  1. Question: Why did you cut away your main man? When you are looking for it you'll never find it. When you stop looking for it WHAM it's right in front of your face!
  2. Stood up #1, #2 then landed on my arse for about 8 of them after that I think I was too cocky after the first one. Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  3. Dan your my hero what you say goes!!!!! Jason Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  4. Wow it never fails, when I say something it is taken the wrong way. Safety is my primary concern and I do not blow it off! I was just referring to the way people get into heated discussions regarding safety, and most of the time it is warranted. That’s why I like this place because you can get a lot of input and then analyze it with a trusted instructor/jumper and determine if it safe or the right thing to do. Anyone on here I would hope would take all info from the forums and discuss it with others at there DZ prior to putting it into practical application. Otherwise it would be irresponsible and reckless of that person reading anything within this forum to take what they read and just run out and do it!. I got into this sport because it is fun not because I have a death wish, safety and rational thought are the only things that will keep you alive in this sport. Safety is never dismissed EVER!!!! With that cleared up thank you for your concern. I really wanted to focus on the grad jumps that people have already done. Which hopefully were safe, fun and successful. Obviously being a student I’m not doing some radical dive above my ability levels, my instructors and myself would not allow it. BLUE SKY'S Jason Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  5. I love it when people get all worked up about safety as I said before the dive plan has to get my intructors blessing before they will let me do anything. Just a little more info for ya. I'm not sure if the horny Gorilla will work but it sounds kick ass. Although there needs to be at least two hot chicks in it. Jump plane: C-206 Any thoughts on a train??? 6. SAFETY FIRST! I get to plan my qraduation jump but I don't want to do something stuiped and get me or others hurt. (Not like my instructors would let that happen anyways). I think at least 2 intructors are going to jump with me and the possibility of a couple D license jumpers (Lee if you read this I hope your are one of them!) I was wondering if you guys/gals out in DZ land could share some of your graduation dive flows with me. Now I know every one out there is going to say we don't know your skill level so we can't tell you anything. So I will clear the air by saying what ever I plan will be reviewed by my instructors first! This is just to give me some ideas so I can plan something cool! 6 jumps until I graduate
  7. I just finished getting my sign off on main parachute packing for my A license yesterday. You do have to pack a main canopy without assistance in order to get your sign off. The first pack job I did took me a hour and half, my instructor said it was the slowest pack job he had ever seen before. It took me about 15 try's until I felt semi comfortable packing without help. One of the big problems I had when learnig how to pack was every one has there own style of packing which was a little confusing when I packed with differn't people. If I had it to do all over again I would have just stuck with one packing style until I got my sign off. I'm still learning my own style which will take a lot more packing to get it down solid. Practice makes perfect!! Listen to your instructors they know a hell of a lot more than I do. BLUE SKY'S AFF ROCKS, BE SAFE Jason Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!

  9. Ok you got me!!!! Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  10. WOW to buy custom made free fly pants you are looking at some cash! My girfriend can sew like crazy and said she can make anything if she has a pattern! Any one out there willing to share patterns for freefly pants?? The worst thing about sky diving is what goes up must come down. I wish I could have a 1 hour long free fall with out a tunnel!!! 11. Don't feel bad at all I flunked AFF 3 and about took out a instructor in the process. It really humbled me up which is just what I needed. Time seems to fly by on your first few jumps then it starts to slow down and you get a better grip on things. 8 more jumps until I get my A license and each jump gets better and better. ARCH, REACH, PULL BLUE SKY'S Jason Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  12. Hey I'm a student too but I would have to say if the winds are gusting like that it would be a good day to get some of your ground requirements out of the way!! Remember that there is always another good day to jump, but if you push it that might be your last day to jump. The weather sucks here too, I can feel your frustration. Stiff winds can screw up your day if you exit at the wrong spot you might not make your DZ and end up landing in someones back yard or even worse it can land you in the hospital. Trust your instructors judgement then question it by seeing if you are comfortable with it. I'm a student so basically I don't know shi-. 13. Now did he pull his reserve or did his Cypress Fire? Given what I see he was a moron. I'm a student and when I did the AFF course my instructors drilled me more about emergency procedures than anything else. They also made me do practice pulls in freefall maybe this guy is the reason why. BLUE SKY'S Don't ask me I'm just a student!!!! Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  14. Point taken! 190 for a first rig. Now can that be twiked a little with a semi elipticle or elipticle type canopy? After reading Lisa's article it really got me thinking about the oh shit that happens 5% of the time. I dont want to end up looking like this guy, . Thanks for the input. BLUE SKY'S Jason Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  15. HMMMMM... Does the Spectre 190 fly like the triathalon 190? I really do not like the school bus feel in the 190 triatholon and it seems like when I fly the spectre 170 I can put it down just about any place I want give or take a couple car lengths. I have difficulty cutting the wind in the Tri 190 which is probably due to my lack of experince. I have had no problems cutting wind on the Spectre 170 and the openings have been very docile and landings have been great thus far. Thanks for everyones concerns and not to worry I will be stuck in the Triathalon 190 until I get my own rig. Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  16. Unfortunatley I have a limited resource for rentals, I only have three options to choose from. 190 triatholon and another 190 triathalon and a 230 something. I guess I will have to wait until I get my A license so I can start exploring DZ's with more demo gear. What is the difference between semi elipticle, and elipticle in regards to canopy? Thanks for all the helpful input. Blue SKY'S Jason Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  17. Wow!! That was a well written article! Good job Lisa I am sure you heard that a few times!!! The spectre that I used had a very nice opening and was bad ass to fly although I only jumped it 5 times. Unfortunaley the person who owns that canopy finaly put her own rig together which leaves me with the 190 triatholon school bus again. I think my mind is made up on the spectre 170 for my main but what are the best containers for free flying that can hold a 170 main? Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  18. I guess I wrote my description poorly, I have and will consult my instructors prior to any rig purchase with out a doubt. I was hoping for insight as far as mistakes/triumphs made on first rig purchases thus enabling me to make a logical choice on a new rig and learn from others mistakes. Thanks for your response I can see how people would be reluctant to responding to a student but I assure you this post was not to undermine my instructors insight. Thanks again BLUE SKY'S Jason Psalms 55:22 Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  19. Ny instructors have given me a couple options but was advised to check out the forums and reviews for more info. Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
  20. Ok I really don't know crap but I do know I want my own rig! I figured I better start asking questions before I make some bone head purchase. I have been under two differen't canopy's a Tri 190 and a Spectre 170. The comparison between the two was Like driving a school Bus and driving a dodge viper. So in my limited student brain the spectre 170 seems like a canopy that I could have fun on for a while. As far as reserve, container etc. I have no clue what would be good for me. Any input that you could give would be greatly appriciated! Here are my stats. Jumps 15 in 5 weeks, completed aff in 2 weeks Weight 172lb without rig Age 30 Sanity The only thing that seems to scare me is bad weather and needles. Thaks for your help The Newbie.
