  1. Richard, please take this as light hearted as I mean it. :) If you are going to correct someone's spelling ( "number one, tought is not a word, it's taught ..."), it is usually a good idea to check your own ( "... senseability). Just laughing WITH you, not at you. larry
  2. Bill, as long as you are answering this question: my friend has a PD 170 F-111 canopy. She double stows her Dacron lines with rubber bands. She does hop and pops rarely, and doesn't exceed 120 very often. The width of the pilot chute measures (approx.) 28-30 inches. Is this a little big for her canopy? Besides extra drag, what other problems are associated with a too large pilot chute? Thanks. larry
  3. Hi, relative newbie here. I was trained that my primary focus in checking airspace when getting ready to deploy was down, left and right. My major responsibility is to make sure the space "below" me was clear, and to expect that the people above me are doing the same. Yes, I know I am ultimately responsible for myself, and I can see that knowing I'm clear in ALL directions is preferred, but I wonder about the practicalities of "barrel rolling" to clear the airspace above you. Don't you lose some of your focus downward if you have to barrel roll to clear upward? Do you really have sufficient time and altitude to alter your path if in fact you DO see someone above you? And if you do vector to avoid someone above you, don't you run the risk of moving into someone else's airspace, maybe someone you hadn't seen previously? Just wondering. larry

Skyrose7, I usually jump at Central Michigan Skydivers in Mt. Pleasant. The DZO's have created a "family feel" to the drop zone that I find myself drawn to. I've also jumped at Skydive Michigan here in Marshall, which is about 40 miles from Gobles. PM me and tell me a little bit about your dropzone. Larry

What DZ here in MI do you go to Skyrose7?
  6. Assuming that the manufacturer doesn't "forbid" it, is there any reason a psycho pack shouldn't be used on F-111 material? Are the openings significantly slower?
  7. Thanks everyone. I appreciate the input.
  8. Is there an inherent problem with keeping the canopy tightly folded in the container for months at a time as opposed to a loose fold tucked into a plastic bag? Larry
  9. Can anyone tell me the best way to store your canopy when not in use? Snow will be coming soon and although I will jump at least once to experience it (relative newbie), I probably won't jump again until springtime. Thanks.
