Smoking pot is not, and if it were my property, I would make it damn clear it wasn't allowed. You smoke on my prop, you get grounded for some amout of time. If it happens again.... See ya! don't come back!

  4. HERE HERE !!!!

It is a sad state of affairs in the US when people's stupididy gives them the right to sue.

Example: Two years ago a 16yr kid decided to go play on the Raised train tracks of the Long Island railroad (an electric train) The tracks are surrounded by fences at all places. Signs telling everyone to avoid the tracks they are electric ETC...

So, the kid found a hole in the fence, tripped, and sure enough died from electricution(sp?). Guess what, the parents sued the state and won.

Why???? Because their Highschool son is too much of a fucking idiot to know better, and they deserve $$$ for their loss.

I CALL IT DARWINISM ... Stupid people eliminate themselves.

It is just a sad sad world.

  5. Tarry town is only 25 miles from NYC. Which makes it only 40 miles from the RANCH. I haven't been to sky's the limit, but I have been to the ranch. If your looking for fun, and 3 otters running non stop on weekends... The ranch is the place to be!!!!

PS- If you have time, head out to Skydive Long Island. It may be a far drive for you though.

  6. That also means AT LEAST Twice the bitching and moaning, and twice the spending of your money.

    Think about this:
Women who spend a great deal of time together tend to sync up their menstral cycles. Can you imagine having 5 or 6 women in the house with PMS all at the same time???

I think I would FUCKING kill myself!

  7. OK, what is the fed rate for a single person making over 100K? Now, let's say they get married, and the wife makes 40K. What is the rate for Household income of 140K?

    Here it is!!!!
Single making 100K your taxes would be:
    14625 + 30% (difference over 67,700)
    14625 + (.3 x 32300)
    =24,3100
    =24.31% Tax

Married jointly filing. using example above. with 140K combined income.
    tax is:
    24,265 + 30% Diff over 112,850
    24,265 + (.3 x 27,150)
    24,265 + (8145)
    32,410
    = 23.25%

Percentage wise it seems to check out

  8. Although, with the new "Child credit" it could get expensive for Uncle Sam. Since this is a $400 CREDIT (i think 400) NOT deduction. So, theoretically you could net more than you gross!!

  9. I hear what you are saying, but the law doesn't give people the "Right" to get married. According to the law a resposible marriage is for the "Good Welfare of the people" It could easily be interpreted that not everyone has the right to get married, and people could be denigned marriage if it were not "good for the people".

  10. Here is the issue with what you just said.

Gay marriage is an alternative lifestyle to "the norm". Good or bad however you want to look at it. If nationally the law was changed, and it allowed gay marriage, IMO there it would open the flood gates for other "Alternative lifestyles.

Polygamist would want laws against them to change ETC... Next thing you know people like CLAY will want the right to marry a SHEEP!!!!;)

I have no problem with Gays living together.
I have no problem with polygamist so long as they are not "Married" (Live together/date have fun)
I have no problem with Clay living with sheep.

However, when it becomes a legal issue it gets very complicated.

What happens in a polygamist divorce??? What if 3 wives want to divorce some guy. What are their entitlements??? It gets way to HAIRY. What if there are children involved and many wives. Who gets the kids??? Picture that in court ... ahhhh

  11. Polygammy is illeagal in the US for several reasons. But In my opinion the reason for this was family stability. There are several issues with polygammy such as the number of children which can be born in one year to the same family. This can cause a crisis in the welfare of not only the children, but the parents as well. Now, If you choose to have 7 wives and 28 kids, and you are someone making only $40K a year, why should I have to pay for the welfare of your children?????

The laws on marriage give some people the privlidge of getting married in the US, but not the RIGHT. Do I think it is unfair that there is a tax break???? Maybe, but that is what the government felt was the reward for raising a family in a "reletively" stable environment.

Do I think the government should be arresting polygamists??? Yes and NO.

If they are minding there own business no. If they are getting handouts from the government for welfare, or if the children are suffering because of lack of food or health care, YES.

  12. Some of you may have seen the article in Skydiving Mag "What is the craziest thing you have seen a Jump pilot do". I figured the magazine is constrained by space, so I wanted to continue it here. So, What have you seen?

  13. That clears up the confusion. They said Raven II which is 218 sq/ft. I looked online cuz my friend thought it was smaller, but all i found was a dash M series being 218. I need more info before I have this shipped to my rigger.

  14. Taken from the PD educational section:

    ____________________________________________-
Unfortunately, this isn’t going to be true. As canopy designer John LeBlanc explains in his
seminar on wing loading, different size canopies will not fly the same when flown at the same
wing loading, even if they are the exact same type of canopy. One reason is that both canopies
will be flying through the same air. Sue may be 30% lighter than Marco, and her canopy 30%
smaller, but the air molecules she flies through will not be 30% smaller or closer together.

  15. I am a low timer, but I will give my opinion.

AS you can see, many experienced people here have said to err on the side of caution, and I agree. The difference is this: As a student, I was jumping a 280 then a 220. Other people, (your size) were doing the same. They downsize quicker, because truthfully a 220 on someone who is 115 is dangerous. If there are gusty winds etc... you could end up going cross country.

However, and I think some people forget this a 1:1 wing loding under a 190 IS NOT equal to a 1:1 wingloading under a 120 The PD website will tell you the same.

You are a lot more likely to end up hurt at a 1:1 under a 120 than I am at a 1:1 under a 190.

Why the difference??? I don't quite know if I can explain the physics of it, but it is true. Listen to what the others tell you, listen to what the instructors tell you. Give it a lot of thought, and do what you think is right. No one here can tell you what to do, but my guess is that you are scared for a reason.

  17. Well, the Raven 2 would be lightly loaded if i did have to go to it. It is the set up this rig has. With the 190 main, I would probably be loading about 1:1 full clothed and equiped. So, with the Raven2 I would be less than 1:1. Thanks for the advice.
