  6. Go to paragear, they have a list of most cameras and what they are compatible with.... it should be below the item (bite switch, cameye) and say something about a compatability chart blues the big dirty
  7. I got this book for christmas... helped me allot as i was in the same situation, not knowing really anything about cameras... It shows you how to use, and what all the features do on your digital camera, mostly Cannons and nikons.... The digital photography book volume 2 by Scott Kelby well worth the money!

  13. at lost prairie if you look up on the far ridge their is a small look out tower (used for spotting fires back in the day) every year usually the last thursday of the boogie, everyone who is willing to risk their soberness all loads in their vehicles usually 7 or 8 cars packed full. then we all head up to the tower and watch the sunset. They do all sorts of flybys and you can watch the people over the prairie deploying, it is pretty amazing. a lot of good memories, im not exactly sure bit i think it is 3500+/- feet higher than the drop zone, the big dirty
  14. oh.. the towers are what make lost prairie lost prairie.. and no I didn't quit drinkin, although I should the big dirty
  15. well... I am the cantidate that the OP was about... im talking in relation to the coach course and my experience.. but that is a good point, by the time a student moves onto a coach they should have a fair idea about whats going on, not saying that supervision and instruction can be ignored by any means.. the big dirty
  16. IN YO FACE! you don't have a hair on your balls if you don't go to the towers this year... im glad i quit drinkin the big dirty

  18. I Think this whole thing was blown out of the water. the person in question may be out of a comfort zone, this person doesn't know a single person at a new dropzone, is told to teach in front of evaluators that are known to already have a bad relationship with most of the people at your home D.Z (we where visiting a DZ while attending the course) it can all be a little intimidating.. all these can have a person overwhelmed. on the other hand a person who is at their home DZ could make a person more "at home" meeting the standards is a must, but also what if a person doesn't have a salesman like approach to teaching?? does that disqualify them from being a coach? but acting like a fake salesman and trying to act all uppedy isn't for some people... people have different teaching methods. I guess is what im trying to say. kind of off topic, but I used the term "bow tie" in my canopy control section on my teach back, (as in stalling a canopy and folding it up) is this wrong terminology?? maybe because it is not mentioned in the S.I.M does any one else use that term in skydiving?? F*** my life... thanks the big dirty
  19. haha thats funny, I know this other guy. he thinks he is the shit, he went from a sabre 2 190 (purple and white) to a katana 170 (blue and white) he always gets his ass kicked on wii tennis at the dropzone by an alcoholic and a old man!.... and I am the coolest person at the dropzone the big dirty
  20. hey thanks man.. im not planning on doing this soon, but getting more opinions from people opens my mind rather than doing what you said, yanking a riser at some altitude. I have seen plenty of people get in the "corner" and freeze up. not what i want to do, thanks though blues!
  21. fastest canopies ever made?? what about cross braced canopies? from what i hear the stiletto is the lesser o the evils.. just what i heard though..
  22. right.. not going to take any advice over the internet to heart. just feeling around how other people have started in the past. I havn't and don't plan on doing anything front riser related below 1000. just forecasting and trying to see if their is things I can work on now to get to that next step without putting myself or other pilots in danger. thanks all! the big dirty
  23. right, im planning on going slow. i have done a number of hop and pops from 9k and done nothing but front and rear risers. pretty hard to figure exactley how much alt. you are losing with an anolog altimiter. just not sure where to go from their. once I get many hop and pops from 9k then im lost, and don't want to just wing it and get myself in a situation I shouldn't be in. thanks blues the big dirty
