    Used BASE rigs?

I need a BASE rig, does anyone know of any sites where people post used BASE gear?
  2. Any good sites out there for use base rigs?
  3. My final 2 cents on it. I've psycho packed my Sabre 210 and have consistantly had softer openings without massive snivel. I like the way it opens far better than pro pack, BUT! A skydiver I have a great deal of respect for stopped packing his Velocity because of off heading openings and twists.
  4. I've Psycho Packed my Sabre for my last 150 jumps with great openings. I wonder if PD doesn't reccomend it because Prec Aero came up and pushes the method.
  5. I've been psycho packing my sabre for a while and now am packing an older F-111 PD 150. Is there any reason not to continue psycho packing? I'm a lot more comfortable with that method than pro or side.
  6. It's great. You really have no idea how all over the place you are until you get in there and start bouncing off the walls. And yeah, the mirrors are awsome. I had about 50 jumps when I went in and it helped a lot. They also film the whole thing. One note: Try to get in during the daylight, the darker it gets the more bugs get sucked into the thing.

    Workday musings

Actually you can hear the soul being sucked from your body, it sounds like this: "I do"
  8. I did skydiving before PADI. My inlaws love the way I have dragged their daughter into skydiving and SCUBA. I've done sites around Jamaica. They were pretty cool. Well, warm actually. I trained in Chicago and froze my *^#% off. Of course in Chicago if you want to take a leasurely swim in Lake Michigan it's probably best to suit up and grab a tank. To get good diving I need to travel, but for skydivers who haven't done it, DO IT! Experience it all.
  9. Actually I've been to Skydive Chicago, and yes Roger was at the door. No problems with the spot and the runway really sticks out. It was early spring and one thing struck me, every jump was 12.5 on the dot. You could set your altimeter to it. Do you ever get extra?
  10. Last year we had a great pilot named Nick. He nailed the spot every time, the for the ride alongs would dive the King Air after we got out. I'm pretty sure he flew somewhere in Texas last fall.
  11. I know it's still early in the season, but our pilot SUCKS! We lease the plane/pilot and we got a new one this year. It started clearing up Sunday so we called him out to fly. He acted all bothered because he had to come in, looks up and says, you'll only get 1500. So we get in and fly up. Everything broke apart. It was totally blue. At 3 grand he flattens it out and tells us it's jump run. We were like, Let's go up, it's all blue. Then he reaches over and opens the door. I can understand him being a bit conservative in terms of FAA regs, but what a @#%^. This guy will leave the summer with a zillion hours of twin turbo prop time. He should show a little respect to the people paying him to get those hours. OK. I feel better.
  12. My wife tried AFF last summer. Man, she was horrible. All over the place in freefall, landing downwind, landing on the freeway, it just got worse. She quit. Then this girl shows up over the winter and does AFF, takes forever to finish but sticks it out and graduates. I make a few jumps with her and BOOM, my wife decides she'll try again. She goes back and repeats level III and IV this weekend. Both great dives and nearly on target landings. She's back (meaning I get more DZ time)! Never underestimate a woman who is out to show up another woman.

    girlfriends

Man, be careful. You have to tune in once and a while. I used to sit there and smile as mine talked, buzzing with adren and not hearing a word. Then she started asking me about the things she said.
  14. You will have to decide for yourself. Diferent people have different tolerances to the adren. Back in the old days before AFP (last summer), I did AFF. I did my first jump one Saturday, 2&3 the next, 4& well 4 again the next, then 5,6, and 7 the following. The problem when you first start is finding your limit and trying not to push it. The addiction will push you to do more than you can. In terms of weather, yeah, do what you can when you can. Last weekend I got 10 jumps in, and now it's going to rain all memorial day weekend.
  15. Pack, eat a burrito a few hours before you go. Let out a nasty one and trust me, the mood on the plan will change quick (the exit will be quick too)
