  1. Also from the Sigma manual: "As you are deploying the drogue, turn your head slightly to the right and watch it inflate. Full inflation takes about 2-3 seconds."
  2. Gatorz recommends: Dr. Chesner (619) 291-3836 [email protected] My Wraptors are great; 15 years after LASIK I've developed a slight astigmitism w/myopia of -1.0 They do have tinting available but no reflective coating. I use mine for jumping and riding my Ultra Classic. IMO, well worth the wait and price.
  3. He probably had permanent brachial plexus nerve damage to his left upper extremity; the plexus is responsible for sensation and movement of the upper extremity. With this injury there would be no motor or sensory functions. If the arm touched a hot stove, he couldn't feel it or move his arm out of the way. Securing the remaining part of the arm would help prevent uncontrollable movement.
  4. Hey Todd, So you took over from Scott? Are you still having the Caravan come up in a few weeks? I'll give you a call later today. Dr. Bob - N16DP
  5. Reserve side instructor dump him out or mirrored image?
  6. Quality vs quantity? Damn, that should be a no brainer. Safety, safety, safety. And quantity doesn't equate to safety. Strato, throw some names out there so I can stay away from those I/Es that don't strive for ensuring AFFIs earn their rating.
  7. Let's not forget the most important part...Not everyone can be an effective instructor/teacher. Sure some skate by in an AFFI course, but will they really be effective instructors? Maybe, maybe not. I want an AFFI to be knowledgeable and most important, be able to teach effectively to all levels of students (not everyone learns the same, so an instructor should be able to teach to different learning styles). Just my $0.02 worth
  8. Blue skies my friend. I will miss you and so will others!
  9. Are you looking at using an HF rig or just carrying a 2m/220 HT? Blue Skies! Bob KD8FUZ (ex-N8EYN & KA4GTH)
  10. Has there ever been a DZ here or close-by?
  11. Spot on moderator. I wanted to know the fuel burn for doing a load on this Beech. And yes, it does make a difference if there is fuel starvation especially if the engine quits @ 2K or how about 3K with tandems on board? Makes one think about going over their E.P.s doesn't it? In anesthesia, you "hope for the worst and you wont' be disappointed." i.e. don't become complacent. Blue skies
  12. Saw in the news that a twin Beech made an emergency landing in a field outside of Lebanon, OH (Start Skydiving). A jumper there said everyone got out and no one injured. Anyone know the minimum fuel capacity to fly a load on a twin Beech? http://www.middletownjournal.com/hp/content/oh/story/news/local/2008/10/26/46121266_-1.html
  13. May take up the HT next weekend. Thanks for the idea! Bob Heinrich KD8FUZ (ex. N8EYN, KA4GTH)
  14. Got an email from SV-Orlando. 5 hours - $2500 to be used during off peak in '08 but purchased before 12/31. Skydivers only special - limited packages at this price.
  15. Cat, you are correct in your statement that the hinge retaining nut contacts your Neptume. It does the same with my Protrac. The first time I used it, it did mar up the clear, protective overlay covering the screen. I cut a piece of thin lexan and covered the Protrac screen with this - it offers a little more protection to the screen. You can also move the ear padding as far to the rear as possible. If you do move the padding, the cut-out for your audible is not in the way of the nut. I tried this first, but didn't like the lack of padding around the carbon-fiber edge and it didn't feel right. You're right, design flaw or oversite. A lower profile retaining nut with some lock-tite might also help. But redesigning the placement of the hinge bolt/nut would alleviate the problem. Good luck.
  16. What's the difference? Looks like the Prog Card is more specific in skills and seems to be one used for the tandem/SL students. I used the 4 pager (Prog) for my AFF program. Utilizing the Prof Card doesn't list any Categories, so as a student, how do you know which level you are on? Is there a cross reference or is the card tailored to specific school's own AFF program?
  17. After having my rig stolen, I entered the information on the stolen gear page. I haven't seen the listing and it has been over week. Would like to get this posted as soon as possible.
  18. How soon can I get my B license?! Would sign up today if it were possible!
  19. Bad Karma to those involved - thieves even broke into a van and stole a laptop case. Inside...a bible. They found it lying in the ditch next to the motel. Now that's bad karma! How's the shoulder and when are you gonna finish your A requirements?

  21. thanks for the extra set of eyes. Already loaded the info on the stolen link - but they haven't reviewed/posted it yet. Same goes for the USPA website. I also sent emails to all the DZ's in FL. Some were kicked back - will fax them a page w/pics. Thanks to all - and yes, will never leave it in a vehicle unattended again! Blue skies
  22. When I had my new Wings/Sabre2 rig (stolen 12/26/06), I had the same problems. Did the reverse-S packing and it seemed to work alright. Was at Eloy and paid the $6/pack to keep jumping. Save your beer money and just have someone pack it for you. Blue skies
