Lets all get together on a group buy, maybe we can save shipping that way. Sid sent me a RW suit that is too tight, but I definetly want to get a suit or two from these guys. The suit Sid sent me was very well built.

If y'all do that be aware there sizes are "small" - I think Pakistani's may be a little "slightly built" compared to the average American ;)

Perfect! Thank you! Frexer was quite enthusiastic in their reply to my initial contact, and I don't doubt their integrity or sincerity. I've simply come to rely on first-hand experience with jumpsuits and taking that advice to heart. I look forward to hearing your impressions on the freefly suits.

The 2 freefly suits showed up, they are heavy duty, double needled and all seams overlocked. I asked for them to be a little baggy as we plan on using them as tandem suits and mine seems just fine. The velcro fastenings are commercial grade, there is a pocket on the left leg and (for $40 plus $25 shipping) I'm happy with it. I've attached a couple of pics..........

Do you think it may be possible that the suits made in these countries are built using child labour???

Hey - if it's good enough for Kathie Lee Gifford, it's good enough for me.......:)

actually I told the owner that I was probably traveling to India later this year and he asked me to come visit his production facility in Pakistan. I doubt he'd do that if he was running a child sweatshop, although I did let slip I can sew a little, maybe he just wants to handcuff me to a sewing machine

How much did shipping cost? From Pakistan has got to be expensive, 70 bucks or so?

$50 for 4 suits crammed into a small box and covered with that woven nylon netting. Everything shipped by mail.

I visited their site and sent them an email requesting pricing information. They kindly responded and are awaiting my response. Is the quality of the suits you've purchased through them such that you believe they will last long enough to make it worth my while to purchase a freefly suit from them?

The suits that I got were RW suits (I got these from Frexer not from jumpswear) and are excellent quality. I am using them for my tandem students. I have a couple of Freefly suits coming to use as tandem instructor suits, they are due anyday, if you want to hang on I'll let you know how they are and post a pic for ya!

The suits I have so far are all double needle sewn, reinforced butts, overlocked and well made. I paid $35 each for them plus shipping. I'll report on the Freefly suits when they get here..........

  7. This from a guy known for "humming it down" and going straight to his reserve (below the hard deck) just because he needed a repack! C'mon Tom..........:P

Sid got some- let's see if he chimes in

I don't believe that was the same company, but it was from the same region

I got some from a different company, but as Tim said, still in the same area of Pakistan. The suits were really well made and I use them mainly for tandem students. In fact I have a couple more on order right now. The company I got mine from was Frexer, and my dealings with them have been really good and professionally conducted (although I seem to have become the owners new e-pen pal). Their website wasn't a rip off (although it was riddled with an amazing number of adjectives) and featured Pakistani models showing the range of suits.

you must have the wrong guy :P - I won't be back until the fall I'm sure, Chuck. Looking forward to doing some more tandumbs outa the Caravan - the 182's up here are getting kinda crowded..... :S - seriously look into the chefware pants thing. 10. You've videoed me wearing my Ouragan Tandem Jacket but I match it with (big trade secret coming out here) Black Chefware pants. Thick cotton, rugged construction and a whopping $25 a pair! I wear the large size but the draw string waist makes them fit and the baggy pants helps me outfly the big boys!

These customers insisted on being together in the airplane, as well as getting their own freefall video. We don't have hand cams.

There's another problem, letting your tandem students run the dz ;) while it's nice to accomodate their requests sometimes you just have to say "sorry - no can do" - or like Rob said, get a handcam set up too

  13. the flak you're taking is from idiots with their heads up their asses! A well packed Javelin is as safe as any other rig on the market. Some would even tell you that the fewer flaps covering the reserve pilot chute the quicker the reserve deployment (which can come in handy and may account for why I only jump Racer).

It's all in the rigging, a badly packed Vector with the pilot chute fully covered by a bunch'o'flaps is less safe than a well packed Javelin (check out the vector "failing" on skydiving movies.com due to shitty rigging).

I'd just tell the idiots to shut their pie-holes while you jump your rig............:P

Wow, lucky man you are to have seen them live back in the day...

For those interested, here's a good website dedicated to Syd.

    R.I.P. ...

You have no idea how lucky. You can read some details of that tour in the book "Saucerful of Secrets" but as I remember the line-up was Eire Apparent, Amen Corner, The Nice (later - ELP) Pink Floyd, The Move (later ELO and Wizzard) and The Jimi Hendrix Experience........... all my buddies were raving over Hendrix, I was mesmerized by Pink Floyd.... they did 2 numbers in their 20 minutes.....

  15. When I was around 14, a few friends and I went to Chatham, Kent to see a HUGE tour that starred Jimi Hendrix. The 3rd or 4th band to play was Pink Floyd, and the roadies pulled this shambling man onstage who just stood there while the band played about 20 mnutes of mind bending psychedelic rock.

Syd was too stoned to play but they put him out there anyway. I checked out and bought every piece of vinyl that they produced, and without a doubt Syd had PURE genius simmering underneath a thin layer of psychosis. That much genius cannot be contained all the time though and when it SHONE THROUGH, WOW!

Good luck Syd, you were a major influence and factor in my life, may the next part be better for you...........:|

I think it's a tremendous waste of time to PRO pack anything larger than about 120 square feet. Others will argue that it's a tremendous waste of space to flat-pack anything. Whatever. When I flat pack the main is laid on it's side for maybe one minute before it's exactly the same width as the person PRO packing. I flat pack my tandem rig and every single student rig I have ever touched.

    Chuck

Its really good to hear that from a jumper of your status. I have a better sense of the packing techniques now and I understand that when you pack all day, as I do every Saturday and Sunday, you want to get faster. But I will never, ever lose my safety consciousness no matter how pissed off anyone gets for the amount of time it takes me to pack the device that's going to prevent them from bouncing !

    Thanks again.

I Pro-Pack everything, Tandems, Student and sport rigs. I remember Scott Campos (LouDiamond) saying - AND I QUOTE "Anyway, Mike Forsythe told me that flat packing is just for pussies who don't know how to pro-pack" - I'm ducking and running now, 'cause I KNOW chuck could kick my ass :P

They leave the school building ready to skydive. They walk to the airplane ready to skydive. They get in the plane ready to skydive, then ride to altitude ready to skydive, then they get hooked up and leave the plane with me.

    Chuck

Fuck - I HATE it when I agree with Chuck! Great Answer SM1! I cringe when I see them in the plane - shoulder straps falling off - I often wonder what an emergency exit would look like..............
