I'm from SC (no, not speakers corner) and here after Hugo whipped our butts they instituted a policy of having the beach evacuatED (that is already done) at LEAST 24 hours in advance. They made the evacuation of a city of 1.6 MILLION people at 2 PM the day the storm was supposed to hit around 1 AM. That's 11 hours to evacuate not only Nola but all the surrounding coastal populations on a road infrastructure not designed to handle that kind of loading. There is a great deal of blame to be laid on the Governer of Louisiana, the Mayor of New Orleans and the director of FEMA. Some of the people that stayed I'm sure had the capacity to leave but alot of the others did not. Virginia has an awesome system. They have all the school buses lined up 24 hours before the storm, they have lists of people who are unable to evacuate on their own, and the police go around with magic markers to the people's houses who won't leave and make them write their social security numbers on their forearms, so it will be easier to identify their bodies.

I'm taking a real estate course this fall. It's a few weeks and you'll save enough money when you sell your house to buy a car! OC that depends on how much your house is worth, but whatever. Once you get Broker status you get that whole percentage, the agent only gets like 3 percent.

Very true, China and India in particular have seen extraordinary growth in their demand for petroleum products and it is only going to grow more. However I believe right now the US is still the #1 consumer in the world of crude oil, largely due to our love affair with giant gas gussling vehicles.

The damned Coleman ones aren't any better. I've used two, same problems. I even searched it for little holes and taped and sealed two suspected ones and it wasn't much better.

Sometimes on the way home from work, when I'm bored, I make a tally count of the SUV's I see and how many passengers each one has. Usually about 75% have ONE person (the driver) inside.

Gas is up from 2.52 before the Hurricane to 2.70/80 the day after to 3.20 today. There were also lines at gas stations near my house that were still selling it for 2.80. Things are about to get interesting folks.

Yet another reason i love my SDC. They don't charge super high boogie fees to pay for beer or fancy food. With their boogie fees you get discounted jumps, usually some neat thing (most recently an awesome skydiving calendar), load organizing, sometimes coaching, and of course to help pay ferry fees for specialty aircraft.

If you want food or beer, you supply it yourself. Or you can buy it there. I much prefer paying a lower boogie fee, than being ripped off for food and beer i don't use.

I'm with Sunny on the BYOB and food. Everyone likes different beer or liquor and if people want they can pool and get a keg. Use the money for discounted jumps, planes ferrying fees and some premier load organizers or something.
