John, In all honesty I try to mimic your SOP for every passenger I take, adding my twist of course. Thanks a million for all that you have given me and taking the time to give those extra words of encouragement when I needed them most. You are world class!! I am a little confused on the direction you are heading. IMHO jokes help calm nerves, obviously jokes need to be tasteful and not at the passengers expense. Our ground crew usually primes passengers that the TI will tell awful jokes on the ride up so I would hate to disappoint. Awful = dumb jokes not raunchy. A little humor makes the experience better and is the intent of the subject. That said... What do you call a fish with no eyes?? Fsssshhhhh Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!

On the way to alti we usual tell a few jokes to help calm our passengers between briefings. Unfortunately we almost always tell the same jokes and it may be time for some new material. Does anyone out there have some short skydiving jokes they can share?? Here are the jokes we use. Why don't skeletons skydive.... Why don't blind people jump... What the monkey say when he got his tail caught in the propeller? Two muffins sitting in the oven..... Two cannibals eating a clown.... What the fish say when it hit a wall.... First off, I didn’t get my TM rating for the money and I do not expect a tip nor do I make suggestions that passengers should tip. Because I truly feel it is important, I try to go above and beyond to make every passengers tandem experience a memory they will cherish for a life time, often times the bi-product of this effort results in a cash tip. However, IMHO the real reward comes when I am successful at creating a positive life long memory for my passengers. I regards to sharing the wealth with others such as pilots, ground crew etc. in all honesty I never gave it any thought until after reading this thread. Now that I think about it, I feel like a greedy little fuck stain and in the future I will pay tips forward to those who were involved in enhancing my passengers experience. Packers, good manifest peeps, fellow jumpers giving words of encouragement should be rewarded however if you are a dick or too busy to give a shit I don’t think warrants an automatic reward from pooled tips. In short reward the desired behavior. Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!

Travel to someplace warm and jump your ass off. That said, if $$$ doesn't allow travel then suck it up and put a ton of clothes on and jump!!. When I first starting skydiving I went on a load in mid Feb and the thermometer in the aircraft read -20F on exit. I was so fucking cold when I landed I couldn't feel my hands. The nutty part is I packed my rig and jumped again that day. Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!

Flaring is over rated... Kidding... My log book entry from AFF3 says to flare sooner and with more power. On that jump I finished my flair after I broke my tail bone. OUCH!!!! That said, your instructors know you best and are the key to your success by providing you tips on how overcome any potential strength issues. Don't use strength as an excuse not to flare or flare completely or you will end up having a log book entry like mine or worse!!! It is great that you are asking questions and seeking advice that is sure fire sign that you want to improve in this sport. However what you do with your instructors advice may determine how long you stay in the sport i.e. listen to your instructors and check with them before trying stuff you learn from DZ.com. Keep up the hard work, AFF is hard and instructor may seem grueling or harsh but understand they have the same goal as you... For you to be a safe skydiver that stays in the sport for years to come.. Agreed, Killing a kid at any speed would be horrible, speeding or not. However kids were not a factor and I am still very happy about the outcome of the ticket regardless of your comment of taking the law into your own hands. You come after me, my family comes after you, your family comes after my family..... That is just stupid. I prefer the justice system and in this case it worked in my favor. Holly smokes it worked!! My attorney earned their money for sure. The judge said no way to about three of the items they suggested to dismiss the ticket but they didn't give up and kept pounding away with technicalities until the Judge dismissed the ticket. Best $300 I have spent when it comes to tickets!!! Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
