  1. I had to post this picture. It's hard to really see how big it is untill you see it like this. _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  2. Has anyone tried to sidemount a Sony HC3/5/7? If you have, what box did you use? _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  3. I want to go for more compression. Aperture would be wide open (really small number) allowing more light in. You’d actually be able to use a much faster shutter speed and lower ISO. _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  4. I want to try for some unique shots with a really small depth of field (kicking the background out of focus) and make the ground look really close. Does anyone here have any experience using a telephoto lens in freefall? _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031

It would work for someone like me. I don’t log on to DZ.com on a regular basis, although I’m frequently looking at the forums. _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  6. I’m trying to find the best way to store digital photos. I know that CDs can degrade and lose the information stored on them, but can a hard drive degrade too? I’ve been told that buying the expensive CDs is better, but are they really worth it? I’ve heard of some CDs losing data in as little as 18 months. That’s pretty scary. I was thinking that an external hard drive would work. If it was only hooked up to the computer for a limited time to back-up the pictures and then placed on the shelf, how long would a hard drive hold that data? I’m basically looking for the easiest and longest lasting solution to save my pictures. Things I’ve considered: Burning CDs, External Hard Drive, Printing most goods ones, Tape back-up. What do you guys think? _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  7. I don’t call it blacking out. I like to call it time traveling. _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  8. I guess I'll have to take you out for beers when I get home this weekend. _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  9. Sorry, I wasn't real clear in what I was asking. I was thinking along the line of slag and dis-coloring the suit. I'm trying to not wreck the suit. _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  10. I got another one for you. Would the size of the wing make a difference? Would it be better to jump a WS with a smaller wing like a Gti vs. a S3? Would the burble created by the big wing affect it different than a smaller wing? _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  11. Kevin, do you have any pictures of you wearing the Jim Wallace bracket with your suit on? I'm trying to get an idea of how it fits on the WS. I'm trying to build something that can go on over the WS so I can do a quick release if needed. Also, I cant seem to find a link to the smoke bracket at Jim Wallace web site. _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  12. Would the pin issue you discussed in point one be the only reason for moving the canister? Would moving them to the side be better for avoiding smoking/slaging up the suit? I was thinking about adding some sort of extension like the Leap Frogs do when they jump drop flags. They put soda cans on the smoke to catch the slag. If there was an extension how much do you think it would mess with flying the suit? _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
  13. Here is what I'm working with for a smoke bracket. These are designed and used for regular free fall. It uses hot smoke, so keeping the hot slag off the leg wing is important. I also have to put the suit over the buckles and straps since it would not fit over the bootie. I was thinking of moving the canister to the outside on the left foot (the shiny side in picture 3 and 5) I haven't tried this with a WS yet. I would like to know if you guy think it'll work. _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031

  15. Found another fun list. http://money.cnn.com/2003/10/13/pf/dangerousjobs/index.htm Maybe pilots aren't over paid after all. _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
