  1. Hi Ankie. My handle look exactly like Hookitt's (the tape is like 2 inches long) and that's the way it came when manufactured. I love the handle and want to keep it. I haven't done any mods to make it shorter just being more aware of its position before exit. My rigger suggested me to shorten the tape but if I do that then when I place the stiffener inside the bottom flap is going to pull the PC like an inch out of the pouch or if I try putting the PC completely inside the pouch is going to pull the handle's stiffener out of the bottom flap a little bit and let it a little loose. Maybe a longer stiffener will solve that contradiction that way you can keep the PC fully inserted in the pouch and even if the stiffener comes out a little bit there will be a big piece of stiffener still inserted in the flap and that will stop it from coming out loose. Just my 0.02¢ of a design idea. Meantime I'll keep the length the way it is and be more aware. A question: In my case with the open corners with more separation from the pouch than in the regular corners option, a hackey handle (monkey fist) will still cover the distance between the pouch mouth and the bottom flap so it will cover and protect from the wind the piece of bridle that runs there? I'm not changing to hackey but just would like to know. Thanks for being so quick sending me the reserve handle. I was able to jump last weekend. An again I love the design and know that nothing is foolproof. You guys rock Alejandro B27585
  2. I think you are misunderstanding JohnMitchell's comment. He meant tape when he said lanyard. The tape that attaches the main deployment handle to the PC top. If you can not feel you hackey or soft pud just grab the tape and pull the PC out of the pouch. About the half barrel roll I explained before what I did and it was not technically a barrel roll. I have played with this position a lot when doing solo jumps, half rotation to the right and hold it and feel comfortable doing it. Alejandro B27585
  3. May be because you don't have the dinamic corners in your container. In my case it needs to be that long so when you place the handle stiffener in the bottom flap you don't pull the PC out of the pouch. When you don't have the dinamic corners the bottom flap edge seats closer to the BOC mouth so you don't need that long a tape. I did two jumps last weekend and no problem (firts time jumping after my reserve ride two weeks ago). This time I was more aware of the handle situation during the ride to altitude and before exit and had so much fun during the jump (track dive) that didn't even worry about the frigging handle. At pull time it was there. Alejandro B27585
  4. A throw out BOC is what I have and with the open corners, long bride and the whole nine yards. Alejandro B27585
  5. Is this the handle you speak of? Exactly like that one. Thanks for posting the pic hookitt Alejandro B27585
  6. Next time I won't waste time trying to get to the handle. i'll grab it at the lanyard. If I have something out and trailing - like PC in tow - I will chop before pulling the reserve because chances are great the my main will deploy as my reserve comes out. I know this topic is a big debate but I stick to this procedure. Altitude awareness at all times is the key. Taking 1 sec, if you have the altitude to spare it, to check what kind of situation you have on your back I think is not a bad idea. Barrel roll is the bad word here and I didn't do one. I already explained kelpdiver what I did to check over my shoulder without flipping on my back and I call it half barrel roll but isn't really one. My time to pull the reserve is 2000 and I sticked to it, that's what I did. Alejandro B27585
  7. I didn't say I did a barrel roll. I did half barrel roll (torso on an angle to be able to look better over my shoulders without flipping on my back and I can do that in 1 sec. with both my arms and hands in front of me and a little bit of knee help. It is like a side sliding move when bellyflying and I call it half barrel roll because your body is rotating on a horizontal axel a little bit but is not sinking, in any case you are side sliding. I wanted to make sure my PC was not trailing behind and I didn't have to cut away. 2500 is my decision alt and 2000 is my hard deck. At 2000 or below that I will not even try doing that. I will go straight like a bullet to silver. I was on the saddle by 1700 and a little long from the landing area because of my tracking direcion at brake off was upwind and i made it back even with my Tempo sinking more that moving forward. I think, and other jumpers at my DZ that witnessed the situation think so as well, that I did a good use of my time and EP. Alejandro B27585
  8. I wish I had a digital cam to post a pic of my handle design. I'll try to explain. The webing that joins the handle to the PC is about 2" long. That's the distance between the BOC mouth and the bottom flap where I tuck the hard side of the handle and that separation is due to the open corners of my container (for birdman deployment purposes). In my case when the handle came out it was floating and flapping on my burbble with all that webing stretch and I couldn't grab it even on a second try. May be if I tried a third time or just grab it by the webing I was going to be able to pull it out but I didn't what to risk it since I was going through my harddeck without a canopy. I guess that'll explain it a bit Alejandro B27585
