  1. i have owned a safire2 and a sabre2. i much preferred the sabre2. i dives like a mutha^%#%@#, and i found the openings sweet and on heading. i guess it helps if you pack properly. safire2 has longer openings, which can cause problems. i once dumped out at 2400ft and was just open at 1000ft. that scared me a little, as i don't think 2400ft is exactly low to be opening. the safire2 recovers from a dive very quickly, has very high rear riser pressure - not great for freestyle. both were fairly nice canopies. i would say that neither is an 'intermediate' canopy. they both are both very fast, and excellent for swooping, especially the sabre2. Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  2. Yup definately thanks had the halloween boogie in my schedule for ages! Lets meet up if i can help you out at all.... I jump a yellow with blue ribs VX but im sure we can hook up at registration.... Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  3. Hi Dude, Sounds like youve got the idea - thats what i tell my swoop students. You wanna build up speed, switch onto risers and toggles - you want to be careful though with the 30 feet estimate better to be too high so bring it around until it feels about right to transfer. Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  4. hey man, i have jumped all over the place in england. you should get into swooping my friend - it is the best! i'll give you some tips if you like? Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  5. Hi Remster, No havent been to any competitions yet cause im busy trying to help out the less experienced jumpers at my dz so I dont get much time. Wanna try and get out to one though.... have you done much comp stuff? Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  6. Hi Jezz! Yes ive been to Hinton and swooped a couple of times- its great to see such an advanced dropzone in operation. I like their big aircraft compared to my cessna dz. I was just trying to help people with their questions because at my dz Im the only one swooping and i get questions like these all the time. I knew my canopy was also cross braced I just didnt want to confuse the original post by adding this into the elliptical question. Its important to take things slowly with canopy instruction, I have found. Sorry to Tonto if i inadvertently gave you advice. Wasnt trying to be rude. Im sure you are a mean swooping dude! Yeehah! I love long swoops. Long swoops to all! Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  7. Hi Skymama, I started to read your post and I thought you were agreeing with me until I read a bit further and then i think you were trying to be sarcastic. I was only trying to say that for your experience a spectre would be fine. Of course there are other canopies out there which are suitable for women. The silhouette for example, this is made of both ZP (zero porosity) and F1-11 material (a slightly porous material used in older more docile parachutes). I was simply saying that there are loads of parachutes out there on the market and i just wanted you girls to be safe. This has blown completely out of proportion so im sorry, of course women can fly what they want - its just some canopies are more suited to them. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  8. hey skymama, i wasn't saying that you were bad. i'm sure you're a really excellent canopy pilot. if you look as good under canopy as you do in your photo, then i'm sure a sabre2 is fine for you. i was simply making the point that the spectre is more popular with women. i sure performance designs would confirm that if you asked them? once again, i'm sorry for upsetting you. Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  9. hello everyone, i think maybe !everybody! missunderstood what i was saying. i was never reccomending that skymama downsize! a sabre2 loaded at only 1 is a waste! i was simply saying that she might be better on a spectre at that wingloading. "As for the female market comment, there are a few ladies on the PST and international swoop tours who could teach you a thing or two on how to fly a Velo or VX." -ok, sure there are the odd few exceptions, but i am a swooper, and my first concern is to help others in flying safely. what's wrong with that? sorry for the aggravation caused. Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  10. Hi Skymama, Sorry obviously offended you with my reference to chicks being safer on the spectre. No offence meant, its just my opinon - we swoopers obviously like everyone to be safe and when you have been swooping for a while you just try and help people out. I dont know what dz you jump at but if we ever meet maybe i can take you out on a date to apologise. Really no harm meant maybe see you in Atlanta! Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  11. i'm a bit confused by your post - are you being sarcastic? just got back from my first jump last night, it was awesome. i think the best bit was getting chased by the security guard! this is definitely the sport for me. any advice? 3-2-1 cya! Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  12. hey dudes! i'm buzzing! on top of the world! had a bit of an incident on opening, but got away with it, so it's all good. we got chased by a security guard (that was half the fun!), so don't think i'll be back there for a while. i've been talking to my mate about another site which he says is a lot safer as a lot of other jumpers use it, and we are gonna go next week. can't wait 3-2-1 cya! Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  13. hey jasy baby, i've done a fair few swoops now, and i've found that the most fun way is to pull a front riser, and then stab on the rear risers just above ground level as my canopy doesn't recover by itself (it's a vx). the plastic d link covers have been working ok most times, but sometimes one side slips lower than the other, causing me to flare unevenly - it gives me an involuntary carve, but it looks quite cool! i'm really looking for an alternative to the plastic grips - any reccomendations - as i think that these may also be the reason that i am not getting much distance, and also getting wet alot! Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  14. Hi dude, Elliptical canopies help you to go faster. Ive been swooping for a while now - i have 63 swoop jumps and ive moved to a vx89 to help me with that extra speed that comes from an elliptical canopy. (Dont worry dude, I find that questions like these are quite normal at my dropzone. Our Cessna is quick to 3000 feet and im the only one swooping so i get directed questions like these all the time). Long swoops dude, Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
  15. Hey number 1, V2 swoopgoddars here - would have thought someone like you would have given me more tips as by your profile you seem quite experienced. Im very concerned about the rig or whether im likely to break my leg.. any advice? Give a man a fish and he will feed himself for one day. Give him a swoop pond and he will feed himself forever.
