  2. Well, my time has come. I fly out to florida tomorrow and start AFF/CONSOL/tunnel/FS1 for a 2 week period. Cant wait to get back and update my profile thats been blank for what seems like a lifetime. So, if anyone is kiking about sebastian, give me a shout. Ask for Phil. I cant wait to be in that plane doorway for the 1st time! Phil. ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!

Anyone else doing the same or at sebastian from 8th to 22nd july? I'm staying @ the Ferndale lodge. Gimme a shout. I'm so excited I could crush a grape ! 6. Hi, I was looking for a helmet on the web, just fact finding really so I know hats on offer when I go to Sebastian in July. I found this intresting link and though maybe it's of some use?Maybe incoprorating (if any good) the technology into a skydiving helmet? I realise the image of whatever is behind u in freefall may be too small/field of view to narrow etc. Just thought I'd throw the idea to the lions and see how it gets chewed up. Com'on. Debate it check out the rear viwew technology link http://www.reevu.com/ Phil. ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!
  7. great advice everyone. Thanks again. I had assumed a dytter was to be use along with a wrist mounted alti, having not even jumped yet I wouldnt be confident waiting for a beep in my helmet! Com'on the 8th July ! I cant wait. P ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!

  9. Thx for the reply. I'm doing my AFF and FS1 comencing july 8th in Sebastian florida. Planning on buying alot of my gear out there so need advice prior to me going. Thanks again oh and I dig what you're saying about learning what 4000 looks like ;-) Phil. ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!
  10. Hi, I'm wondering what experianced skygods think of audiable helmet altimeters? I guess having one tucked in your helmets saves having to constantly keep an eye on a wrist mounted alitimeter. I'm thinking experiance leans towards a wrist mounted visual one AND helmet audible, just in case? Thx Phil. ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!
  11. fair point. I also had a road bike till very recently. I was always a visor boy myself. Not much fun being hit on the cheek @ 30mph neh mind 120 , yes it hurt and to add insult to injury the bee stung me on impact ! Just missed my eye so had a lucky escape. Would like to have a bee sting my eyeball !! So, while i like the idea of a full face helmet and also the fact I wear glasses. I'll get more advise on the DZ. tHANKS EVERYONE ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!
  12. Thanks for all the feedback guys and gals. I have however decided to stay for 14 days rather than seven (the flights were way cheaper!!) I am now planning on doing (and the dz say it's certainly possible as long as I'm focused) AFF/CONSOL and my FS1. I wasnt planning on doing the tourist thing so the full 2 weeks is dedicated to absorbing as much as I can. Oh and buying a bonehead Havoc, if it doesnt suit or end up being a pain,,, I'll sit it on the mantle piece and look at it, because boy do they look good Phil. ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!

  14. well thx to everyone who has given me feedback. I'm sure I'll be itching to get back on the forum come the 23rd July and proudly list my licence details and jumps ! I'll pass on all the hellos and who knows I may take a copy of this thread to leave laying around the Zoo bar ! Regards Phil. ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!
  15. now being a newbie I have no idea how all the various bits attach to the canopy etc. But my 1st though was that if you're spinning at high g there is ample scope for using some sort of centrifugal force type device? If i can explain it well enough ! Imagine those types of scales u use to weigh fish with (fish on one end, u hold the other, big spring with an indicator slides down?) Now I'm think of a crude type device attached to the body or leg. As u spin the the sping extends (as if a fish is in the load end)more and more as force increases to a point where it makes an electrical contact that fires the reserve? well I did say I'd explain as best I could ;-) Phil. ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!

  17. I asked the very same question not a week ago my friend. Here u go. But it seems to be "Ask your instructor". check out these threads http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1640533;search_string=doa;#1640533 Phil. ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!
  18. Yeh, I think someone along the way has said it's generally 50+ jumps before they like u using a full face helmet. And also know your EP's backwards, and learn how to open the visor blind folded with one hand. Great. I'm not leaping in and buying one now, but I can see myself buying one after the FS1. U see I wear glasses and see this as my best option. Thx for the feedback Phil. Phil. ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!
  19. whoops, sorry. I was confusing sebastian with another DZ or offer of someone local to the DZ to go and see his shop. Sorry ! Phil. ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!
  20. Stacy> I think sebastian does hava gear shop. I'll hand fire on buying any gear untill a few days into my course. I'll grill lots of pros while @ the DZ, I've got 2 weeks to make an informed desicion and save money while in the USA (I'll be coming from rip off britain). Again, fab response. I'm thinking I should cahnge my posting name. DOA is just a little to close to the bone for a rookie airhead and somewhat tempting fate (aka Dead On Arrival ------------------------------------- When I learn new stuff, it pushes the old stuff out of my brain!
  21. Thx onec again for the info. I had thought it best to buy in the USA but me being me I'm chomping at the bit to get bought into this sport. I'll curn my endorphines till july and try lots of gear on @ the DZ/shops. I take it bonehead helmets are top notch ?
