  1. Before going to the world meet the French 8way team did a special jump for pictures .I was taking the pictures and tried to go as vertical as possible because that was where the formation looked the nicest. Due to the shape of the formation ,the burble was bigger than I expected ...basicly 2 seconds after this picture was taken , the formation was no more... Packerboy, relax , it was maybe the first time, but probably not the last time you hit a formation...and for the people that never did : touch wood....and again..... wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  2. QuoteFor the money, you can't beat that Sigma 15. reply] maybe not for the money, but by adding 80 U$ to the price of the sigma 15mm(at B & h for example) you can get the Canon 15mm which is (i.m.o.) a better lens..... wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  3. that´s the one. wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  4. Last year I was at a boogie filming a formation and a friend of mine came along to film too. We had the same settings ,same camera (20D) ,he used a sigma 15 and I used the Canon 15. The results was that the pictures taken with the canon were much sharper. Not sure if he had a problem with this lens in particular but he sold it to get a canon 15mm. Attached is a picture (and a detailed part of it)taken with the 20D (basicly the same sensor as the xt) and a canon 15mm. I would spend the extra money, and get the canon.Remember that a good lens ,you can keep for many years ..(unlike the camerabodies). Also if in the future if you want to swich to a camera with a full frame sensor, you can use the 15mm with it , unlike the Canon EF-S 10-22mm which is specificly for the cameras with small sensors.(apart from being more expensive) Also the 15mm lens is really compact and not heavy .When used on a 20d,30d ,350d , you can tape a skylight filter to it to protect it.Not sure anymore about the diameter. www.brunobrokken.com wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  5. you can have a collar on or not... if you really have a hard opening with a heavy helmet,it will hurt you.. if you want to jump cameras and you are worried about neck injuries, get the right gear... a lot of canopies open soft ,most of the time. It´s the sudden hard opening that will hurt you. For camera jumps ,myself and other collegues like Gustavo Cabana, jump a Spectre with dacron (big) lines...seems to be doig the job ALL the time... www.brunobrokken.com wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  6. ok,here´s some pictures.... wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com

  9. any problems with your neck due to weight of camera? ever try the program PICASA 2 instead of photoshop I find cs2 photoshop to slow for on sight processing *** never heard of it ,will look it up in internet.thanks. www.brunobrokken.com wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com

  11. Here´s 2 pictures taken yesterday with the Canon 5D during the Empuriabrava Christmas boogie.I think the detail pictures give you a good idea about the resolution(considering they´re only a tiny part of the original picture). Both pictures were taken with a Canon 15mm lens . www.brunobrokken.com wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  12. 12.8mp for tandems? I don´t use it for tandems, just tried it on a tandem, not the same... (the 350D is more than good enough for that) Have a great 2006. www.brunobrokken.com wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  13. Here´s a few pictures taken today with the Canon 5D .The first one is a tandem exit ,the second one is a detail of this picture. And then there´s a canopy shot. the pictures were taken with a Canon 15mm lens. The 5D is really similar to the 20D but with 12.8 megapixel. The main difference is the full size image sensor. No more conversion factor with the lenses. It´s a little bit heavier and a little bit higher than the 20D (also there´s no onboard flash). I only have a few jumps with this camera but so far I´m really impressed. www.brunobrokken.com wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  14. Does the video on the linked page below of Hooknswoop screaming in under a VX-60 at 3.1:1 qualify?[ reply] no wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  15. I expect people to stand up almost every landing This is about standing up the landing stand up your landings, " and so on , and so on... This discussion is about the new world record distance swooping...This year ,I´ve been to quiet a few competitions, including 2 world cups, never saw anybody getting hurt on the distance runs(thanks to good sliding techniques...).I agree completly with Gary ´s comments:***Seeing pro swoopers doing a downwind controlled slide into land DOES set a good example to lesser experienced jumpers. It shows them that you can safely land downwind and dust your self off rather than making that too low turn into wind and killing yourself. I have seen more injuries with people trying to stand up than sliding in. *** Why don´t you start a new thread to promote you stand up techniques???Just don´t tell them you were jumping a VX-60 in your days... wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  16. ok,but what really impresses most of the people is Jay´s landing and not you trying to emulate Carl Lewis..