  1. Hey Mark - It's Eric, I was in Dave's course that you were at. My 8610 does says yes to Airman certificate, but my temporary certificate Dave gave me shows pending for certificate number. So contact Dave?
  2. For anyone that has multiple FAA certificates, can you tell me if the certificate number is the same for all, or are they separate? I've had a private pilot certificate for 10 years or so and just recently got my rigger certificate (I still only have the temporary airman certificate). Will my certificate number for the rigger certificate be the same or will there be a separate number? I'm just curious if I can sign with my existing certificate number, rather than "pending" in the meantime. Thanks for any info!
  3. Haha nice jumping with you Foggy! Welcome back!
  4. I'm sure I could contact the people he's left negative feedback for, not sure I'm going to go to that trouble though. I'm just leaving it as is. If he leaves negative feedback so be it, I'll contact ebay and see if they'll remove it. Even if they won't I can comment on it and move on. Honestly I'm tired of selling on ebay anyway so I won't really lose a lot of sleep over the negative feedback.
  5. Just chatted online with ebay about it... They said that if the auction stated no returns then it is OK to uphold that policy. If he files a case I can respond to it, and appeal to remove negative feedback. Sounds like that's the way I'm going to go. Thanks for all the replies!
  6. Not all directed to you Wendy... He's got 24 feedback, all as buyer, all positive. He's left negative feedback twice as the buyer too. It sounds like the IR receiver on the Tivo itself is bad, he tried another remote, the remote light comes on but the Tivo light doesn't when the remote is used. The item stated that the Tivo works fine, but is several years old and is being sold as-is. Where does that "works fine" obligation stop? It did work fine the day I put it in the box to ship out. Does it have to work fine when he receives it? For how long? The more i think about it, I'm just going to tell him I've already offered more than the auction stated, and that if he's unhappy to leave negative feedback. If he does I'll contact ebay and see if they'll remove it. It's shit like this that makes me not want to sell on ebay at all. If it's a small dollar item, it's not worth the time/effort, and if it's a large dollar item and this type of things comes up it's an even bigger pain in the ass.
  7. Good point. I'd have to look but it was at least several days between the item being received and he contacting me. He says he was contacting tivo support, finding another remote to try, etc during that time. I'll probably leave it as is, but that's a good idea to contact ebay if I do receive negative feedback.
  8. Thanks Dave. That's the way I was leaning, but I didn't want to feel like I was screwing someone over.
  9. Well it's not even that much money, it's more the principle (and I do want to do the right thing). My thing is, what if he somehow broke it? Now I have a non-working Tivo and I'm out shipping costs both ways.
  10. I sold a 4ish year old Tivo on ebay a few weeks ago. It's worked fine for me the entire time, worked fine the day it was boxed up (had to use it to wipe off all of my settings, etc) and shipped out. The auction clearly stated that the Tivo was working, but was several years old and was being sold as-is with no returns. A few days ago the buyer contacted me to let me know the remote wouldn't work. Turns out it seems like the remote works (he even tried a different remote) but the Tivo isn't for some reason receiving the signal from the remote. Anyway he is requesting a full refund, including shipping charges or he is going to leave negative feedback. I offered to refund the purchase price and he covered the original shipping, but he refused that. He also said if I want the item back I have to cover return shipping as well. I can see both sides, I'd be pissed if I bought something on ebay and it didn't work, but it was working when I shipped it and I sold it as-is. I'd like to think I'd have been happy with a refund of the purchase price and I covered shipping, had I been the buyer. What's the right thing to do?
  11. Have you tried downloading malwarebytes and running a scan? That seems to get rid of a lot of stuff. Although I've seen times where the malware won't let you download malwarebytes, or even install it if you download on another PC and move it over. Worth a shot though. Sometimes the least time consuming thing I've found is formatting and starting fresh, sucks without a backup though.
  12. Does anyone know how to get either a Neptune 2 or a Protrack (preferably both) to download to Paralog on a Mac? I have a USB IR adapter for the Neptune and a USB to Serial adapter for the Protrack I use on the PC, but I can't get either to work on the Mac (even though Paralog itself works fine). Does anyone know if this is possible or do I have to use a PC to download (and then transfer the data file to the Mac to view)? Thanks for any help.
  13. Haha I had to find a similar one after watching that video!
  14. I didn't realize there was more to the version, I'll check when I get home and let you know.
  15. It's probably about a year and a half old, but it does have the latest software version on it, 2.6.2. It's on its way to Alti-2 so they can check it out and see if anything's wrong. They did offer to look at it at no charge and turn it back around the same day they receive it.
  16. It was mid 60's on the ground. It's certainly been jumped in colder weather with probably an older battery. I have noticed sometimes when it's colder out, the LCD doesn't respond as quickly. I posted in Alti-2's forums and they are having me send it in to check the battery connection. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks.
  17. I do try to remember to estimate my altitude in freefall and under canopy, and then check to see how close I am. I still tend to rely on my altimeter especially for setting up in the landing pattern. I know altimeters and other equipment fail, I guess I just wanted to see if it was fairly common with the Neptunes or whether something might be wrong with mine. Thanks for the replies guys.
  18. Very true. Analog altimeters may be just as likely to fail, just in a different way. Thanks.
  19. Hey Kelly, I don't have any springs in the battery slot on my Neptune, but I always have problems getting the rubber seal in place before I put the screws in. I know my Protrack has those little springs that have to be in place. Maybe I just bumped it somehow on exit and caused the battery to move for a second. Thanks for the suggestion though, and for the ride back yesterday...
  20. Yea, I guess when you go from a regular analog altimeter to a digital one, you run more of a risk of it not working properly. I think it still just surprised me to see it say press any key instead of my altitude! I was jumping with some other people so I saw their altimeters, plus I had an audible, so pull time wasn't a problem. I kept checking it in the landing pattern though, before remembering it wasn't working. I replaced the battery so hopefully that helps. Thanks for the replies.
  21. I had kind of a weird thing happen with my Neptune today... It was the first jump of the day, and it acted normally all the way to altitude. I remember seeing it in the 12's around the 2 minute call. The next time I looked at it was in freefall and the display said Neptune with the S/N and said Press any key. I waited until I was under canopy, and then pressed a key and the display went to the home screen with the time and never went to altitude mode the rest of the jump. The logbook didn't log a jump on that jump either. I just put a new battery in it a couple weeks ago, and don't remember hitting it on anything on exit. Has anyone else had this happen? The Neptune worked normally on the next couple of jumps. I did get to make my first jump without an altimeter though, unplanned as it was.
