sorry about that...my fault...you get 3 feet of snow and your mind starts to wander a bit. Off to warmer climates I go!!!

I have heard of one guy, taking AFF to learn to BASE. He graduated and as far as I know hasnt jumped out of a plane since. I dont know if that is true or not, but I think you would be really hard pressed to find someone to teach you the ropes of BASE without having the qualifications to BASE without a relative degree of safety.

Freaksis, are you feeling alright this morning???

I havent had any issues with my sabre, in fact I just downsized and got another one. I havent been whacked, yet. (knock on wood) Is the canopy collapsing on you or are you getting end cell closure???

Its in the February 2001 issue.

I have seen them used for training purposes (non-jumping stuff just to show students how a canopy is put together) or they make a great roof for a Tiki Bar...unfortunately they dont hold up well under flames. We cremate them so they can go to canopy heaven.

Go to Base Logic and read. There are also a lot of links on there that are really good. From what I have read, it is anywhere from 150 to 200 jumps minimum. Canopy control is the biggest reason for that, plus you really have to know how & why a canopy flies and how to use it to save your life.

I heard from a rigger that your canopy would be more solid due to the moisture. More particles...more stability is the theory I guess.

I dont know about the PD tests but the major reason that they currently limit reserve repacks to 3 months is because of the old reserves. Silk had a higher degredation rate. Today with modern reserves, there isnt the need to pull these things out as often. That is why the USPA is looking to make a reserve repack 120 days. They are supposed to announce that rather soon I think.

Yeah, you should see some of the whuffos & tandems' reaction when people call me that at the DZ. Its pretty funny actually...As far as that little mishap, I find it really odd. It was called the "Jump Below the Wind" boogie wasn't it??? Where's the irony in that?!?!?! I would really be interested to hear the full story.

Thanks!!!

actually I hate yogurt, I am just exceptionally bored at work. 1 Day left until Moab! I do quite a bit of meditation though. That seems to work quite nicely, especially with skydiving.

When you speak to him ask him how his trip to Borneo went...That must have been pretty scary.

my sentiments exactly...

I usually cock it right when I set the canopy down and then again before I put the D-bag in the container (carefully making sure that there isnt any fabric coming out of the grommet-thats how friction holes get burnt into the canopy.) But you are right...the P/C can become uncocked when you are messing around with the main.

I have jumped an Oddysee and I have consequently bought one (arriving in April). I thought it was great...very comfortable and an all around solid rig with some new features. If you are going to be doing strictly freeflying, the voodoo is made for freeflying. My roommate has one and loves it!!! I do RW with a smattering of freeflying. I would recommend the voodoo because thats its design and the pin protection is better and more suited for it. I am not saying that the Javelin's is bad. They are both solid state of the art rigs. You may also want to look into the Mirage too. The pin protection on that is really good. I would also recommend talking to a rigger to see what they have to say from a technical perspective.

If you really want to take on a task...take on the legalization of BASE jumping!!!

Recommendation: If you are going to land in a field with animals (especially a lone bull), try to keep as far away as possible from them. For your safety & theirs.
