  1. In reply to those suggesting a change to state record rules: Those of you who live in states the size of Europe may forget there's an area of the country which contains the majority of the US population yet has much smaller states. Many jumpers east of the Mississippi have to leave their state just to visit their home dropzone. I traverse four states in the two hour drive to my DZ which is situated on the border of two states. On any given jump we probably have almost as many states represented as we do jumpers.
  2. I wish women would dress more like women, less like homeless men. Dress > dirty sweat pants
  3. I'm not sure if you are really that callous or just playing Devil's Advocate here. ? Your uncertainty if I was being sarcastic (which I was) shows how commonly accepted the idea of male disposability is in our society. Not caring about men dying is pretty standard. Actually, it indicates that you have a posting history that makes it difficult for anyone to presume irony or sarcasm rather than to just assume you mean what you write. And it seems a bit misogynistic to say that the problem for women isn't real because they're not really trying to kill themselves, they're just making lame cries for help. I didn't say the problem wasn't real for women, just pointing out that men commit suicide much more often than women. You said women "attempt it" more often, which misses the point. Suicide is when you successfully kill yourself, not almost OD'ing on drugs. When someone points out a problem that effects men much more than women, they are a "misogynist," but if someone points out a way women have it worse, they are a hero fighting for equality. Perhaps that's why men kill themselves much more often, because they aren't allowed to be a victim like women are. No one cares much about the welfare of men. Women can more easily ask for help.
  4. I am unable to find the data at this point, but I believe that in terms of suicide *attempts*, women are much more likely. But their preferred methods (poisoning in particular) are much less likely to end in death than shooting (preferred by men). Your reply is offensive. This is the same worthless response given every time men's higher rate of suicide is brought up. Perhaps we should actually focus on why men kill themselves much more frequently instead of pointing out that women attempt suicide as a cry for help more often. You've proven my point that people only care about the emotional welfare of women even as men are dying in droves. That you disagree with his reply reflects upon the issue being discussed. That you find his response "offensive" reflects upon you. I say this not unmindful that there's another thread in which you just told Quade "You're so full of shit." Your frothing-at-the-mouth anger tends to overwhelm your posts and the messages you're trying to convey. A lot. I don't expect for an instant that you'll calm the fuck down because I say you really need to calm the fuck down; but dude, you really need to calm the fuck down. Who the fuck do I think I am to tell you that? Nobody in particular, really. You seem to be the one frothing at the mouth here. I'm fine, thanks. I stand by what I've said and I'm sorry you can't handle a little hyperbole.

  7. Who gives a shit? It's mostly men killing themselves after all. If it were women, I might give a shit. And it's not just the US. Suicide is now the #1 cause of death for young men in the UK.
  8. You still haven't given a reason why we need a special bill to protect women and vilify men. I never thought I'd find myself defending people like the men on your list, but at least they're not blatantly pandering to the 52% of voters that are women.
  9. Speaking of child abuse, women commit more of that than men also, but most people don't grab their kids when a woman walks by on the street. And no, I don't think all women are evil, I'm just tired of everyone saying all men are evil as this bill does.
  10. The fact that you claim to be afraid of me just because I'm sticking up for men shows how sexist you are. I didn't say "gender discrimination works in favor of women," I said both men and women are harmed in different ways by traditional gender roles. But that doesn't fit into your neat little "patriarchy" worldview so I'm wasting my time. I hope you like cats because you'll likely be spending your old age with them.
  11. So you're appealing to the fact that men are stronger...that's a bit weak if you look at the facts. Around 40% of domestic violence victims are men and there is literally zero awareness of this fact. Despite men's "greater strength" they don't report their abuse because they will either be ridiculed or arrested. They can't even use their strength to defend themselves from attack or they will be the ones that are arrested. Women initiate domestic violence just as much as men, but only the men get arrested. Not only that, but women use weapons more often to make up for their "lack of strength." They also have much more sympathy under the law and even have a unique legal defense they can use that is not available to men: "Battered women syndrome." Comes in quite handy when you murder your husband and don't want to go to jail. But we need to protect these delicate snowflakes! They are naturally weak and always the victims of big bad men of course. Don't be so afraid of men. We're people too.
  12. Actually I would argue that domestic violence law has swung so far in women's favor over the past century that it actually is discriminatory towards men. If anything we need a "violence against men act." But why do we need to specify the gender at all? Why do we only want to protect women? It's pure and blatant sexism in its simplest form. Quite black and white.
  13. You asked me, I answered. I'm sorry reality terrifies you so much.
  14. This happens to men all the time, but if you're suggesting this still happens to women I'd request you share whatever it is you're smoking with the rest of us.
  15. Care to elaborate on this? In what way is it "open season" on women in "domestic" cases? Usually women are given favoritism over men in these cases under the law.
