  1. I think that some of you have missed my point. My major point is that cypress & RSL are no substitute for Safety Procedures. That is what I mean when I say "jump like you dont have one". However, I am fully aware that there are situations where your life may depend on it to remember that you do have one. That is a whole different thread. My apologies for oversimplifying things. Rock on, be safe & have fun!!!

  2. Yep, I ordered it the day I got back...I got it all tricked out...custom embroidery, mostly black with charcoal/black houndstooth, weight pockets, hip & chest rings...all the bells & whistles. Sunpath has been real good with me. they gave me a ship date of April 23rd...I cant wait!!! How have things been going for you???

  3. I personally cant speak from experience, but I know somebody who just sent their 2 pin to be converted to a 1 pin while they are getting their 4 year check up. I am also fairly certain that they were jumping a 1 pin rig while they had a 2 pin cypress. I wouldnt imagine that it would do anything other than take up space, although I would also think that you would want to try to protect any fabric from getting caught in a "loose" cutter. Sorry its not total info but what you are asking can be done. I am not sure how much it cost him to convert it, but I can ask.

  4. If you get NESN (New England Sports Network), they do a show that is very similar except its got footage of my first 2 BASE jumps!!!! Its called RUSH! and is all about what makes skydivers, BASE jumpers, Free climbers tick. Pretty interesting. Here are the showtimes...3/14 @ 8 PM, 3/18 @ 9 PM, 3/20 @ 8 PM, 3/24 @ 7 PM, &
    3/25 @ Noon
    Enjoy!

  5. If you are really hard up for a fix, go to www.perriscam.com That may help. Its realtime skydiving from Perris Valley. It gets me through work on a summer day and weekends like this where we are getting 3 feet of freakin' snow!!!

  6. Very good point Skybytch, if you spend all your time in a hard arch, you arent going to be effective flying your body. If you have your arms tucked in and your legs back, when you try to dock you are going to shoot up.

  7. whats going on??? This is Barry. I started a thread last night entitled "the search...". There was some discussion on that too. The Search rocked, especially getting a new custom Odyssee for 50%!!!
    Thanks again Skydive U!

  8. If you want to see an amazing video. check out "First BASE". It is about 50 minutes of some of the most amazing BASE footage you will ever see. The editing is much better than typical BASE tapes. They show you a lot of stuff from Norway. They even have the first tandem BASE jump. Phenominal video.

  9. That show is pretty cool. It is kind of funny though. Mtv makes it seem more dangerous than it is sometimes. For example, when he set his parachute on fire. He had a rig with 3 parachutes in it when Mtv said he only had 2. Its still a pretty good show and they do some crazy stuff, which I wouldnt try. He has almost bit it a couple of times (landing on the top of a moving train & freefalling in a SUV). He definately has to have a lot of technical help to make things safe.

  10. Nah, the wind tunnel is extra...unfortunately. If you go with the Skydive U staff, you get 10 minutes. I cant remember how much they were charging but it was cheaper than what the tunnel normally charges and you get free coaching. I ended up going to the tunnel as soon as I landed in Orlando. I split 2 15 minute blocks with a buddy of mine. 10 minutes is a good amount of time, you typically go in 2 minutes at a time. You really dont want to go in too long, you start to get tired and sloppy so you dont learn as much, but you could get more time if you wanted to or go on a couple of different nights.

  11. It cost $1,100 bucks and worth every penny!!! You started every morning at around 7 and ended at ???. There were always post jumping activities, seminars, wind tunnel, tiki bar. At the end of the week I needed another week of vacation to rest up! It comes to $55 bucks a jump.

  12. I just wanted to mention Skydive Universty's "The Search". I went to it this year (it's their 2nd one) and I had one of the best times that I have ever had!!! The whole program is 20 jumps, which you make with you own coach (some of the best in the world). It is their Basic Body Flight course. If you have ever been on a jump and couldnt figure out who was moving in the formation, this is the best way to hone your skills because you know that your coach isnt moving!!! You get to work on everything from the basics to superpositional moves. You are there for 4-5 days and they take you to the wind tunnel and they have seminars (canopy control, skydiving psychology, competitive info, etc.) They also have manufacturers there so you can demo different canopies, rigs, altimeters, etc. The people there were great and it was a total blast! I would highly recommend that you go if you can next year if you want to work on your skills. Thanks again Skydive U.
PS. they have a raffle at the end and they gave away about 30 prizes to the 50 participants selected. I won 50% off a Javelin!!!

  13. I have one that has stick figure pictures on it in several frames. "Boy loves to skydive", "Boy meets girl", "Boy thinks girl is hot", "Girl wants boy to stop skydiving", "Boy tells girl to get lost". I believe that BlueSky Sports has a "girl meets boy" shirt as well. So true...but remember 1 thing. Never cutaway unless you have a reserve!!!

  14. The skyball is usually a referrence point for freeflyers. They typically use it to do maneuvers around. They are then automatically aware if they are moving around while doing their moves.

  15. I think that there are wind tunnels for canopies, but they are only for testing. I know that they use a wind tunnel that is typically used to test aircraft wings so they can test wing suits. They are ridiculously expensive though. Something like 10k a day if I remember correctly.