  9. Thanks Nick for your feedback. The thing is that I cannot modify to hackey at this point because my rig has the open corners design (my future plans of skyflying) so if I install a monkey handle a piece of my briddle (the part that runs from BOC to bottom flap that now is covered by the soft pud when in place) won't be covered by the hackey. I know someone who has similar handle and had his rigger install a piece of velcro in the soft pud and inside the bottom flap and is working pretty good for him. Another solution I think could be to shorten the main closing loop so the flap closes tighter and that will hold better the soft pud. Alejandro B27585
  10. Had my first reserve ride before last weekend. After a normal 3 way RW we broke away at 4k, tracked and clear air, wave off and went to pull to find that my freefly pud was not there. Did a second try and nothing (I felt the BOC and the webing that joint the pud to the PC so the pud was trailing in my burbble and tried but couldn't grab it). I did a quick check at my alt and saw I was going through my decision alt 2,500 then a half barell roll to make sure nothing was trailing behind me, and pulled silver. The openiing was brisk but not painful (have a TEMPO170). I was seating on the saddle by 1,700, it flew straight and had a decent stand up landing. A friend of mine, followed my PC which landed about 800' down the runway. I lost my handle. This is my first mal and would like to share and know if someone have experienced this type of (I will call it total) mal. I heard lots of people saying the don't like the freestyle handle because they are afraid of not being able to find it if coming out of the bottom flap. Mine is a wings container and wings FF pud. blue ones Alejandro B27585
  11. Maybe use them as demos a wild guess Alejandro B27585
  12. OK. I already did and have the answer. They are brand new. They don't keep them on the shelf for more than 2 months from DOM. I went ahead and ordered a stock one-a Safire2. Thanks anyways and blue ones Alejandro B27585
  13. Are those stock canopies on the Icarus website, canopies that were returned by buyers and they might have some jumps already? I wonder since they have the 30 days return policy. The rule of thumbs is once the canopy is jumped the resale value goes down 25% plus $1 per each jump by if that is the case Icarus is resaling them with full brand new price anyways. Can someone advise? I'm planing on ordering one but would like to know. Will the serial# give you a guess of the DOM of the canopy? Thanks Alejandro B27585
  14. Thanks Chuck. I've been searching for awhile on the forums but there is not much info on it. I got some feedback from Matthew Cline who is currently jumping it but just wanted to get more info from people who had experienced the canopy. I'll post my feedback on the canopy after this weekend weather permiting Thanks Alejandro B27585
  15. Somebody with some info on the Rage from FCI? (not the German R.A.G.E) I'm testing a 170 this weekend (been jumping a Diablo 170 for a while) Thanks in advance for any feedback Alejandro B27585
  16. Arch, relax and enjoy the ride Have ton of fun and don't forget to get your video Blue ones Alejandro B27585
  17. This canopy is in the high perfomance catagory, so please if you have low numbers of hi-perf experience get coaching and take the FCI and PD advice, open high and learn the canopy before you add it to your vRW and RW jumps. Land strait in and learn its plane and flare points before you start adding speed generating manuevers to your landings. You'll have fun, I know I have. Matt How will the approching speed be comparing it to a Diablo 170 (if you have the experience with the Diablo to compare them.)?? Alejandro B27585
  18. You said "one piece top and bottom skin per cell". I don't understand what that means. is the nose closed? Alejandro B27585
  19. I've heard good things about the canopy and decided to demo a 170 next weekend and would like to get some feedback. My experience is on Sabre1 190, Sentry FCI 170 and Diablo 170 Alejandro B27585
  20. hey. is there someone out there jumping the Sentry from Flight Concepts International? I would like some feedback on this canopy before I purchase one. Thanks Alejandro B27585

    old sabre

Just wanted to know if there is still someone out here jumping an old Sabre. I just got my first rig (new wings) and an used Sabre 190 and Tempo 170 with no rides. I've heard a lot about brisky and painful openings but I haven't had one in the 20 jumps I have on it. Alejandro B27585
  23. Is your DZ increasing the jump prices because of fuel price increase? My DZ is charging $20 to 10K. That sucks. Let me know Blue and cheaper skies Alejandro B27585
  24. And DZ Mom's great cook is coming to the Boogie Alejandro B27585
  25. Just wanted to try what's to be in the sky on your own without the pressure of a task. It was not a straight down boring freefall anyways. I did some turns, kept my heading, backloop and got stable, getting to know how my body flies. Under canopy I experimented a bit with rear raiser 360 turns. It was not a waste of time at all. Thanks for the advice. Good idea always to have a plan Safe skies Alejandro B27585
