  1. My home DZ regularly takes the AN-2 to 3500m. We load 10 jumpers, but only 6 get to go all the way up. Works better in early spring / late autumn than in summer. I wouldn't say it's economical though, it takes about 25 minutes You're the driver, not a passenger in life.
  2. Hi! Just received two suits and a helmet from frexer. Mr. Butt was certainly a bit agressive on the email front . I ordered one "charlatan" freefly suit, one "freefall" rw suit and one "neophyte" helmet. Delivery to Sweden was ~3 weeks from order. I ordered standard XXL sizes as their sizing chart indicated I should fit i that. The suits seem to be of good quality build, but they are obviously not made by skydivers. The freefly suit fits fine, although it seems to be a bit baggy. The ankle "muffs" are just elastic so I suspect it will travel up my legs in headup flying. The rw suit is practically useless for me. I suspect that if I'd have sent them some exact measurements they would have made a good fit for me. As it is the torso is too short, the ass too wide and the booties don't really give me any warm fuzzy feelings. Also the grippers are a bit too small for my taste. I'll donate this one to our tandem operation, it might fit some passengers well enough, and it's cool looking enough. The helmet is a plain ripoff of the Factory diver helmet from Sky Systems. The quality of build and finish is nowhere near that of the original, but it is comfortable. I've yet to try and fit my prodytter in it, but it seems like a very tight fit. 3. Mañana. Just came home from three weeks of sweet bliss. I stayed in the new bunkhouse, clean and cheap(6$/night)with good beds. Be warned though, the locals had a tendency of turning the a/c down to 16°C at night, that will give you the sniffles. The AN-28 is a bit noisy but very fast. Jumping was good, but its not really the place to go if you want to do 100 jumps a week yet. Actually one of the biggest problems was lazy jumpers! I'd wake up at 7:30, look at the clear skies and still not be jumping until 9-10 because everyone was busy lounging around having breakfast in their luxury hotels. Also, people had a hard time showing up in the loading area on boarding call. Load organizing was a bit messy, consisting mostly of stuffing wingsuiters and solos in first. Also I'd recommend getting a floatation device. I was exiting above the sea more often than not. I did a few coach jumps and was treated real well. I learned lots! Jumping over Isla la Tortuga was just breathtaking! The town of Higuerote is nothing special really, most people where very friendly and there was decent food to be found almost everywhere. The shops all carry the same chinese copies and of course there's a liqorstore every 20 meters. I found plenty of internetcafe´s, they all had decent connections and the prices were next to nothing. Now I'm going to get some spanish lessons. See u guys next year!
  4. I've arrived! The weather is really good so far, the place is really nice. English only works at the dropzone it seems, so i'm quite handicapped in town. They are a bit slow in the mornings, as things dont really pick up until the large group of French show up from their hotel. /Storhemulen You're the driver, not a passenger in life.
  5. I'll see you sunday then! You're the driver, not a passenger in life.
  6. I think they meant one way 120$. I've been thinking about the possibility of taking a boat trip instead, just hire a local fisherman or something. Could actually be quite nice! You're the driver, not a passenger in life.
  7. Good news: I've gotten a reply from the dropzone, they'll be sending someone to pick me up. Bad news: It's going to set me back 120$ and take ~5hours. I guess I'll just hope for the best and consider the ride a different kind of sightseeing :) Also I'm a bit worried about robbery, apparently there's alot of hijackers along the old highway. Since I'm a typical fat white guy, I'll probably be considered prime bait. You're the driver, not a passenger in life.
  8. Havent gotten any replies either. I'm going there jan 29th to feb 18. I figured that the worst case scenario involves me not jumping and drinking a lot of rumdrinks... I'll see you guys there! You're the driver, not a passenger in life.
  9. I am! I'll probably be there 10-30th. I don't know anything about the place though, never been there before. btw. does anyone know if the tunnel thats visible in some of the pictures is operating? You're the driver, not a passenger in life.
  10. Sadly these kits are junk! Only works if you live in a bunker and haven't seen the sun in six months, their claims are mostly bogus. I've got a friend who built one, it turned out big, heavy and useless. To get somewhat useful brightness he had to take the tv to a repairshop where they turned up the brightness somehow. If you do want to build your own projector, check out the forums at http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=12 or the quite successful spawn off those forums www.lumenlab.com Be advised, it will still end up quite large, timeconsuming and expensive. 11. Come on over to Sweden for a weekend of jumping. Ryanair are cheap as @#$% to Skavsta. We have a small friendly DZ, slow AN-2 and bunkhouse and sauna available. Call Kim +46-73-634 35 60 or email [email protected] Prices are from ~190euro excl. video I think. video is another ~80euro Jump tickets are ~16 euro Bring a sleeping bag and some beer! 12. How about differences in body position? I don't feel much diving from 5m cliffs, but going feet first definitely feels! You're the driver, not a passenger in life.
  13. Apparently theres someone selling russian suits here in Sweden. A couple of guys from my dz saw one and said it looked great. Thing is I think I have to haul my ass up to a different dropzone to see one/find the girl who sells them... I'm lazy... And poor, if I go there I'll have to pay $17 instead of $10.5 that I pay at my home dz. You're the driver, not a passenger in life.
  14. I bought one this spring, I've put around 60 jumps on it now. It took only 6 weeks to get it, which is nice. The fit was nice until I washed it, it shrunk 2" and the colours lost a bit of the luster. The pricing is definitley nice. The quality is only so so.. after 60 jumps on it there are three seams coming undone. I think they should use a higher grade thread. After they saw mine, a couple of guys at my dropzone bought them also. One got completely wrong colors but good fit? The other two ripped within 10 jumps. I bought mine as a first jumpsuit, and as I figured i'd probably crash it to pieces anyway I went with a cheap one. My next suit will probably be russian, theyre even cheaper. 15. Hello folks! Newbie from Sweden here, took my license in sept 2002. I'm really happy I decided to try skydiving, it's the best thing I've ever done. I stumbled upon a great DZ here in Sweden, we use an Antonov-2 which is great for me as a beginner, plus theres no hotshit-attitudes around. Warm blue skies, Peter You're the driver, not a passenger in life.
