, not just hanging on to someone who is skydiving. I am very fresh to the sport, but it is something that i know i want to do for many years. How many times have you been in a vehicle when there was a certainty of death? My guess is zero. How many times have you been skydiving when there was a certainty of death? Every time. Its not even comparable and if you can't understand that, I would never want to be in the air with you. You need to follow the conversation more closely. Did anyone advocate, anywhere in this thread, that somebody rely on an AAD? Your need to make dramatic statements seems to have caused you to hear something that was not said. If they did or if they didn't doesn't make a difference. You asked a very specific question, and I answered it. That means I'm being dramatic? Cmon now. BUT i did answer your question. 2. there is only certainty of death in skydiving if you choose to not pull or have dual malfunctions. and at the same time there is only certainty of death in a car if you are going 160mph and hit a wall or loose control. both have happened. and will happen again.