(I mean on the 100meter dash, not on the long jump:he normally falls down then.....) wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  17. Why don´t you just go out and compete, hit the 5 foot gates in any wind condition ,including crosswind and downwind and then show us your stand up skills.... you are just confusing "cratering" with controlled slides...And for swooping accuracy, sometimes you have to pull up the canopy to stop covering distance, and the safest way to absorb the landing is not to try to stand up .. wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  18. ***lead, follow, or get the fuck out of the way. in this case, comments like that are of an jealous or even angered nature and has no purpose. i said the things i said because i have seen firsthand what each or these canopies can do. and it is bigger better and faster and goes farther. maybe JC will break the distance record with his jvx 118. i think it is on order. and why would JC want a jvx anyway? the velo is the best thing ever. if the fact that a parachute maker out there just built and released a better parachute doesnt excite you, then your a follower or your dead. daedalus, raises the bar in high performance, what do you think will happen next? think about it. there will be more innovation from the other factories to push and get an even better wing out there. Whatever....I just would like to congratulate Jay with his Performance.... wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  19. Dude, this sounds like you have been at the bar, raising something... what is it again that PD needs to do?? Give Jay more Velos so he can set more world records? I'm down with that - go PD Factory Team!!! Blue ones, Kolla you will see what a jvx can do when a pilot that has the time and EXPERIANCE gets under one. i beat the world record at 595 feet, my personal record 5 days earlier on all other brace canopies was 320 ft. the jvx is the most highest performing canopy on the market right now. im not sponsored in any way, and that is a fact that, that canopy will blow the velo, and the vx out of the water. the performance i had this weekend was WAY above and beyond my skill. all that changed this week was the altitude, and the canopy. kolla. you know me girl, i wouldnt lie to you. the jvx is BADASS! and it is going to go big. the bar is raised, im sure you will hear this from your factory pilots when they get home.. 'GAME ON BABY. what do you kall me kolla? KOCKY BASTARD!!!! and all you assholes out there that want to talk shit about my posting this and the way i worded it.. go fuck yourself, the bar is raised and P.D. now knows it. what happens now, is hopefully they get off there ass and produce something better. because they will have to when we get enough EXPERIANCE under this wing.. thats the game, and if you have been around long enough, you know it... p.d. cant wait to see how you raise the bar once again.
  20. i think the Canon 15mm is better... just a litlle sharper, especially when the subject is a bit further away.. wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  21. VERY interested, been watching them for a while... When exactly in Fall are they going to be available? Thanks *** not sure,L&B didn´t give the exact dates... wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  22. Larsen & Brusgard is coming out with a new line of altis. I´ve been trying a beta version of the optima for a few weeks.( http://www.l-and b.dk/optima.html). Especially the guide option is great.Like the Neptune ,you can select 3 beeps for your swoops.Between the 2nd and the 3rd beep, there´s a series of small beeps that go faster and faster the closer you get to your 3rd selected altitude, really handy to get to the right place at the right height without monitoring your alti.. They are also coming out with the viso. Both products will be released later in the year. Here you can find more information: http://www.l-and-b.dk/welcome.html Bruno wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  23. Here´s a few pictures taken during the Empuriabrava Swoop Challenge. One shows the PD factory team flying in formation with the Babylon boys. The other one is Jay swooping the course at the beach and the last one shows Ian Bobo (PD factory team ) playing around Richi Pym´s monsterflags. bruno wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  24. While this was a Open/Pro event and the caliber of competitors on the invite list was first-rate (at least to their country's standard), there were clearly some chows*** The participants were basicly the top 10 of the last world cup (except Tobias because he is from the host country),so I think the level was not too bad ,even to your country´s standard... wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
  25. QuoteI'm not disagreeing there... I'm personally for the hitting the gym method of getting better grips personally ,i think having that something on the rear risers so your hands have less chances to slip is a good idea.At the recent world cup of canopy piloting ,Shanon Pilsher (not exactly unexperienced or unfit...)had a big crash (luckily on the water ) 2 days before the competition because one hand slipped on the rear riser. On my rears i have little blocks (small enough to get the slider over it) that do the job perfectly. wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
