  1. Water and living ?
What about the guy who Cratered-In the Talus with a daisy chained streamer that one year when we were at Moab ? Was at least 350' jump. Went-In. In the dirt and lived and was walking on crutches 3 days latter. The Idiot looked like death warmed over when we all saw him.
Odds of that ever happening again are like a big fat, 0

  2. yuri base : ... " Unlike him, we follow Satan's words without hesitation ! "
    D goldsmith : ... " spiritual like a god, but I don't think that "god" has a conscience. "
    _____

Yes but chances are, Even God knows to at Least make a ' Conscience' effort to throw a Pilot chute without ' Hesitation' .

When I go-in BASE jumping and God lets me into Heaven. First thing I'm going to do is run over to Buda and ask him the age old philosophical question of.
If a BASE jumper Crates-In leaving body parts all over the Talus and No One is there to hear it. Does it make a sound ?

  3. ..." is perfect for lower objects that do not permit full out wingsuits."

' Lower objects that require a good moving Launch'. most likely means not that much Object Clearance or separation. Separation also goes hand-in-hand with how Fast you NEED to get your arms free in order to deal with off headings and other problems if they awry.
Both suits would serve ALL those purposes. Freedom of leg for running and arm movement for launch and openings.
but Like said in the above Post. I really doubt there are a hand full of people that have ever done enough with both on lower objects on a side by side testing. Also it is really depends on the tracking refinements of the BASE Jumper and how fast he can get into body position and grab the prevailing air from 3-4-5 seconds in the beginning after launch.

  4. Helmet Chin Strap ? ya know, Some people read this and just roll there eyes ...:S, like you are being anal over cautious. but,

No shit, On one Antenna load I was doing. I was down below just after landing and was shoving my shit into my stash-bag. I hear a body in FF and there canopy setup and open up from another jumper on the same load right after me.
Then suddenly and fast, I hear, SHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. (the sound) of something in freefall but weird sound.
Then a few yards away from where I am standing and stashing my gear. THWoooooooooooP, a Helmet smacks the ground.

  5. Even thought the Point jump did Larry in physically and mentally. He did not die untill several years latter. Lets not forget the DC-3 tail strike on his Ankles where on climb-out his PUD got pulled and the canopy deployed dragging him into it. Then the motorcycle spill he took also.
He didn't follow the easiest roads in life and didn't really have much in the end. He just lived to jump when he was doing it.

  6. The big waterfall you are talking about is Fed. parks service when the other jumps in the Gorge area are Oregon & Washington State parks. There IS a ranger station at the bottom and you 'Will fly over the top', on your flight out to the LZ. The only day I think that fucker is not there is Christmas and New Years day. It also stands next to a Major Hwy. traffic corridor. There are people there viewing and walking up and down to that Falls from the very first light of day till dark, 365 days a year none stop. Very busy place.
The Falls is set-back into a Large Bowl area. There are No Outs right around the bottom areas of the Falls and some bad sketchy ones on your way out. The Falls also Depending on how much it has been raining blows a LOT of water off. With a LOT of Tail-Push, but still DON'T get a 180 there.

Larry March was one of my first SL progression JM's That I had when I first started to skydive out in Sheridan Skydive.
Larry did the big falls more than once. He actually fucked himself up permanently doing the, Point that is near by.
The first person to jump it after Larry march, was Josh McVay. Josh did it solo with his brother as ground crew. Josh also was the first to SL the smaller waterfall down the way and he did that 'Solo' Also. He reconed both 'by himself' , which is pretty ballsey and work out his own exit points also. Josh also went-in at the Point which also he lived near by on his 300th jump, Solo.
for sure the big falls has been jumped by. Larry, Josh, Slim, Dwain, Dr.Nick, DJ, maybe Raislin & Zaz (not sure) and some have jumped it more than once also.
ALSO. not sure maybe " Steve Muholland " might have jumped it also, 'maybe'. To find out if Steve jumped it you need to call. Steve Cooper who is a retired BASE jumper here
I am also Sure there have Only been a couple others who have jumped it passing threw the area. The thing is HIGH Profile if you get caught but can be done if your are very careful and not greedy.
    .
EDITED TO ADD: SPENCE, jumped it too.

  7. Tandem paraglide canopy ? 745
    .
Headings and pressurization together at 4-7 seconds delay ? To many variables to pin point actual variance in pressurization delays and heading.
All is way influenced by conditions for a constant measurement of heading and pressurization for a factual answer to the question.
4-7 seconds slider-up. What are we talking about ? 850 to 1200 feet ? depending on the person exiting and the experience level ? Plus, 4's to 7's is in the ' La La land ' between No-Slider and that sweet terminal tracking. Jumping the La La land zone is large even though it's only 4 seconds difference of delay speed.
I have a huge amount of openings slider-up from 4's -5's. 4's to 7's, is notorious for that snivel that will sneak up on you when you least expect it. Also I have been spanked on some opening from time to time on that scale of delay when it was the exact packjob from the last.
4-7 seconds are affected much by variations in wind conditions, packjobs and the 4-7 second delay time itself. 4-7 sec. slider-up is a huge margins of inconsistencies of speed and mechanics plus the human factor when all put together.

