  1. Actually we prefer to call it executing guilty people but you can call it what you wish. An executed criminal never killed again. Don't expect me to "do the christian thing." I'm agnostic. 2. Do you still consider it state sponsored murder if you lock someone up and let them die slowly of gang green, leprosy, meningitis, or hepatitis? Technically you didn't kill them, you just kept them incarcerated. Last I checked... our system does not allow for that.... in our prison system. If it is.... prosecute the jailors or wardens for abusing their positions of authority for allowing the abuse. I'm not talking about our prison system, I'm talking about others. If you are going to hold other countries up in such high regard and call them morally superior to us because they don't have the death penalty, then what about all the other aspects of the countries judicial system? A lot of countries, like the Philippines and Mexico, only think they have the responsibility to lock you up. Anything after that, like eating, is on you. Yet some people will say that because they don't have the death penalty, their judicial system is superior. It's kind of like saying that Cuba's health care is superior, just because the state provides it. Never mind that everyone who can get health care else where, goes elsewhere..... You are missing the point... I do not want us to be a member of the same club that outright murders people... in our supposedly Christian country... I bet you are a right to lifer too.... yet have no issue with retroactive abortion.. even of innocent people You are welcome to pack up and move to a country that does not have capital punishment. I, for one, am proud to live in a country that rewards it's most heinous criminals with an execution and not a warm bed, three squares and health care for life. 3. Better one innocent man be executed than ten guilty men go free to continue their murdering ways. Allowing murderers to go free knowing they will most likely kill again is just a cheap chicken-shit way of trying to wash our hands of the responsibility of death. "Don't blame me, all I did was let them go free. THEY killed those 10 innocent people" gives a better feeling than "Yes, I executed an innocent man along with the 10 absolutely guilty ones". 4. No it sounds like you envy the heights they have risen too .... even if they are crooks... More good rePUBIClown values!!! I sound envious? Wow. Look in the mirror, Monica. I'm not the one whining about what other people have and claiming they all got their money through dirty under-the-table government dealings. This thread was a nice discussion until you showed up and fucked it all up with your envy and personal insults. Dont you have a dress to dry clean or something? I am sure you have far more dresses in your closet dahrling.. Maybe I do. Maybe I don't have any. But, assuming I do, would that bother you? Nope... if that is what it takes for you to get a stiffy.... have at it. I don't care what you want to wear at your country club... your fellow travellers on the other hand.... So, if it wouldn't bother you, why bring it up? Maybe you feel gays don't have the right to argue against paying higher taxes or maybe you don't think gays have the right to argue against the government spending huge amounts of money on stupid stuff. 8. Sure it did. But now that you're starting with the "rich people get all the breaks but nobody gives me anything" whining it doesn't matter whether we agree on that or not. Hint: None of those 1% got there by whining. Some were born into it, others made it there on their own. 9. No, we only need to cut spending. There is more than enough money to run the country in an effective manner and provide all the services we need. The government ha sproven time and again that when they raise taxes "to reduce the debt" the extra income is only spent on more pork. Yeah.. that is some funny shit right there.... only cut spending like the current crop of morons you guys elected to the House of Reps..... and take what....70 years to pay off the current debt... Fiscal Responsibility the Tea Party way Better than raise taxes and spending like the morons you elect. Oh yes.. the W tax cuts and off the books war had NOTHING to do with our current deficit or economy.... Only a diehard Tea Bagger could actually believe that in CLUELESS WORLD Since 1981....the TRICKLE DOWNISTS have had their way.... transferring the wealth of our people to a very few people at the very top... and the stupid Tea Baggers are too fucking stupid to realize it. If you would come out from behind that blue dress and actually read my posts here you would have seen that I already gave credit to the stupid wars for their part of the mess we're in. Nice try though. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

