  1. Jim was one of the evaluators on my AFFICC. When I passed, I asked him what was the best way to get into jumping with "real" AFF stuents. His advise was simple, and true.

    "Do a lot of AFF."

Congratulations to Jim on his 19000 dives!:)

  2. I'm 5'11, 165lbs. I have 2000+ AFF dives, and the last 600 odd have been in Birdman Freefly pantz and a baggy long sleeve T.

During these 600 dives, my fall rate has varied between 95mph, and 157mph, all on my belly. My students have been sub 100lbs to 250 lbs. I've never found greater range wearing anything, ever.

    YMMV.

  3. Hi Peej,

This is a small world we live in, and even here in South Africa, I can feel this loss. The attached pic was taken at the DZ.com boogie in 2003, and JP was part of our "Rare Red Dessert Penguin" Baloon jump misadventure in 2004.

Blue Skies, JP. You are missed.

    Hi Tonto
Thanks for your answer but I had last weekend my first friendly competition and we had hard wind conditions and all (xbraced) had problems with hitting the gates.

Sigh... You're right of course. Terrible canopies. What is wrong with manufacturers today building canopies that can't hit the gates?:(

Seriously - It's the person UNDER the canopy that deternines whether or not they make the gates. There are many, many really talented and experienced CP's who do awesome beerline swoops and who simply cannot consistantly pass through the gates or stay within the course confines having made the gate while in competition. That has nothing to do with the canopy. It's all about the pilot.

  5. Hi again,

Buy an AAD. I need one for an event I'm attending in Germany. I paid $100 for one with 10 months left, and had to cough for a new battery, but compared to what I'll be spending on plane tickets, hotels and jumps in Euro's, it's nothing worth mentioning.

  6. Mmm. Some riggers won't pack stuff that old, and some manufacturers put a 20 year life on their gear.

Mine has about 4 years left on it, and is reserved for the pond and CP competition, leaving my Mirage G4, Fx 93, PD 126 R for work, and my Mirage G3, Safire 109, PD 126 R for Wingsuit dives/AFF back to backs.

    She isn't even remotely ugly.
She is in fact extremely cute.

Here, when the word "cute" is used to describe someone, it means "Ugly but fuckable." I've never heard an animal referenced as cute.

I think your dog is ugly. I mean that in the nicest possible way. I can't see her personality, and to quote Pulp Fiction, "Personality goes a long way."

And then my instructor said that I dropped it. Which was true, in a sense. Only I dropped it from the tree.

    :D

That's not fair. I recon if you can recover it - then it counts as having "kept" it, even if you dropped it at some point.

  9. There's a lot of good stuff down at the bottom of the bonfire barrel. Posts with skydiving in them, and even some with guns and politics from when it was still Talkback and there was more to talk about than fake bodyparts. Some of the people who posted back then even skydived a bit and posted in the topical forums too. About things that had happened to them while they were skydiving.

Best get to work then. My SO wrote Econ yesterday, and procrastination is not your friend.;)

    I'm aware I'm nitpicking here.

Dude. Stop pushing. You cannot compare the way *I* feel to philosophy, or skydiving, or dinner with a group of friends. It's *my* feeling, and I'll share it with one person at a time.
