  1. Ask and ye shall get, Luminous. I've just moved house; as soon as i work out which box that tunnel footage is in, i'll upload some genuine Aerokart Seagull impressions for you all to try and emulate ;) maybe even one of me "stable", who knows? Just fyi, i was wearing 22lbs of lead (vest and belt) in there too, and i'm STILL a slowfaller? i need to get some pies in me, right now. p.s. i'll post those pics on the tunnel forum, look out for my post in next coupla days :) cheers, tim
  2. Well done! That first time you look out of the open door of a plane it's pretty mad huh? That first feeling of falling into nothing, wow! I did my first jump 3 years ago and it still feels fresh, i can still remember looking at my heart-rate monitor (i was really into my fitness at the time) and seeing 210, and that's just sitting with my legs dangling out the plane, not doing any exercise at all. The adrenalin buzz will keep you coming back for more and more and more and more... Get your cash together and go for the solo freefall... you'll be blown away by the feeling of freedom. Enjoy every minute of it and take as much as you can from that experience back into your ordinary life. It can help sort out your priorities for sure :) There seem to be LOADS of texans posting on this site (not many brits unfortunately for me), my advice would be to hook up with some of the people who post here from your local area, learn from them and go have fun with them. The social/human side of this sport is what makes it so good; people from all walks of life come together and do what we all love to do. Blue Skies, tim
  3. I'd be a hypocrite if i said i was going to pray because i'm an atheist, but i SURE HOPE Rico gets through this, and my thoughts and best wishes are with Rico and his family. If there's such a thing as good vibes, he'll be getting some from me over in the UK right now.
  4. Hi valcore, Well done getting your A-licence. Work as hard as you can to get a rig asap (unless you have one already). I made the mistake of getting quite un-current after i got my A-licence due to being poor (big "aaaahh" everyone please). If I'd been clever i would have got another job so i could get a rig and start enjoying the sport to the fullest. Enjoy the forums and your newfound money-drain :) I can guarantee one thing; you'll make some great life-long friends in this sport, it kicks ass. Blue Skies, tim x
  5. Hi lexusone. I'm pretty much a newbie myself (just off AFF and got my A-licence). The only advice i'd give you is don't be too hard on yourself, it can be frustrating for the first few jumps while you get used to all the mental pressures of your new environment (i.e falling from a great height). Trust your instructors, trust in your own ability and remember to smile :) Blue Skies, tim
  6. ***But dude, the fingers on the net thing? Isn't that a big no no? Yep it is, and i wouldn't recommend it. I panicked a few times and my first instinct was to grab on for dear life :( Focus instead on straightening one's legs and getting back in the airflow! My hands were killing me for about a week after that, as was my back, my chest, my neck, my ass, my knees etc etc ;) Thanks to all who replied to my post; i guess what everyone realises in this sport is that it's VERY inclusive compared to other activities. It's a big buzz just knowing that all these other people have been on the same learning curve at some point, and apparently you're all still loving it! Blue Skies and Feather-Soft Landings to you all, i'll probably see some of you in the various forums (fora?) at some point soon... and who knows, maybe at an actual DZ? tim x
  7. to have a special forum just for people to introduce themselves. that's pretty darned cool. Hi everyone. My name's Tim and i'm a slow faller. I have 23 jumps, and around 20 minutes' tunnel time, 19 of which was spent looking like a seagull in a jet engine. I don't yet have a rig, but i've got a nice jumpsuit which i sometimes dirt-dive in whilst watching my Joe Jennings dvd just to feel a bit more like a skydiver. When i get a better job i'm gonna get a rig and get my knees in the breeze again. I live in Hexham, England (find Scotland on a map and go south of the border a tad). If anyone reads this who knows me, i'll be amazed. I'll be embarrassed too; this post is sh1t. Maybe next time i'll do a decent one, about something. Maybe i'll send in a photo of me looking like a rookie at the Aerokart Tunnel this May, clinging onto the netting with badly-sprained fingers and a look of frustration/self-deprecation on my face. Sorry for this crappy post. Hi everyone. Hope to jump with you all soon
  8. Oh NO!!! I just realised my last comment makes no sense. I was looking at the date the last person to post REGISTERED! lol, shoot me NOW. I'm going to bed, it's way past sleepy-time now.
  9. LOLOL! I just noticed how long it's been since anyone posted on this thread, and I got suckered in to a conversation that's been dead for years. Someone should kill me for free.
  10. I agree with both Wendy and Walt. Alex Crowley's WAS one of the greatest posts of all time. With such a nebulus thread as this, where none of the parameters are clearly defined, nobody can give any definitive opinions, everyone's just bringing their own definitions to the table and it becomes utterly pointless to discuss it. So humour is the only way to go. Awesome post Alex. Do hitmen have a union?
