  1. Hello Torrent, The people at Freefall Express are great and I'm sure you will benefit with great instruction. My company has a facility in Neosho and so I get down that way every few months and so maybe we can share some military jump stories. I hope to be down that way in June and if I am lucky there will be good weahter for the hillbilly boogie which Freefall Express does over the Father's day weekend. Welcome to the fraternity. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  2. Hello Eviscerate3 and AerialGnome, I jump in Iowa and I'm sure we will cross paths. All of the DZ's in Iowa have excellent instructors and I look forward to doing some jumps with both of you. Remember to put Couchfreaks on your calendar for your Labor day plans. Welcome to this great fraternity called skydiving. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  3. Hello AerialGnome, Living in Des Moines, there are two DZs that are fairly close. They are Winterset and Brooklyn and both DZs offer a good vibe and good instruction. I currently jump at Winterset but if you have any questions about either DZ please send me an email. Welcome to the sport. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  4. Hello Curacao, Skydive Iowa is located west of Iowa City and they have a great facility with bunk houses and a good vibe. They have a cessna 182 and a cessna 206. Paradise Skydiving is also in the vicinity at Vinton,Iowa and they have a cessna caravan. 5. Like I told Bolas, don't forget your lingerie and it sounds like you may need 6 different lingerie outfits if you are only jumping 6 times. I for one will definitely be looking forward to the hottie from Chicago jumps.
  6. Don't forget your lingerie. There will be lingerie dives and EVERYONE in Georgia talks about how damn sexy Bolas looks in lingerie. However, there is a beer truck that goes 24/7 and so wear the lingerie at your own risk.
  7. I always look forward to partying with the PR crew. See you guys soon. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  8. It is Winterset and we sometimes have jumping during the week if enough club members want to jump. However I can give you a number to call for our DZ manager if you want to find out for sure. Winterset has a great vibe and the atmosphere is very welcoming. PM me for a number if decide to bring your gear. 9. Well if you are going to be a muff brother you pretty much have to be an asshole. All the muff brothers I know are assholes. muff, muff, muff Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  10. The jump school is 2-3 weeks and during the school a soldier will make 5 jumps. Normally a paratrooper will only make one jump a day but there can be exceptions. In order to stay current and recieve jump pay a soldier is supposed to jump at least once every 3 months. However a jump in January and a jump in June would meet the requirement. 11. I think the number is three. The three musketeers, the three stooges, and of course a three-some. Of course I would consider a seven-some
  12. If by test, you mean pulling the reserve handle and watching the launch. Yes I have tested it several times. I am a rigger and I always pull the reserve to watch the launch whether it be my rig or a customer's rig. If by test, you mean have I had a reserve ride with the new set up then no I have not tested it. However, there is a video of Ted Strong testing it and the launch seemed "forceful" and it caught air quickly. 13. I can give you my opinion. I think it is a quality rig and I have put many many jumps on mine. The new mod really ensures that the reserve pilot chute will launch out into the air very forcefully. It has a very good spring loaded pilot chute. The cordura is 1000 denier and not 500 denier like some of the other rigs on the market. Mine is comfortable and I would get another one. I have owned two quasar rigs. 14. Elsinore Rigby is clever and I also like Piece Out. Think of how stupid the average person is and realize that statistically half of them are stupider than that.
  15. Based on your statement I get the feeling that the instructor has identified something that makes him/her feel that this may not be a sport for you. It isn't a sport for everyone. Do some serious soul searching and decide if this sport is a match for your personality and skill set. IF it is a match then continue but if it isn't a sport for you then now would be a good time to persue other interests. Either way I'm glad you made a jump and welcome to our sport.
