  1. skydive mesquite or sin city skydiving only places to jump in NV!
  2. If you look at ericrite's posts, every single one is almost a copy+paste-clone of the one before, bashing Brad and Sin City skydiving, but without any details or evidence to support his claims... just "Brad is a douchebag", "Sin City is so unsafe", and "they charged my credit card". I call bullshit. If you're going to make a fake account just to bash Sin City, at least put some effort into it and post about some other topics so you look somewhat legit. Brad at Sin City is awesome, its that idiot that runs the DZ in the room behind him that you have to watch out for. For anyone visiting Vegas, both Sin City Skydiving and Skydive Mesquite are awesome So. Nevada DZ's.
  3. I'm a Vegas local and usually jump out at Mesquite but was invited to check out Sin City. I wasn't sure what to expect being that the other Vegas DZ's are tandem factory operations and do not welcome fun jumpers, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a few fun jumpers when I arrived. They do tandems but also teach AFF and welcome fun jumpers of all skill levels and I was really impressed with how friendly the staff was. The 206 was a comfortable ride to altitude, the gear I rented was well maintained, and it only took me 30 minutes to get to Sin City from my house in North Las Vegas. Sin City is relatively new from what I understand but I really think they have a lot of potential to become an awesome fun-jumper friendly DZ (and Vegas' only one at that) if more locals would go out there and give it a try. The DZO told me that if 3 fun jumpers came out he'd run the plane all day as many times as we wanted.
  4. On my last AFF jump I turned final way too soon and overshot the landing area by like 100 yards and had to land on a narrow strip of asphalt between two hangars. It was a nice tip-toe landing and I passed AFF but it still messed with my head because my accuracy was always pretty decent before that. For the first time I was really nervous about doing another jump, but I landed right in the landing zone and I wasn't nervous anymore. Bottom line, I'm sure once you do another jump and land where you're supposed to you'll be fine.
  5. I'm on my last AFF jump with Brad at Skydive Mesquite. My training has been a blast. Brad is an excellent teacher. He's very thorough in briefing before each jump and debriefing after the jump, and the little pop quizzes on all of the emergency procedures every time I come out has made me feel confident and prepared for anything. He's an easy guy to work with and I feel fortunate to have been able to train at Skydive Mesquite. The summer heat in the hangar is the only thing that sucks, but its cooling down now and I'm looking forward to jumping these next few months.
  6. After doing my first tandem jump a few months ago I knew right away this was something I wanted to get into. The DZ I jumped at didn't offer training so I searched the web for other DZ's in my area that did and found two: Vegas Extreme Skydiving in Jean and Skydive Mesquite. Jean is a half hour closer to me so I gave Vegas Extreme a call. (I wish I would have known about this website earlier because with all the bad reviews for Vegas Extreme I wouldn't have even bothered with them in the first place). The guy I talked to on the phone (Alex) was really friendly and told me that they did offer training and to come down and meet with the owner. When I met the owner (Eddy) he was very short (both in his communication with me and his physical height), but he looked a little busy so I didn't take it personally. Alex told me that he was cool with me enrolling in the program and that I could get started that day. I was told I needed two tandem jumps to start off so I decided to get one out of the way. Back on the ground, Eddy pressured me into buying another tandem. When I told him I didn't have the money he said "You have a credit card right, do another jump." I really couldn't afford it but wanted to get certified so I decided to do one more. The next week I called and spoke with Alex and asked if I could come down on Sunday (today) to continue my training and he said "Ya sure we're all about it." I drove an hour out to Jean this morning and arrived right as they were opening. I sat and waited about 15 minutes and then Eddy approached me and said, "What do you need?" I thought maybe he meant what do I need to do to get ready to jump so I told him I just needed to empty my pockets and he said "No, what are you trying to do here because the training program is full." I was pretty shocked as I was just there a week earlier and started my training. I just said "I don't understand? How long until its not full?" and he said "I don't know, How long is a piece of string? Go somewhere else." It was obvious to me then that I had been deceived into buying a couple tandems and that there was no training program. I'm really not even mad. Every time I have an experience like this I just wonder if people like this really think their business is going to last the way they're running it. I called Skydive Mesquite and they told me about this site. After reading all of the great reviews about them and talking to them on the phone for a while I'll be giving them a try. So skydivers beware, Vegas Extreme is NOT the only DZ in Vegas! (and if it were, I still wouldn't go there)
