  1. I ran across a video on YouTube of someone impersonating a dead skydiver. In it, he explains his death and the deaths of other skydivers that were involved in a plane crash. The person on the video is claiming to be Casey Craig. I assume this is the same Casey Craig that was killed in the October 2007 Caravan crash. I found this to be very disturbing and I would hate for Casey's friends and family to accidently come across this video. I really don't know what could be done about it, but maybe there is a way to get this junk removed from YouTube. Here's a link to the video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0VGRq0pNQg
  2. What in the world are you planning on doing? Just yesterday you were asking about bungy jumping while parasailing. Are you looking to combine every extreme sport there is together into one? If so, please let me know when you get all this fixed up and I'll come out and video it for you! There are three types of people in this world; those that can count and those that can't.
  3. I'm the exact same way. Because I do not posses the ability to turn animals away, I currently own 9 dogs and 2 cats. Only 1 of the dogs and 1 of the cats were actually purchased. The others were abandoned animals that found their way to my porch. I don't have the heart to turn them away or send them to an animal shelter where their chances of finding a home are near zero. 4. Do you have a Coast Guard license to operate a parasail? As far as I know, it is illegal to do so without a license. There are three types of people in this world; those that can count and those that can't.
  5. I just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that today marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech, my alma mater. Please take a moment out of your day to think about the victims of not only this tragedy, but the victims of all senseless school shooting tragedies. There are three types of people in this world; those that can count and those that can't.
  6. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinions, but I fail to see how those commercials equate animals to humans. There are all types of commercials on TV for an array of causes. If you don't want to give to a cause that helps in the prevention of animal cruelty, keep flipping through the channels until you find a commercial for a cause you will support. What is "disgusting" is how people can abuse, maim, and starve innocent little animals that have done absolutely nothing wrong to deserve such treatment. 7. I parasailed once, but you weren't able to pick how high you went. Mine was around 250-300 feet. Saying that you opted for 600ft because 1200ft was too scary reminded me of something I heard someone say about parasailing. They said that were afraid of heights, but because parasailing was over water and not land they would be able to do it. If you are hundreds of feet up in the air, and slip out of the harness, landing in the water is not going to result in a better outcome than if you had landed on dry land. Sorta the same way a 600ft. drop will have the same outcome as a 1200ft. drop. There are three types of people in this world; those that can count and those that can't.
  8. It's called ParaBungy. Here's a video clip of one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2Cbnu6WD7k&feature=related Edited: Whoops, appears you got your answer while I was posting the above information. There are three types of people in this world; those that can count and those that can't.
  9. Oh, is that you Elián? Don't be so bitter, not all of us wanted you to be sent back to Cuba. There are three types of people in this world; those that can count and those that can't.

    Guar Gum?

While all of that is true, you have to understand that happened 16 years ago in 1992. Two years later in 1994, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education ACT (DSHEA) was formed. That ACT states that there are "no FDA regulations that are specific to dietary supplements that establish a minimum standard of practice for manufacturing dietary supplements". Your reference stated that the FDA and 10 other states "moved to stop the sale of a weight control drug product containing guar gum". That is the catch. After 1994, guar gum could be added in small amounts of products as long as it was sold as a dietary supplement. Even that website you pointed to states "Although the ingredient is banned in weight loss drug products, it is approved for use in small amounts in foods such as cheese, salad dressings and ice creams". It would be great to see greater regulation concerning these matters. While in graduate school, I worked to help get some of the products off the shelves. Because of the ways the laws are worded, it is a very difficult thing to do There are three types of people in this world; those that can count and those that can't.

    Guar Gum?

Actually, this product is categorized as a weight loss supplement. Because of that, they are not required to have FDA approval. By law, manufactuers and distributors are only required to explain to the FDA why they believe the ingredient is reasonably expected to be safe for use in a dietary supplement. They are not required to show any proof. That is why you see mandatory disclaimers stating "this product has not been approved by the FDA" on infomercials. Check out http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/ds-oview.html. It is the governments overview of dietary supplements. The only way a lawsuit would be successful is if this product could be proven to have caused a death. There are three types of people in this world; those that can count and those that can't.
  12. I'm very sorry to hear this. You and your family are in my thoughts. The same thing happened to my grandpa in 2003. We found out the day before Thanksgiving that he had stage 4 cancer and he passed away early Christmas morning. It's a tough thing to go through at any time, but especially during the holidays. Stay strong and remember to take care of yourself. There are three types of people in this world; those that can count and those that can't.
  13. Not after a few well written emails to eBay security. Seems ThrillPlanet has gone away. 359 That is good news. I just wanted to share one more thing about this company. Someone earlier asked about whether Thrill Planet had actually sold any of the certificates on eBay seeing how they had a feedback score of zero. I was able to find out that they had, however, I was also a little perplexed as to why they had zero feedback. Well, I just found out how. A few days ago I sent them a question through eBay about one of their skydiving certificates and asked them if I could also purchase some whiter-water rafting, helicopter ride, and hot balloon certificates at the same time. This is the exact response I received: "We offer a lot of different events if you go to our website thrillplanet.com you can take a look and let me know what else you may be interested in or you can give me a call at 1-800-759-7433 i can let you know what type of discount i can give you when we talk." It turns out that Thrill Planet was only using eBay as an advertising venue. They were having customers circumvent the entire eBay process and go directly through them instead to make purchases. That is a huge no-no in eBay's eyes because it takes away all buyer protection in the event something goes wrong with the sell. That fact, coupled with multiple emails to eBay, has successfully shut down Thrill Planet's deceptive advertising on eBay for the time being! 14. Yes, they have sold some of these. Apparantly they are using a dutch auction to put up around 50 certificates at a time per listing and leaving them up for 6 MONTHS each. This would explain why they are using the store format and not the regular auction format. In regular format the longest time the auction could run is 10 days. If these were "regular" auctions, I could get the listings pulled fairly quickly. Since these are listed as part of a store, though, it will take closing down the entire store. A single complaint won't work. I'll put together some info on them and see what I can do. There are three types of people in this world; those that can count and those that can't.
  15. I am looking to do my first skydive and was almost taken in by these people. BE VERY CAREFUL, they are selling all types of these certificates on eBay thru the store name Thrill Planet Adventures. Here's the link http://stores.ebay.com/Thrill-Planet-Adventures.
