  1. Yeah, it's especially harsh when people don't read a post properly, then really wind into someone, then see they missed a word and apologise. Or when people ask for advice on how to tell their married SO that they don't love them anymore, and then ask for dating advice in another thread. Or when people with 30 something jumps in year dump their GF of 3 years for a sport they know nothing about. Or when you tell them what you think, statistically, of course, and get attacked for your arogance.

    :D

Yup. It can be tough out there!

If she was the sort to ask such a thing, would she be the same woman you fell in love with in the first place?

    Nice pix.

I said nothing of her asking. If our careers led us to a place where we couldn't skydive, I'd choose to be with her, not stay home close to a DZ. That would be MY call. I have enough dives to know the sky is going nowhere.

  3. She loved every min. I have 70 hi res stills, and she's grinning in every one, from kitting up, the plane ride, the exit, the freefall, and the landing. She's spent nearly 9 years on a DZ. (her birthday's tomorrow) Her sister, mom, dad and grandpa have all jumped, and now she has too.

Anyway. Thread hijack. My GF skydives, and if I had to choose between this sport and her, she'd win.

Ok, I just went back and re-read Tonto's post. I stand corrected, as he did say "statistically". I missed that the first time around.

I missed all the action in this thread cos I spent the weekend skydiving.. 14 nice dives, and on one, joined my 8 year old on a Tandem. I'm sure a lot of you "home of the free" people will have a few words to say about that, but it was fathers day.;)

How much of your spare time are you spending with her as compared to skydiving?

He's been registered for about 9 months, and has 30 skydives. He's clearly not looking for her much at 13000ft. If I were doing 3 jumps a month - I'd stick with the GF, but that's just me. I'm amazed at people who throw away a good 3 year relationship for something that statistically, they won't be doing in a years time.

  6. The best suit for me is the one I jump.. right up until I order a new one. Then the best suit is the one I've ordered. Until I get it. Then the best suit is the next one I want. What we want is always more valuable than what we have. It's a circle of greed.

What you see is what will be.

Not really, only to a certain degree.

Agreed. I visualise perfection on each swoop, but after landing realise it was just awesomely fantastic, and I still have a long way to go, and so end up happy and somewhat disapointed.

When I do AFF, I can't visualise, because the student will do what they will do, so I anticipate instead.

  8. Things are usually always OK until they're not.

I only have 290 wingsuit dives, and I'm not that current on wingsuits, averaging about 6 WS jumps a month. AFF earns my jump money, and I've also recently begun to compete in CP, and that seems to be getting the bulk of my fun dives these days.

My main canopies for AFF are an FX 93 and a Velo 84 at the moment. I think both of those would be too much of a handful for me on a wingsuit jump, and so use a Safire 109.

I wouldn't jump a Mamba with a wingsuit either. I have 20 cutaways already, and I know reserves don't work perfectly every time. What's the point of having a suit that lets you fly for longer when you need to dump so much higher to deal with a mal?

  9. As Chuck said, Just tiring. I did a 3 min 56 sec from 21000ft in Eloy, and I pulled a shade high cos I really wasn't sure how much juice I'd have left in my arms. Of course, now I wish I'd hung on for another 4 secs!

  10. Well, after 5000 odd dives without a helmet, I found it was in the rules and so the bottom line was, if you want to compete, wear a hard shell helmet.

At the meet in Wonderboom I wore a borrowed Gath. It was terrible. Uncomfortable, windy, and I doubt would offer any protection at all.

At the recent nationals, I wore a borrowed Bonehead Pimp Daddy - with the velvet trim - and really, really liked it. After some thought, I ordered the new pimp daddy, that I recieved yesterday. It's simply not what the old one was. I'm disapointed, as it's the 2nd Bonehead "pimp daddy" I've bought. The last one made me look like a penis head. This one less so. Why they need that bump for an audiable when the other side does fine without it, I don't know. That's marketing, I guess.
