  1. My first paid tandem let me know that he paid for the whole student package and was going to go on to be a skydiver. I smile when I think that my first work jump was further pollution to the world of skydiving, ahha. I have also been trying to get him to come out an make a jump at BD '08. I just had a blind passenger with 15 previous jumps. He has a bad right hand, so he had to do a left hand pull on a Strong system and did smashingly with just a tap on the hand at pull time. There was the girl that was a ball of laughs on the ground and then SCREAMED the whole way down. And every time we spiralled under canopy. Good times. Not again!
  2. If you are describing what I think, where it kind of looks like doing an Egyptian-impression, that is how I fly my sitfly. It gives you better control for slight variations in speed because you can spill some air with your hands to speed up, or push down to slow up a bit. The arms straight out method is awkward to me now, plus it does allow for easier docking because mroe flying is being done with your legs. Not again!
  3. I cannot find any skydiving-related write ups about this one. Anyone using one? Anyone know anyone using one? Thoughts? Not again!
  4. PJ was a wonderful human being. He was quick on the draw when it came to comments. I remember when I was learning to pack and wanted him to repack it because it was UGLY and he told me I had to jump my own pack job eventually. That was one of the scariest moments of my life, but I made it. Closing time at the DZ talking to PJ was always a good time. He will be missed. Not again!
  5. Necessary? Is jumping out of planes necessary? No. It DOES make for a better video, IMO, for the person who is going to come out, do one jump and never do another. In fact, it could potentially make them look into continuing to skydive because there are so many ways to fly one's body, not just belly to earth. I have seen it done by folks with several thousands of jumps under their belts who KNEW what they were doing because they had put in many long hours in the air and CAN do it. Necessity is not the issue there. I will be going for my tandem rating in a few short months. Would I be doing such a thing? Hell no, because I know that I am nowhere near the league of skydiver that Jack-o is. I will be plenty scared shitless my first few hundred tandems to even worry about doing such a thing. However, hats off to him and I have personally seen Mr. Bangs watching videos at CK of such things going on and he did not seem to have a problem, or groundings would have happened LONG ago. That is my piece for now. Not again!
  6. Ok, so I have an NVertigoX with a L-bracket on it that my PC7 was supposed to rest on, but right before it was to go up for its beer jump, it decided to crap out on me. So, now the question lies in what camera to get next for my side mount. I do not have a CamEye currently, but one would be keen. I know that would be a problem with the HC series because the LANC port is on the right side, right where my L-bracket is. I have a Kenko 37mm .43 lens and I will be getting whatever step-up ring is necessary. Anyone have any strong opinions toward or against the PC9/109/110 and/or HC20/26/40? I have been eyeing up a PC9 on ebay, but it just snuck over $200 and I am teetering on it. The 110 is also looking pretty interesting. So, thoughts? Help a fledgling videot out. Not again!
  7. One tandem instructor I know asks the student to pick a number between one and ten. He then unhooks an attachment point and says "Try again." Oh, the looks that one gets... Not again!
  8. Word. I DO have enough money saved to keep me paid for for at least 6 months. If I went to FL I would get a temp job and try to knock out about 160 in about 4 months... otherwise, it is a jump fest at CK as soon as the weather starts to calm down. I could easily knock out 200+ jumps at CK if I make a concerted effort of it. Basically, that is where all of my money is going to get dumped from now on. That and a camera helmet and camera with it. Another useful skill to have. Not again!
  9. Just some quick thoughts from whoever cares to drop some would be splendid. I am looking into cutting away from everything by the end of next season after getting my AFF and tandem ratings. Now, do I quit my current asst. mgr. position at the end of January, head down to FL for a few months of temp. work and hard jumping, return to NJ to keep jumping while working any skydiving/non-skydiving related jobs as possible to earn money OR do I stay at my current job, net about an extra $2800, and just start jumping as much as possible in Jersey starting in April? Thoughts? Anyone? I am very confused these days, hahah. Not again!
  10. I will take either, or both. I have no real pride, so I will do what it takes to earn money. Err, well, to a point, I guess. Basically, I just need enough money to keep me jumping and have some money to tide me over until I get back jumping at CK. Not again!
  11. I was basically planning on doing a tent or my car as my sleeping arrangements. I will do about anything for work, I am not picky so long as it pays for my food and jumps. That help any? hehe Not again!
  12. Ok, I intend to move to FL for 16 weeks of hard jumping. While there I will be trying to get some sort of temporary job to fund even more jumping and tunnel time. The big question is, where do I jump? My main choices were DeLand, Z-hills, Sebastian or Space Center, unless there is overwhelming support for another DZ. I intend to work on my freeflying, plus trying to get ramped up to get my tandem and AFF ratings. So, any advice is gladly welcomed. So, which should it be? Not again!
  13. The first song is by Juno Reactor from his Shango album, if I am correct. The second song is a cover of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" by Apocalyptica. That IS a sweet video, btw. Not again!
