  1. I just recently went to skydive america palm beach and was one of the lucky customers that got my bags searched. The women that was searching my bags had no idea what this odd looking thing in my bag was. So she went to go get her manager. Finally, someone with a clue!! The verdict was: Parchute equipment may be taken on the plane, but it must be checked at baggage claim not carried on. This was the answer that I got straight from security. MrManta must have gotten lucky getting his through security. So, just put it in a bag, lock it up and everything will be fine
  2. Michele, Just had to buzz in here and say CONGRATS!! By the way... WOW, do you have a way with words! If I could describe a moment in my life with half of that charisma, I'd not only be a gentleman, but a scholar as well. Blue Skies ALL 1111 & 4 ALL

    Cost of AFF?

Isssss anyboooooody ooooout therrrrrre? I have a whuffo friend that I have just convinced to become a skydiver. However, he would like to know which way is the cheapest (yeah, like that is possible) way to go. Since I graduated as a S/L student, I only know 1/2 the answer. Can someone please give me a rough estimate of how much it costs to complete an AFF course? Thanx Much ALL 1111 & 4 ALL
  4. I'm with everyone else. I haven't been in the sport long enough to know someone that burned in. However, when it does happen, God speed to that person. I mean I hope they enjoyed life, because I will continue living mine. I posted a little something earlier about why I jump. It's called "One time for your mind". Please check it out and let me know what you think. ALL 1111 & 4 ALL Edited by DAYGS on 7/13/01 10:51 AM.
  5. Em, that's some pretty twisted shit!!! I mean, think about it. Rock a by baby On the rooftop When the wind blows The baby I'll drop... What'll they think of next?
  6. If you’re going to live, Know you’re going to die. Why live your life, Fearing living life? Why worry about, Consequences or repercussions? Slow down for a minute, And listen to my discussion. Chase the unknown. ‘Cause you never know, What lies around the corner, Or what the future holds. Have a plan for your life. Never to forget, Live life day to day, So you have no regrets. One last thing, That I must clarify. You haven’t lived life, Until you skydive!!! ALL 1111 & 4 ALL
  7. I would just like to point out that when your kids mimic your skydiving, and the people around you start to notice you relating different aspect of your life to skydiving you must be in LOVE with this sport! Keep up the crazy shit ... it's what separates us from everyone else. Much Luv
  8. ...WHEN YOU GET PAID 8 HOURS A DAY FOR BEING ON DZ.COM
  9. You know, now that I think of it, I am losing friends every weekend. I actually took this last weekend off from skydiving (eyes closed ready to be smacked...), and when I got home from my cottage, I had no missed calls and no voice-mails. This coming from someone who's phone used to never stop ringing. It is a hard decision to make. However, the feeling that I get when I'm at my dz is irreplaceable. There are no worries there, nor does anyone want to talk your ear off about bills, relationships, work... bla-bla-bla. Not to mention, it's the only time outside of my dreams I GET TO FLY!!! LET'S GET HIGH (alt. that is)
  10. I do know that this canopy was relined ~300 jumps ago, but I haven't gotten them checked yet. A couple of people at my dz said that they had a few hundred more jumps on them. Thanks for all your input. It sure is nice to know that there is a place that I can come to get all the info I need.
  11. WORK? What's that? OH YEEEAAH, that thing we HAVE to do between skydives. Wait a minute, I'm here now, I keep forgeting. Seems like ever since my first pathetic release of a c-182 strut, this skydiving addiction is all I can think about. SKIES
  12. I need some help deciding if this rig is priced right and if it is even the right rig for me. I weigh 165-170. The rig I am thinking of buying is a Sabre 170 main, PD176 reserve, cypres that just had it's 4 yr. check and new batteries, collapsable PC/slider, all wrapped up in a vector. Asking price is $2300. Let me know what you think.
  13. HOLY SHIT !!! You guys could confuse an eskimo looking for ice! That'll teach you to ask a simple question. Hold on a minute, let me make sure I got this straight... I should boogie to my boss and snivel to get out of work, then boogie to the boogie while boogie-ing from that a**hole cop that's boogie-ing after me trying to take jumps away from me, then snivel to get on a plane because I kicked some students ass for bumping me...(breath)...then hope I have a snivel so I don't get a line dump, all because I'm trying to drink and dive. Oh yeah, and don't forget to hook up if you have time!!!!! (Duh, which way do I go, which way do I go?) SKIES & OPEN EYES
