  1. Gasping at glimpses Of gentle true spirit Chris
  2. With a kinda catchy background tune a voice says badger twice a second for about six seconds then it say "Mushroom, mushroom". Repeat ad nauseum. This is what it would look like I guess: "Badger..badger..badger..badger..badger..badger.. badger..badger..badger..badger..badger..badger.. mushroom, mushroom........" Hope that helps. Chris
  3. Nope, not content....but thanks for asking. Chris
  4. Active Duty AF I was just there...good times, beautiful country! Learn some of the language before you go. Good luck and stay safe. Chris
  5. Wanted to be a photojournalist when I grew up. “Real life” kinda took over for a while, but two years from now I’ll be discharged from my current life. After/during my walk up the PCT I’ll work on my photo skills. After that, who knows with the GI bill.
  6. Last year I was on a trip to Japan and was chatting up this local chick and she told me I have “honest eyes” like “Lobert DeNiro” (think of the stereotype accent). Didn’t hook up, but had to laugh a couple weeks ago when I heard a comedian say he was trying to hook up in a bar with some chick but she didn’t want to because he didn’t have "honest eyes". His reply was “Honest eyes? I want to have sex with you, not borrow a thousand dollars”. Maybe I should have asked her to borrow some money. Chris
  7. That is f-ing great. Hitchikers' was the first computer game I ever remember playing (what a way to start with games...thanks Dad ). Really it was great, on a 128k Mac, no graphics....imagination was all that was needed. If this is the full game, then I'm gonna be up till the wee hours of the morning...thanks GTA.
  8. Great page! I was supprised at how many things I unconsciously did right while I was living there (3 years). It helps that my local was 50 feet from my house.
  9. I apologize…I misunderstood when I read the post the first time. Chris
  10. Mark me up for $20. Let me know where to send it. Chris
  11. Exactly. Two things before I start: #1: I’ve never attended the Zoo #2: I’m an enlisted dude, just so everyone knows my frame of reference I’m sorry to get off subject here (evangelism), but I have to question this remark…surely you don’t mean to say that everyone that has a problem at the Academy is some wussy that is complaining about the problems they have. Most people I know will say that they had it harder then the people who came behind them, whether they be officer (OTS, ROTC, the Zoo) or enlisted (basic training). The brand new Lts (from the AFA) I’ve worked with have, for the most part, been good officers. Just my thoughts. Chris
  12. Everyone, Thanks for all the great info, I really appreciate it! Like I said, it'll be a couple years before I think seriously about BASE, but y'all have given me great information and a lot to think about until then. For now I'll keep my mouth shut, and my eyes and ears open. Thanks again, and be safe out there! Chris
  13. Tom, thanks for all the information, both in answering my question and in your articles! I’ll look around for Tom Begic’s article, and I look forward to seeing the new BASE site you mentioned...once it’s up and running for the public. Jamostar, thanks for the input, I really appreciate it!! Once I start jumping again I’ll definitely make sure I’m well rounded, and have tried to get a taste of everything skydiving has to offer. Thanks again for all the info! Chris Edit to add---DOH!...Jamostar, I just re-read your post and notice you said I shouldn't just get a taste of everything. I notice a lot of people talk about crew and accuracy. I understand the accuracy, but I'm not sure why everyone mentions crew as a good skill to get into BASE. I'm thinking maybe because of the canopy skills? Is that right, or are there other things in crew that I'm just not seeing that will help with BASE? Thanks again!
  14. Hello everyone. Let me start by saying, if this deserves a flame, then flame away, I’m still trying to figure out the world of BASE and what’s proper and what’s not. I haven’t skydived in a couple years and I don’t plan on skydiving again for another year or so at the most (financial responsibilities suck). For now though I’m trying to read everything I can about BASE, as that is my ultimate goal (I plan on doing at least 500 skydives and then re-thinking whether I want to BASE or not). But I figure that right now, while I’m dreaming about being under a canopy, I might as well be dreaming big. I’ve read Tom A’s “Getting into BASE” and I’m going to read his “My first BASE rig” next, just for the info. Before you ask, I’ve already read every entry of Nick’s list...it’s something I hope to never be a part of. Anyway, what I’m trying to ask is, is there anything else that everyone would recommend reading or doing for someone that’s trying to soak up BASE like a sponge? Thanks for any help!!! Chris
  15. Hello y'all, I've been lurking for awhile and finally decided to say hello. I did a couple jumps several years ago, but I've taken the last couple years off due to finances. I'll get back to jumping when I can, but until then I'll live through everyone else. Anyway, I love the site everyone, thanks for all the great info here and Sangiro, thanks for the great site!!! Chris
