  1. I understand how pissing off hearing about "experience" can be when you ask a question. I asked about swooping when I had about 250 jumps and I was simply told to fuck off, it's dangerous and I don't have the experience. I swooped anyway. Looked at people, tried to take it slow, but had to figure it out kinda on my own untill I showed I was worthy of an explanation. This could have gone wrong in sooooooo many ways. And it HAS gone wrong for others. Nowadays, we have Pablo Hernandez coming to give seminars on a yearly basis and the swoop culture has changed, luckily. Here we have a bunch of patient and dedicated people that are giving a wide range of WHY you should take your time, and HOW you should do it. To me, this is gold. It's people like that I wish I met. Many posts here show a great deal of humility even if posters have obviously considerable EXPERIENCE. And this is one thing I hope you can get out of this. Humility is key to survive untill you have "considerable experience". Either that or luck. All work And no skydive Makes Alexis A dull boy
  2. I have about 200 jumps on a Katana 120, then 250 on a Katana 107 loaded at 2.1. I did get some slightly off heading opening consistently, and every once in a while, the off heading was a bit more snappy. It never caused any malfuncton, but a few neck aches, no more. I love the control, the response, recovery arc, light riser pressure, harness sensitivity of my Ka107. The only thing, which I find to be considerable, is that I found it to be ungrateful: My last 100 jumps, I've been doing 450 on harness with a light whip of the front riser in the end. Everything goes well, but then when I start flaring on the back risers, then brakes and it feels like it's dying pretty quickly. The canopy has now about 800 jumps, and the lines about 400. Lines could be a factor. I loved this canopy, but I felt like I was doing everything right and it did not give me THAT much. Just did my fiorst jump with my new velo 103, so it's back to basics but I'm already in love. So anyway, not looking at my canopy on opening, staying very relaxed and not minding much about the swivel, I find the Katana to be fun to control, and an OK swooping canopy, in its class, no more. 4. I need the highest res possible pic of a spock. I am currently trying to work on logo right now, and I need the silhouette of a spock. All colours will be shaved off, flyers wont be recognizable. Anyone can help? All work And no skydive Makes Alexis A dull boy

  6. I get it, I get it.... Just sayin there is a difference between an accidental bad move, that in the end, did not kill anybody and a really stupid idea involving a tandem with a student in freefly. I just think we got so cranked up that now even the shoe/above drogue thing is blown out of proportion. Might just be me that is careless... All work And no skydive Makes Alexis A dull boy
  7. Let's just call it a clumsy cameraman sequence, but we now are far away from watching a tandem involving a student going in freefly. And the "vidiot" was pretty high above the tandem, way above the drogue. Still not a good place to be, but out of drogue range. This whole video takes a different turn when we know a little more about the participants. All work And no skydive Makes Alexis A dull boy
  8. Ok, now I have seen the videos. Even though I know the people in the sitfly one, and think the second one looks kinda cool, it still is pretty stupid to do it with student.... Did I say pretty stupid? I think I'm being soft because I know them Can't say I hate the music though. All work And no skydive Makes Alexis A dull boy
  9. Good point, DZ gear, but DZO was aware of the experiment to be. All work And no skydive Makes Alexis A dull boy
  10. Ok, I'm at work, I have not seen the vids(firewall...) but I think I know people in one of them. I absolutely agree with the fact that freeflying a tandem involving a student absolutely sucks! For reasons mentioned earlier, added risk, video sucks, customer can't know what he asks for when he says "extreme". BUT! What about experimenting with experienced skydivers. I know some of you may say that at that point, it becomes our damn problem, but let's get technical... I confess, someone I know tried it with a SIGMA rig, with a well briefed experienced jumper. Did HD from 14000 to 11000. Back on the belly, decelerated until 9500, poped the drogue, normal opening at 6000. Was actually a lot of fun! Wouldn't feel the need to repeat the experience thought, but TI was an experienced FF, and all went well. So, responsibility-wise, let's keep students outta those experimenting jumps, but otherwise, with an as up-to-date equipment as possible, is it that bad? I personally don't don't think so. I am a TI, and a Freeflyer and just like any other unusual thing you try in the sky, with good planing, it can actually be pretty fun! All work And no skydive Makes Alexis A dull boy
  11. Yeah, of course a good camera does not mean a good cameraman, but it's only that when I look at some of my shots, I regret not having a better image, because everything seems to be there for a "Crosswind moment". Anyway, I'm far from being at the level of putting a flat top pro and a huge HDV cam on my head, but I was just wandering if such a setup would actualy pay off... Thanks guys (Yeah, Crosswind IS awesome...) All work And no skydive Makes Alexis A dull boy

  13. In professional videos (i.e.: Crosswind) what makes the image so clear. Is it a matter of camera? Lens? Both? All work And no skydive Makes Alexis A dull boy
  14. The facilities are amazing. Big video room, big debrief rooms, big class rooms. Their student rigs are not very old, all freefly friendly and equiped with cypress. Their 2 Beech make it possible for big ways. The only downside is that you feel like the place is operated by buisiness men and not skydivers. Although being very nice and friendly, the owner kept trying to convince me that his place was better than my home DZ the whole time he was showing me the place. And don't think about staying late for a party beside the fire pit; when the sun goes down and no lucrative activities can take place, this place is dead. So if you're around and you want to skydive, it is definetly worth it, but don't expect to make true friends. p.s. by the way, they charged me 4$/jump to rent a jumpsuit, and they announced it to me after my two jumps...
  15. Hi! My lil' sister is pretty good for making clothing and she offered me to try to make me a freefly jumpsuit. My question is, is there a pattern for that? Can I buy it? Borrow it? Or is it better to just go the ol' trial and error way? Cheers El Flying Mohawk P.S. she's 15 and she's about to make her first tandem jump on may 1st... Can't wait to see her face in the plane....