  11. Name something that is provided to me by tax dollars and I will tell you whether or not I am willing to sacrifice that service. For example, aviation. I enjoy renting a small plane once in a while for a couple hours. It is not a very popular stance among other pilots but I am more than willing to pay user fees to fly. Why should the entire nation pay for the fun and enjoyment of a few dozen thousand? You already pay (probably indirectly through the FBO where you rent) a dedicated tax on aviation fuel, the purpose of which is to pay for the aviation infrastructure that you use. I understand that. But if it takes user fees to keep that infrastructure self sustaining then I am all for it. The less aviation relies upon congress giving the ok for a budget, the better. 13. Wrong again, my good man. To be the fairest we need to cut spending to stay within our current income. Raising taxes will do nothing good. Absolutely nothing. 14. How many vacations did you take last year, Bill? I took five days off and never left the state. Same this year. I am willing to sacrifice by giving up the unecessary BS our taxes pay for like the stupid wars we are in, the BS welfare system that rewards laziness, and the BS laws that require government contractors to pay union wages. There is more than enough pork to trim to bring the budget under control. 16. You would be correct except for the fact that there is a finite amount available to collect as taxes. Add to that the fact that virtually every time the government has increased taxes in the name of paying down the debt or deficit, it has only led to increased spending. If I knew that the increased taxes would actually be used as intended then the pill would be easier to swallow but only a fool would go along with a plan to increase taxes to pay down the debt. If the government is serious about this...really serious...then they need to prove they mean business by first sacrificing their own lifestyles. They need to lead by example, not lead in the Bush-Clinton style of "do as I say not as I do". It's difficult for most people to accept paying more taxes when they are asked to by someone speaking from the 1st tee at the Congressional Country Club. No, Bill, the answer is not sacrificing by paying more taxes. The answer is to be found entirely by sacrificing all of what is now being payed for by deficit spending and some of what is actually being funded. 17. 1. I'm pretty sure that I have paid a higher percentage of my income in taxes than GE for many years. 2. How do you go about doing that? 1) Quade said he paid more income tax. Percentage of income was not mentioned. 2) If I were in that situation I would do the same thing GE did. I would have my accountant and tax lawyer find the best way. 19. Well, that's hilarious. I paid more income tax last year than GE did. My guess is they have a far greater ability to pay than I do. Two points to make. 1) How did your taxes in years previous to 2010 compare to taxes GE paid to the US government? 2) If I knew I was going to have to pay 35% income tax I would do all i could to minimize (on paper) my income as well. I expect you would do the same. 20. So, something perry did not do, in a state that people support capital punishment, makes him look like a dick? I could see coming down on the person that used race at the sentencing hearing and havig a judge review it, but this does not make perry a dick. This make Perry look like someone that upholds the laws that the people of his state support. Perry knew about the statements made and it was pointed out to him how it could have influenced the jury during sentencing. He could have granted the stay and ordered a review but he chose not to. He chose to allow a man to face execution knowing full well that he may not have received a fair sentence. That does not make him look like a dick. It only comfirms what people already know...that he is a dick. no he allowed the legal process to work, or are you all about over riding the legal process? He refused to make the decision himself when he was in a position to do so. "Passing the buck" is a sign of a poor leader and a dick. 22. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44559543/ns/business-stocks_and_economy/ Ok, Mr. President, tell me how much you think a "fair share" is. I already pay >25% income tax, I also pay sales tax at the stores, fuel taxes at the pumps, etc. All totalled up I would estimate that more than 65% of what I spend each year goes directly or indirectly to pay taxes of some kind. My business also pays taxes. When these taxes are raised I cannot afford to absorb them so I pass the extra expense on to my customers. How does making people, who are already stretched to the limit, pay even more help our economy? Heres a tip: Cut expenses and implement a Welfare for Work program that is mandatory. Almost every person who collects welfare can do something even if it is stuffing envelopes at home, picking up trash, painting guardrails along the highways, etc. Every hour they work is an hour's pay we save. No, it is not slavery. Don't want to work? Fine. You get no money. There are, of course, exceptions for those who are physically or mentally disabled to the point they cannot do anything. 24. I am very sorry to hear of your sister's passing. When you were in the ER he should have been there with you at least until you were discharged. When your sister passed away he should have notified his employer that he was taking a few days off. If they would not let him take time off for the death of his wife's sister then they are not a place worth working for. Forget for a moment that he was going to the DZ. There is no job he could have...none!...that is worth leaving his family at critical times like that. It was not like he was a firefighter called in, or a National Guardsmen called to duty in an emergency. It was a DZ. A place people go to have fun. He owes you an apology and needs to change his way of thinking. If he can't then you need to change your spouse.
