Did any of the ladies every come out supporting the idea that doing things for them increased their desire for the guy doing those things? I've had this theory that most women don't like nice guys that do things for them. Seems they must like guys who are egotistical and neglect them or they wouldn't keep going back to those guys. Just thought it was curious that I didn't notice any of the women advocating the nice guy route.

It varies by department, but most cops make fun of other cops who write silly tickets. If I took the time to write a ticket, you either had two or more things wrong or you were a jerk. For simple stuff, run the license and tell them to fix it. Of course, one day the license came back to a murderer from Texas. I would have let him go otherwise. :)

I was a cop once. I followed people like that to see if they were drunk. If you weren't drunk and corrected the problem (speeding in this case), I wasn't going to write a ticket anyhow. So, no traffic stop. Just keep an eye on them. Now, the cop should not have exceeded the speed limit. They might have thought there was a call to go on and then found out there was not, but that's a bit thin. Probably just checking you out.

I'll have to side with the BS call. I was doing ALL of the housework including cooking, cleaning, laundry and yardwork. When my wife got home from work, I had already helped the kids with homework and had dinner ready. I got up early work out and had breakfast going before I ever woke her and the kids. I made decent money and paid all the bills without comment. I couldn't figure out why I was being ignored in the bedroom until the day I came in and found someone else's uniform in the living room and a naked guy in the closet.

I call BS on the whole concept. But I may be a little biased.

I don't know what state your friend is in, so I can't give legal advice. However, as an attorney who has done hundreds of divorces, I will tell you that the only thing that matters is what can be proven in court. Documentation is everything. Are there police reports where she was violent? Are there medical reports from where she is prescribed anti-pyschotic meds? Has she threatened or harmed the children?

So many questions. Yes, he needs a divorce attorney. He needs to start a log and keep notes. He needs to collect documentation or note what documentation is available so his attorney can subpoena it.

If you can't prove it, it didn't happen.

OK, D. You made me research it. It turns out nobody knows why we close our eyes when we sneeze. There are medical opinions that the pressure would be uncomfortable on the eyes or cause them to extrude, but that's all.

And no. You can't keep your eyes open when you sneeze. The pressure has the potential to push your eyeballs out, so your body naturally closes your eyes tightly.

Downtown Birmingham has the Alabama Theater, built in the 20's. It has oak and stained glass and all the splendor of that era. It has a pipe organ to accompany silent movies. At Halloween, they play the Lon Chaney version of Phantom of the Opera accompanied by the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. The ushers are dressed as the grim reaper. What a great way to spend an evening. Silent movies can be great.

My personal rule is to not interfere with someone else's relationship. In keeping with that rule, I would not tell her. If you can't do that, you might want to walk away. You said you didn't talk for three months. Go another three months. Then another. Learn from your mistake and don't let the next one slip through your fingers. There will be another one.

As for dealing with heartache? No cure. You can only treat the symptoms. Get out. Have fun with friends. Even though you don't feel like it. Once you are out doing things, you will get distracted. Eventually, you will feel better. Sorry I can't offer more than that.

To answer the question...yes and no. The tomtom will work, but it is a bit bulky and will be hard to handle. Plus, it is not usually set up to handle elevations as great as what you will be working in. A marine GPS, however, will give you your elevation, location and even glide ratio. I use one when flying my hang glider as do most hang glider pilots. If you check around, you will find rigs to attach a GPS to your thigh for use by pilots and paraglider pilots. Should pretty much fit the bill.

One of my peeves is the ubiquitous use of pronouns that do not reference the previous noun.

My daughter once brought a note home from her teacher. It recommended sending a snack to school with my daughter due to a late lunch period. It said that drinks could be part of the snack. It then said there was a water fountain in the room if we chose not to send one. I wrote back asking why I would send a water fountain to school. The teacher never spoke to me again. In all fairness, that comment was in red and was only one of many grammatical corrections I made to the document before returning it to the teacher.
