  2. I'll definitley be there - and I think I have heard from several other people on the list who will show up. I should be getting there sometime Friday, depending on when I can sneal out of work. Last I heard here's the line up for planes: 2 King Airs Either a Skyvan or an Otter - we are all hoping for the skyvan, but it depends on what Eloy sends up - we should know tomorrow(Thurs) 1 Caravan 1 Stearman Bi-plane - YEAHHHHH! possibly more, but the list above is confirmed. oh and lot's of people to jump with - hope to see all of you there e

  4. Terri don;t sweat the count - or the exit. It comes with time. I think I pretty much screwed up every exit during AFF and many after that too. At 50 jumps I am just really feeling confident and stable when I exit. Glad you got at least your 2 jumps in Saturday even though you didn't get out today e

  6. OK so my copmuter was behaving badly and I couldn't quite get the explanation out as well as I wanted to on that last post. Currently - or at least before last week class B and class C airspace looked something like this with the bottom line representing the ground: ---------------- | | --------------- | | ---------- | | ----- The new restrictions would make it look like: ------------ | | | | | | ------------- hope that helps e
  7. Class B airspace = airspace over maior airports such as LAX, SFO Washington DC Chicago etc. This is the most restrictive and controlled airspace accessible to civilian aviation. The airspace is set up like an upside down wedding cake in that the higher up you go the larger air space it covers. If this is true it will be interesting to see how they handle things in places like here in the Bay Area and other major metro areas where class B airspace sits over top of many other airports with their own Class C or D airspace. e

I live over in Albany(just above Berkeley) and having commute partners out to any of these places would be great. It sounds like progress is being made, so keep your fingers crossed e ------------------------------------------ FAA to issue notam permitting some VFR operations today 9/19/01 1:30:03 PM, ET — AOPA has learned that FAA will issue a notam today between 4 and 6 p.m. ET that will permit the resumption of some VFR operations. AOPA President Phil Boyer has talked at length with FAA Administrator Jane Garvey and the head of FAA's Air Traffic Services. They had just come from a meeting with Department of Defense and national security officials. "We made some progress towards more VFR flight," Garvey told Boyer. But she said that VFR privileges would not be restored all at once. "As Secretary of Transportation Mineta has already said, there will be a series of phase-ins, with operations restored incrementally." Garvey said that FAA will continue daily meetings with national security officials, and that the agency will continue work to free up more types of VFR operations. "If you don't like what you hear today, just stay tuned," said Boyer. "More privileges will be restored as time goes on. And AOPA will be there to make sure that the needs of all pilots are addressed, if not today, then tomorrow." The notam will not be issued until this afternoon in order to give FAA time to brief all Flight Service Stations on exactly what flight operations will be permitted. AOPA had criticized FAA for not keeping FSS personnel completely informed. FAA is now sending twice-daily faxes to all FSSs so the briefers can provide accurate information, not rumors, to pilots. AOPA has installed its Vice President of Air Traffic Services, Melissa Bailey, at FAA headquarters to ensure that FAA understands the operational needs of general aviation pilots and that the notams are clear and consider all possible circumstances. "We also now have a better idea of what national security officials are trying to protect," said Boyer. "All of us can easily understand that they want to protect the major U.S. urban areas which contain our nation's financial and government centers. They are also concerned about hub airports and commercial airline passengers. "They also have a continuing concern about civilian flight training, which frankly, we have a little more difficulty understanding," said Boyer. AOPA will update this web site with the specifics of the VFR notam as soon as it is released.
  11. Well currently they are not even letting hanggliders or paragliders fly either. I thought I would go out and try paragliding since I couldn;t jump last weekend, but even they are still grounded. e
  12. I believe this is what you are referring to - from the NOTAM posted @ uspa.org 3. PART 135 IFR AND VFR OPERATIONS ARE AUTHORIZED TO OPERATE WITH AN ASSIGNED DISCRETE BEACON CODE. PART 135 AIRCRAFT THAT DO NOT HAVE A COMPANY CALL SIGN MUST FILE A "T" PRIOR TO THE AIRCRAFT TAIL NUMBER (FOR EXAMPLE, "TN552Q"). It at least makes me feel optimistic that we might get off the ground this weekend - Personally I can't quite remember what is covered under part 135 vs 91 (Part 91 is still grounded unless you live in Alaska) e
  13. I am not really sure where I will be in Thailand - my trip planning is still in the works and a lot of it may be left to spontaneity once I get there. I just figured if there were any DZs and I knew where they were ahead of time I might be able to get a couple of jumps in while I was there. thanks for the info
  14. I would like to believe this is true, but at the moment the FAA, USPA and AOPA all still say VFR traffic is grounded with the exception of agricultural activities. That said I hope what you report is true and that the updates on the websites are old. Hey maybe the DZs out in the farmlands could start picking up some side income and get us back in the air at the same time;) e

What you are attempting is a pretty monumental task - I know a couple people out there who could probably pull off a reasonable job on it but these are professional retouchers who do this everyday and it would take literally days if not more to complete somthing like this. I have done a lot of retouching, but wouldn't touch a project of that sort of scope. The previous post suggests the blur tool which may work to an extent, but I would definitely try and clone in some of the surrounding image first then work with other tools such as the blur tool to smooth that out where necessary. e
