  1. I recently moved to Charlottesville, VA. If you live near Charlottesville or DC, please PM me.
  2. I like to keep things simple. If I don't need my slider for the jump, why have it in my pack job? I don't have 3-rings on my rig, so there is no way they could release.
  3. I agree and I always pack according to the manufacturers packing instructions. I was just wondering if any manufacturer has ever considered the addition of a tailgate.
  4. I am not having any problems keeping the lines in the middle, but I think having a tailgate on it would add a little bit of security.
  5. Does anyone know if reserve manufacturers have considered using a tailgate to help control the lines? I was repacking my reserve last night and it would have been really nice to wrap something around some of the lines and make sure they stayed in the center.
  6. I searched the forums trying to find out some more information about the Rock Dragon, but was only able to find one review. It is a new canopy, but I am hoping by now that more people have been using it and someone will be able to comment on it.
  7. Has anyone every packed a Smart 190 reserve in a Quasar II container? Aerodyne lists the pack volume for the Smart 190 as 409 cubic inches. A Quasar II size Q6 container has a reserve volume of 465 cubic inches. I called Strong and they said that with a cypress, it would probably be big enough, but the only way to tell, would be to pack it and look at it. I would like to make sure these two pieces of equipment are compatible before I purchase them. Are the Smart reserves really as small as Aerodyne claims they are?
  8. First ten bombs exploded in 4 commuter trains killing 191 people. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3597885.stm Then a new government is elected. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3636599.stm Then spain announces that they are pulling all of there forces out of Iraq. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3637523.stm Appears to be effective in this case.
  9. I understand that using any type of skydiving canopy for BASE is a bad idea. After demoing the reserve and finding out how a 7-cell F-111 is a lot different from a 9-cell ZP, I was curious as to how it compared to a BASE canopy. Even my 7-cell ZP was a lot different compared to the PD reserve.
  10. I put 9 jumps on a demo PD Reserve this weekend. The 7-cell F-111 reserve did not fly or land like a conventional 9-cell ZP canopy. How does a 7-cell F-111 skydiving reserve compare to a 7-cell F-111 BASE canopy?
  11. Does the FAA require that your main be TSO'd or is it just the harness/container and reserve?
  12. I think that is a great idea. Especially for those of us that will be there, but wont be jumping.
  13. Dealing with the Cypres valuation issue only: The Aussies have their own currency, funnily enough. I can't vouch for the Aus $490 claim, but to the US $160 one has to add a US $80 battery pack and shipping both ways. Good point about the costs in Australia being different. The Cypress 2 does not need the $80 battery pack, it is included in the 4-year and 8-year service.
  14. Speaking of bridge day... Fayetville makes a lot of money during bridge day. No one if going to like this idea, but a boycott of bridge day and the resulting loss of revenue might bring some political pressure to bear on the NPS.
  15. That chart shows the Cypress 2 maintenance cost being $490. Airtec claims that it is only $160.
  16. What kind of problems will I have trying to put a 170 in a container designed to hold a 210? Specifically, I would like to put a 170 spectre in a Vector 3 with a V353M container. I currently jump a spectre 190 in an old javelin container and am thinking about getting a vector. In a few years I might want to downsize to a 170 and would like my new container to be able to accomidate it. The reason I am looking at the V353M is because it is the smallest vector that will hold a 193 reserve.
