  1. Hi All, I was shooting the video on this one, actually my 2nd ever video jump ..The jump run was N to S, this much i can see after watching the whole thing again. Not much to add, after we split, i tracked West and if Chris says he went N i beleve that .. Can it be that good exit separation and tracking the right way only covers you for opening in the clear and first few seconds under canopy ? After half a minute or more of flying, especially with a spinning mal at the end, that distance can be reduced fast, and there's not much that can be done to prepare .. As for me i dont think i could force myself to cut away in the amount ot time left before a possible collision - but it sure was SCARY to watch ..
  2. Anybody going there too or lives there and wants to get together ? I was looking into maybe making a jump or 2 while there but it doesn't look easy without local connections. So i guess its cofeeshops and RLD for me :) Any other suggestions ?
  3. Well, my day at work sucked since i had an overnight flight from a hawaii vacation and then went straight to work... After that i went to see my gf and she told me that she didn't love me and broke up with me while i actually was seriously thinking of proposing to her on her b-day next week . I think i HATE V-day and sincerely hope that everybody had a much better day.
  4. Oh well i guess i shouldn't have posted where i jump :) .. Now there's nothing left to do but wait for it and hope i can at least take a bite before it all falls down
  5. Gotta be carefull walking around corners for the next few weekends as yesterday was my # 100 jump in Hollister, CA ! Somebody suggested wearing a footbal helmet but i think thats a little too much :) Beer and non - alc beverages were put in the fridge after the jump !
  6. Does being divorced count ? Probably gonna stay single with the odds of being taken to the cleaners 10 -15 years later so high ... I mean i wouldn't skydive with odds like these and being ruined by a golddigger after staying married for 10+ years is as bad or worse to me as going in at 120mph ... With my ability to understand women --> 0, its probably better to stay single
  7. I wanted to see what's it like to jump out of an airplane for a long time, so in the spring of 2003 after going through a divorce i thought it was time .. Did 2 tandems in 2 weeks and decided i wanted to learn this .. It did take me 15 jumps to finish AFF, but i am SO glad i did :)
  8. Thanks to everyone who replied and encouraged me ! I went back this sat to see what i can do and also to hangout, watch ppl land etc. Was told that i would need to retake the 1st jump course and then do a lvl 4 or 5, depending on the instructor's feelings .. So no problem, i come back early on sun, Adam talks to me a little about my experience 2 yrs ago, how much i remember, then looks through my logbook. Then he tells me he thinks i don't need to sit through the class and do an AFF level, just a review and a coach jump ! I was both happy and scared at the same time Half an hour later, Mike ( another AFF instructor ) gives me a really good review, manages to get rid of like 90% of my fears and soon we were on our way to 15k in KingAir ! The jump went really great, i felt like i never left and Mike was pretty happy with how i did, so he cleared me to solo ! Did another jump by myself later on and it feels so GREAT to be back ! Thanks again eveyone for helping me to come back !
  9. I'll try to be there either sat or sun and will see what i need to do & when they can have me come in for a class ..
  10. Nah, i only took green stuff when i was there :) My last jump was at the end of june 2004, and was jumping a 210 ft x2 spectre most of the time, after a transition from a ripcord student rig. I started with a 7 level AFF program, and it took me 15 jumps to finish. After that i did 30 jumps, mostly solo but a few 2-way attempts. So counting the AFF jumps, a total of 45 ... Did 2 tandems before that to convince myself to pay for AFF, but i don't want to count those since i was just a passenger, even if a very scared one :)
  11. The Blue Pill ?? I'm not sure what that is .. When i was in Amsterdam with friends last year, they bought some blue pills, but that's not really my thing Hopefully i can get back in, but if not, even a tandem should quiet the bug down for a while.
  12. I don't have a yellow card, just my 2 logbooks with 15 AFF and 30 solo or 2 way jumps, signed by different ppl at the DZ. I may drive down there this sat or sun just to see you see you guys jump and land .. If i have to do to AFF from scratch, i might just do a tandem, simply because the bug is biting me kinda hard :)
  13. Hi All, Its been almost 2 years since my last jump ( june 2004) and even though i wanted to come back off and on during that i just never did I guess starting to ride a bike was enough for a while. But i guess can't completly forget what it feels like to stand in the door of KingAir at 15k and be ready to go .... So the question is, with my 45 jumps and no A lic, what would it take for me to come back ? I'm not sure if i can survive AFF again from lvl 1 ... It took me 15 jumps to go through it the first time around. Am i just nuts to think of doing it again if for some reason i stopped for the whole 2 years ?? Anyone from Hollister ( Adventure Center Skydiving ) still remember me by any chance ? Thanks ! -Dmitri
  14. Hello, I have 45 jumps but no license and stopped jumping last June :( Now i really want to start again, but if it means taking AFF all over again, then i don't think i can do it. Does anyone know what re-training i'd have to do ? I was jumping alone or with 1-2 people, using a 210 main with throwout .. Does it mean i have to go back to student 288 with a ripcord ? :( The dropzone was and would be Adventre Skydiving in Hollister, CA. Thanks !
