  5. Hey Pimp, I have a Javelin J2 with a 181 reserve and a Sabre2 main. Its a little tight but works just fine. Sabre2 has about 150 jumps on it so its still a little slippery and its a bitch to get in the bag.
  6. I havent checked with the manufacturer yet, but i think i want to go with the 2K Composites FF2. No exposed camera, smooth lines, no real snag points. Seen one guy at my DZ that has one and it looks pretty good. Anyone have any idea if the helmet takes the Sony HC20,30,40.
  7. Your HC20 is mounted on the left? What kind of camera helmet to you have and what the best way to have in mounted to the helmet. I was looking at the HC20. Was only like $425
  8. I see alot of skydiving films and pictures that really show the pure beauty of our sport. Norman Kent i believe has made some of the most amazing shots of our sport. It would be awesome to one day be half as good as that. Some people do excel in this sport a little faster than others. I do not plan on jumping camera till next summer. This gives enough time to talk to the experts, get good advice and really study up on it and also get more jumps under my belt. I do want to get into it gradually. Its not something i am going to rush into but its the discipline i'd like to get into.
  9. Hey guys. Finally decided I would like to fly camera. Been talking to other camera guys for about 6-8 months, reading books on it and so forth. I have a Hawkeye left side mount camera helmet. Been looking at all types of cameras. Looking for something slim. Checked out Best Buy but havent been anywhere else. Sony cameras i saw were Sony DCRHC20, C30 and C40. Basically same camera with more options. Just looking at filming around the DZ. Fun jumpers doing 3-4 ways who want to get filmed, solo jumpers that kind of thing. Goal is to one day film tandems. Suggestions on cameras and any safety tips would be appreciated.
  10. I dont use the audible as my main altitude indicator, its strictly a back-up, was just getting some ideas as to what are good altitude setting for the "just in case"
  11. I currently have a pro-track set at: 4500 ft------break off 3000 ft------deploy 2000 ft------hard deck/emergency procedures just looking for input what others may have their audibles set at. Thanks
  12. Well shit folks. Talked to the girlfriend today and told her that in the next couple of weeks im getting back in the air and i'm going to have to make the DZ at least twice month. This coming Sunday gotta work, the following Sunday im playing in a charity golf tournament but the Sunday after that i'm free as a bird. I figure 2 sundays a month should produce a minimum of 10 jumps a month, more if possible. I dont think i could have walked away from the sport. I know i would have regreted it later for sure. Thanks eveyone.
  13. I've got the balls to do it. I've become one of those maniacs that needs to jump 500-600 times a year. I itch to be at 14k every friday, saturday and sunday. My plan is to one day be debt free and skydive for a living. (A small living i know)
  14. I have been in the sport 3 full years now and only have 106 jumps. About 60 of those last year. I itch to jump every single day. This year alone i cannot count on two hands the numbers of jump days i've missed because of weather. I can only jump on sundays and it seems every sunday i can jump the weather turns to shit or if i end up having to work on a sunday, its beautiful. I watch training films every single day, mentally train myself everyday. Fly like a pro, breakaway, pack like a pro, etc etc etc. I look at skydiving pics online and it drives me fucking crazy that i cannot jump as often as i like. All i'm asking is 125-150 jumps a year. Thats only 10-12 a month. This 2-3 average right now is nuts. I want to one day be one of the best in this sport and get evey rating possible!!!! It would be awesome to be an instructor one day and teach the newbies, give back something to the sport that ive grown to love!!!! I've sat and thought about this over and over in my mind. One part of me says "walk away". The other part of me says "hell no". SDSM has been great, the people are awesome, Phil has always been there to help me out. Do i want to walk or keep flying with all my brother and sisters?????
  15. I currently fly a Sabre 2 170 and for me the Sabre is great. I'm only loaded at 1.1 and on no wind days it comes in pretty quick. I notice on your Tri your loading in the 1.2 range. Just something to think of here.......going to a Sabre 2 170 means you will be flying a much more aggressive wing than what you have now. I'm guessing your wing load will be in the 1.3ish range. I only have 104 jumps and can tell you that the Sabre 2 is fun to fly even at 1.1 I would go with a 170 to be a little safer. You will have a great time with the Sabre and it will be safer to. I think and earlier post suggested you go with the 170. Demo it and i'm sure you will like it.
  16. I'm actually looking for anyone who has personally been to a DZ in Vegas. Looking for info such as atmosphere, overall operations of the DZ.
  17. Hey all. I'm gonna be heading to Vegas Labor Day weekend to get married and of course i want to do the proper thing and visit a DZ and do a jump with family in tow. Was checking to see if anyone had any input on a DZ or DZ's around Vegas and which may be the top DZ to visit. Thanks for any info
  18. I do believe i will move to a PDR 160 as soon as its possible. Thanks guys.
  19. I bought a Javelin harness/container that included the cypress and 181 Raven Dash-M Reserve. I have not had to use the reserve but wanted to hear from others who may have one and what paoples opnions are. Looking at maybe getting a PD 160 reserve.
  20. Went to South Padre Island this weekend for my brothers wedding and was pumped to do a jump on the island. Called one DZ and it was busy 24/7, called the other DZ and was told they were not operating and didnt believe anyone was operating. 2 DZ and no jumps. Dude on the phone sounded a little funny on the phone like maybe they were shut down or something. Something just didnt sound right. Weather was great, rig was ready. I was so damn depressed that i couldnt jump. Anyone know anything about the DZ's in South Padre?
  21. Hey Kramer. I didnt dream about any one person going in because i never saw the face of the people. For all i know i may have been seeing myself. I would never tell someone i had a dream about them going in, that may make them freak out and think about it while in freefall....not a good thing.
  22. Lately i have had a couple of dreams about skydivers falling to their deaths. I havent been in the air for about 5-6 weeks mainly due to weather so i dont know if my mind is trying to tell me to get the hell back up or maybe to hold off this weekend. The first dream i remember seeing a jumper hit the ground from 200-300 yards away. Now just the other night i saw two jumpers get entangled, canopies, collapsed, no cutaway, no reserve and a high speed impact to mother earth. This dream was a little more nerve racking because the jumpers hit the ground maybe 20 feet away and you could hear what sounded like every bone break in the dream. One male jumper, one female jumper. I plan on being at the dropzone on sunday anyway (rain forcasted again, go figure) and i'm sure others have had dreams like mine but did it in any way alter their plans to jump. What if anything did you do because of the drems.
  23. I havent jumped for 5 weeks but plan on being at the DZ this weekend if the weather holds out. Should i repack my main because of the 5 week layoff or am i good to go. The rig is in a gear bag and has pretty much not moved in the 5 weeks other than moving it from the living room to the closet.
  24. Hear we are on the last weekend before the big October change. Some jumpers that were close in jump numbers to get there B or C license i hear them say "What for". On Friday morning i had 94 jumps. Ok, enough for a B but i also wanted that C license. Friday ends up a rain day but we managed 2 loads and i got one of them. Saturday had to work, was able to get off a little early and got one more in. Sunday.......clear as a bell, beautiful day, of course i got the other 4 jumps in. Some people asked me "Why" and "What for". I've always heard instructors say if you can get a rating or license then you should go for it and get it. Does me getting a C license make me a better skydiver than at 94 jumps? Not even close. But what it did do is give me a feeling of great accomplishment and made the jumps just that much sweeter. It was worth the 2 hour round trip drive each of those 3 days to get the C license. To everyone out there (and i'm sure its a shit load) that played hard this weekend to get there B, C or D license. Congratulations!