  8. No fucking shit. This whole worthless Thread was made justifiable only for that, 2 Pac, lip-sync bastardization of Barney, link.
I now can say without hanging my head with shame. " I did click on this thread and read."

  9. Was the cause natural/accidental/skydive or BASE related ?
If BASE, that is so F'd-up I am really getting sick of this shit. The guy was always good to me.

  10. The only way I know to get around motion sensors is to get above them. (i might be wrong) I think that most sensors put out an IR beam also. There is a limit to the distance the IR will pick up a reflection to report back to the sensor. Also Sensors are limited by direction and distance and are mostly used for security of close quarters.
I am not sure of the direction pointed or position of the sensors you are talking about ?
but, For Example: If you have an object such as a building or object near that you can get on top of. Then cross over to the Antenna above the sensors you will not set them off.
I have done this before just about like that. We got on top of the building next to the Antenna. Then went across on some electrical conduit pipe to the trap door above the base of the antenna. The sensors were pointed for movement for access at the base about 15-20 feet below the trap door and ladder. So we did not set them off.
There is another good way to asses your situation is to this that does work well. Set off the sensors inside the fenced compound and Leave then just lay back and make surveillance of just what are the repercussions of the action. Security response ? Alarm ? also you need to look carefully around the area of the sensors for any 'New' camera's that might be activated by sensors and placed there the same time as the new motion sensors.

  11. Ya, and I'm a 'Radical' Dude with a radical attitude with a radical hair style that is living and radical life style. Is being Radical better or worse than being 'Extreme ?
I think the Radical low altitude turns in BASE that leroydb id talking about a learned technique in,Controlled Flat Turn using deep brakes.
Radical turns in skydive and BASE are not that Radical when done right. They might Look Radical but if they are taught and practiced in a correct and controlled manner. The turns are GTG and proper canopy skill.
Skydiving and BASE both do share/have. the 'Radical' toggle Stab. The 'Radical' stall and pound-in. the 'Radical' rear-riser ass-skid. and last but not least. the 'Radical' 180 low-hook turn. Sharing the same ill-prepared canopy techniques in two different canopy environments and disciplines.
The way I hear it is. 'Radical', Skydivers and BASE jumpers Ass's will occupy and fit into the same hospital bed and wheel chair.

  12. Man I remember some years back in Twin. There was a Twin area local who BASE jumped without skydiving and also pretty much refused to even go over the DZ the other side of Boise and do FJC and Static course. His name was Jack (something) can't remember last name. We told him many times it would be smart to do some static's for canopy practice but he never went and did any skydiving.
BASE jumping he only did Rounds in the water. I think he thought that was safer for him. I lent him a old square cruzlite for a day once to do some water landings and see what squares were like. Sometime later It was his 100th jump and he was hungry to get it off. The winds were nuking. He took his Round and went anyway and drifted in over land and just pounded-in. He got all busted and broke-up bad. I think that was his only landing on hard ground. I really doubt if he even new what a PLF was.

  13. ..." I took 10 inches of the mojo and about the same off my troll...when they are on "full drive" they are on full drive and both flare well ."
    -

OK for all. One point to make to all who are getting out the Scissors and hacking Break-Lines and shorten to accommodate short arms or a spongy feeling flair. Your BASE canopy is performing a duel purpose role.
Never forget that even though you are Not changing your Break-Settings by altering the break-line length below the Break-setting Eyelets.Don't Forget to take in the fact that you will be jumping that same canopy with a Slider-up also. You can go to far on the shortening.
Take note that Too short OAL (over all length) can affect the way your Tail will be shaped in'full flight' on 'Slider-up'. You (need some) B-line Slack when you let the Toggles go up and stop on the riser rings. A different total overall working length is needed for No-slider & Slider-up configurations.

  14. How does that have anything to do with telling him to stop BASE jumping tell he learns to fly a Canopy ?
From what I read all that katzurke asked was:
..."By how much, if at all, have you shortened your canopy's steering lines? "

then he asks goldsmith if he feels much flair from 1-inch change in his break lengths.

then say's ..." took 4 inches off mine (RD 303), and I am amazed with the flare power I actually developed."

  15. I am not sure that Terminal BASE might have more technical info to know compared to No-slider. It just might be that things just happen at a much greater speed.
Speed and a Slider are only two more things though but those two things.
(Speed) - Low-pulls and or PC fumbles & low pulls sneek up on you faster when you are moving faster.
(Slider ) - Mals. like inconsistent opening speeds of Snivels and Line-twists.

PLUS. . The 'Simple' fact is, 'Big delays' just means you have much more time to Fuck yourself-up or to screw up royal .
Your under less/relaxed pressure to get the PC out on Big delay slider. On low no-slider your pulling the PC within 3-sec. on the average.
