  1. Thanks so much, this is just the sort of info I was after, you're a star
  2. I've just bought a GX200 to lighten the load on my head when taking tandem shots, can anyone recommend what settings to use? I'm a complete novice when it comes to camera set up. With my old camera I'd just look helpless and hand it to someone else , but noone at my dz has the GX200...
  3. As host to the British Nationals for several years (and more to come!), with high altitude, fast planes (dorniers and SMG92) and a super efficient manifest, Hib has prided itself on attracting some of the top jumpers in the UK to the DZ. Now I am biased admittedly, i started at Hib 9yrs ago and I am proud to have it as my home dz (despite there being 2 much closer to my home, it is alway worth the trip). I have travelled and jumped all over the world though, and visited many dropzones in the UK too and I still think Hib's ability to get loads in the air is second to none. With regular events targetting safety, progression, 4 way, big ways, freefly and VFS there is something for everyone no matter what level you are at or what aspect of the sport you wish to partake in. The staff and instructors are friendly and experienced and the social side is catered for too, with a games room and many a party night had in the bar on site. Free camping and showers and a bunk house just add to the convenience, as well as a canteen that will often serve well into the evening if there is an event on. This year they have also introduced 4 skysaver weeks when jump tickets are just £16 to 15k! What more could you ask for? :-)
  4. Hey there, having read the first page of posts (and to be honest I couldn't be bothered reading the middle 3, so I apologise if I'm reiterating other people) I just wanted to give you my vote of support. I've got over 1000 jumps. My landings were a bit hit and miss until I had a bad landing tearing all the ligaments in my ankle 3yrs ago and then my landings totally bombed. I was so scared of hurting myself again that I didn't even attempt to take one step on landing. It sounds to me like you are doing everything right to correct the problem, getting the training, flying a sensible canopy etc. and you've figured where the real problem lies - in your head! I did a couple of canopy courses but the three things that really made a difference to me were 1. practicing my flare twice after opening on EVERY jump, so I got a feel of exactly how the full flare feels. I was starting my flare too late and rushing it, now I take my time with it yippee I land on my feet, (but that was just my problem.) I still practice my flares now. 2. strapping my ankles up so I'm confident they won't get hurt (just so the fear doesn't distract me) and 3. telling myself I could do it (although looking ahead and not straight down also helped). Maybe some mental coaching so you believe you can do it will help too? Believe in yourself and practice with the coaching you've got planned (and keep practicing what you learn from then on) and in a few more jumps you'll be wondering what the fuss was about and enjoying every jump you do. Good luck!
  5. Hey Betsy, Just been looking on the FAI site and it appears the artistic event may have moved to Brasilia. Do you know anything about this? They have a website : www.wpc2004.com.br but it just seems to be a frontpage at this stage. Any info anyone can give me would be great, I'm hoping to get out there, should be fab
  6. I'm on that load too Perky, plus my mate Blair! fancy trying a BASE exit (if we're allowed)?
  7. Hey, can you add me and my mate Blair to the list for doing Balloon jumps please, 30th am if possible? Thank you
  8. Yeah I know, I talked to Cedric and Matt just last week as they are making suits for my s/o's team at the moment and gave a lead time of 3 weeks for them too. The quality of the fabric and the make is outstanding too, I can't argue that and Emanuelle looks stunning in hers too! Problem is, I really wanted a 3-piece suit, freefly jacket, camera jacket and freefly pants, preferably in supplex fabric too and the firefly suits were heartily recommended by other DZ.commers. I can't access the matter site from my pc either for some reason, it just freezes up. What, if any is the difference from their original freefly suit and their proconcept suit?
  9. Not sure if this is the right forum but... After posting the question a couple of months back as to which freefly suit would be the best for someone of a smaller build, I finally got round to placing an order for a firefly suit. I placed the order via fax because I've been getting no response to my emails (in over 3 weeks), but I've not had any confirmation that my order has been received (by phone, fax or email) and whenever I try calling I get the answerphone. I'm calling from the UK so am limited by time (difference) and cost trying to get in touch. Does anyone know if they are having any problems, or should I just be patient and hope the order is being processed? Really wanted to get it in time for the Christmas Boogie (getting it delivered to Eloy in expectation!) One month til I fly out, yeehaw!
  10. Do you know if there will be any AD license examiners/instructors at the boogie or just before or after? Not for me as I'm a freefly newbie but I've a couple of friends who are thinking of coming over and are keen to qualify. This might just tip the balance (like cheap jumptickets and free beer shouldn't )
  11. I'm just starting out in freeflying, so I'm sure this will improve with experience, but the moment as a light weight girlie I'm really struggling to maintain my fallrate along with the fellas i.e they are in sit while I'm in stand just to keep up! I'm working on my body position and I've got quite a slimfitting suit from original lizard, but can anyone perhaps recommend somewhere that might make a faster suit? At the moment I spend so much of my dive just trying to get to people that I'm not getting any chance to work on anything else, much less enjoy myself! Thanks!
