  1. I agree... that was a good lvl 2 aff. That girl was really heads up and had a good body position. I'd have passed her just for the smile she had the entire skydive!
  2. Actually I've jumped the radical from atair a few times .. from the guys that make the cobalt. Fun canopy!
  3. Hey Miami, I'll be glad to sell it.. Just let me know. Course I charge more for those rigs you have.. lol.. just joking. Give me a call. John
  4. I had a student do the exact same thing and ended up having to yank it out of his hand. His previous jumps were ripcord deployed and even though I drilled him untill I felt comfortable about letting go, he reverted to his previous training at deployment time. I've also seen students get their finger stuck in the handle.
  5. Ha Ha, how bout when your kids start base jumping with you? That's when it gets scary! And it's not like you can tell them no after they've watched/videoed you doing it either!
  6. I'm not goofing really. How do I know they have risers with a ring for the shackle? Or does that not matter? Can I pack a Jav with the rsl on but not having a place to hook the shackle? Seems like that defeats the whole purpose. John
  7. Okay, I get a rig in to repack the reserve but it doesn't have the main and main risers, just the container and reserve. Can I pack it since I obviously can't hook up the shackle to the main risers? Or do I have to have the main to hook up the shackle? Guess I better call Sunpath and ask them eh? John
  8. The device works like a charm. I just wish I had one when I chopped a brand new Caos with four jumps on it. It was a demo, brown and black, and it went deep in the woods. Never did find it. Precision was kind of upset about that one. I even rented a helicopter for half a day after I spent two days marking the woods with red tape so I knew where I'd allready searched... It was summer, 95 degrees, 90 percent humidity, swapy with mosquitos big enough to carry you off.. not to mention the ticks and chiggers.. anyone ever had chiggers?...not fun!
  9. I doesn't affect it at all. In fact the switch that activates the transmitter is a magnetic switch so it doesn't turn on untill it is seperated from the magnet.
  10. Two line overs on tandems, one drogue wrapped around half the lines on tandem, one toggle malfuntion on tandem, eight spinning mals on small canopies and I didn't pack any of them.. but I did pack all the reserves except one tandem. .. saves on buying the rigger a bottle.
  11. Does anyone know when RSLs on Javelins were just an option? I noticed in one post that said it was a few years ago that they stopped making it an option. Just thought I'd add another twist in this twisted mess.
  12. Did all Javelins come with RSLs ? I've seen some that didn't have the velcro on the riser, or the rings on the top reserve flap. Did all the ones set up for RSLs come with one? Even if the owner didn't want it? The Javelins that didn't come set up for RSLs aren't any different then the ones that came set up? How do you know which ones are which? John
  13. I know Adriano and have his number, I can call him if ya want and get him to call you back. John
  14. Trying to argue with someone that believes in the 45 degree rule is worse than argueing about politics or religion!
  15. Hey Vannek! I've a friend that saw people jumping off the New River Gorge Bridge and told himself that the next year he would be jumping from there. He started skydiving the week after.. and next year he did a two way off the bridge with me! It is an awesome goal. John
  16. I've taken both my wives on tandems......one was attached backwards
  17. I just had one of my most memorable tandem jumps this past weekend. A blind woman showed up and wanted to make a jump and I had the honor of taking her. She had such a great time! Jumps like that remind me what a great job i have! John
  18. More fun at Skydive Suffolk with Helicopter jumps Sunday, June 13th starting at 9:00 am. Check out our events page on our website, Skydive Suffolk John
  19. I see most of the people here that are complaining about how many cells there are don't jump cross braced. The onyx is an awesome canopy. I think Atair has a very, very good product here. Before ya go bashing them just try it. It's as easy as that! Then if ya still think it flys like a 9 cell you have something to back it up with, if not... zip it.. lol. John
  20. I believe Atair offers a 55sq ft onyx. I've jumped their 65. John
  21. Sounds like sour grapes here to me. But of course everyone has their own opinion. I'm sure mine stinks as much as yours.
  22. I'm not sure about the different versions but I think you are right. This is the version that they are marketing. I'll have to wait till I get more than five jumps on it to give a good review, hopefully this friday, but so far I am impressed. John
  23. Standard pro pack and I was belly to earth with no track. Of course standard is subjective.
  24. Got five jumps on a 75 this week. So far I love it. nice openings.. very on heading, lots of low end flare and very light front riser pressure. I was at an unfamiliar drop zone as well as 1800 feet higher than I'm used to so I didn't do any turn greater than a 180 on landing but got some nice swoops. It's easier to pack than my 79 icarus because the materials not as slick. Can't wait to jump it at my home DZ! It seems to dive very steeply but it only takes a small input to make it plane out. I think there are a few more out there so maybe they'll post on their experiences.
