  1. there is no delay with IAD (for you yanks, think Static line, but instead an instructor is holding your Pilot Chute and places it in the air flow when the student lets go). The Canadian PFF program requires IADs (or Tandems in some DZs) prior to getting signed of to PFF. hahaha i guess we can all tell how much i was drinking last night... thats funny....... sorry for the missinfo.... trust me i know better...... for some reason i was thinking progression and that you were past the iad part... talk to your instructors and let them know your concerns im sure they wioll have a solution for you
  2. what kind of delay are you taking..... i will take a first time jumper on an aff anyday...."with one other trusted instructor.." in the aff program you get 60 seconds or soo to figure it out.... iaf.. well it depends on your delay... the exit is the hardest part..... your first 10 seconds out the door are definatly the hardest part... in my opinion.. you get two compatent instructors to get you past that "first 10 sec." then you got 50 seconds to work on the arch in a more relaxed controlled setting.... it still is going by real fast but after the first 10 seconds seems to be when most students.... start to learn.,... but like i said... these are my opinions and im sure there are pleanty more opinions out there........ talk to your instrucor.. and if you dont like there answere then talk to another instructor...... good luck and i hope you find your way... dont let these things frustrate you... you will get it.... its like riding a bike... it will click and you will have it for good... mark
  3. IAD= instructor assisted deployment... you should definatly ask these questions to your instructor... in my opinion i think you would learn more and learn faster doing aff.... aff=accelerated freefall... if the dz your jumping at doesnt offer this... then i would shop around at other drop zones and see who does... also make sure they are a "uspa" drop zone.. later... mark./..
  4. the insurance is a third party insurance... if you hit a tandam studenst windshield and break it ... well it will cover it... if you hit your own windsheild... then you screwed and have to buy a new windsheild
  5. yes there is a time limit... you have to make one jump every 30 days all the way till you get your a license.... then to keep your a license current you have to do one every 60 days i believe.... then if you want to get the unlimited then you would have to get oyu d license... wich is going to 500 jumps soon....
  6. maybee you should shop around that price!! but then again they may be quoting you all the way through to your a license.... if soo then that price may bee about right.. but the jumps get cheaper as they goo.. ive spent 10's of 1000's of $ on this sport... and well... it is worth every penny... money cannot put a value on skydiving at all... mark
  7. well it depends... do you want to become a full fledged skydiver???? is so then maybee you should look into going the rout of aff.. accellerated freefall... if your not sure then maybee you should do another tandam... if you dont want to become a skydiver but you want the thrill every now and then.... well just keep doing tandams... there is a tandam progression program that works for some... but in my opinion.."me being an aff instructor and tandam instructo." if you want to do it and you know you want to do it .. then do the aff program... i think it is the best way to learn... the tandam progression program is good too... but i see alot of students have a few problems crossing over.... what i mean by that is.. well you have to cross over to the aff program at some point in the tandam progression... and it is a large leap....."no pun intended"... ask your drop zone about wich kind of methods they have to teach you to become a skydiver... welcome... later mark
  8. i just ordered a helmate from them... nobody there speaks english.. i have a freind that speaks poteguise. so i had him order it for me... my roomate has one and he really likes it... i think it is a decent helmate.... decent price also... it comes with the side mount camera box also.. shipping and all from brazill was $320
  9. hahahaha thats all we need ..... excuse me... thats all i need... anyways... keep me out of the polatics dammit... i dont want to deal with the polatics... im sure i will see everyone around here soon it is time for me to make my rounds at all the local dz's
  10. ok you obviously are a better speaker than me so im going to shut up now.. i was going to type more... but i think i should be quiet.... just please peaple... dont talk shit about my home.... god knows i dont talk shit about yoours... later mark ya ya ya ok i give up/......
  11. you may never have the "true" feeling of what its about... but you will always want more... and as for the motorcycle..... i ride also so i can relate... im way more afraid of the bakie than i am skydiving.. just because the earth is soooooooo close on a bike..... no time to react...
  12. hmmmmmm maybee i will make one just for you... im going to make one soon i can feel it... i just dont know when.... cmon we need more prizes .... hahaha
  13. where does it say the directions there??? i dont see them?....
  14. your right.. i didnt know that.... but i see it now ... my appolagies....
  15. edit.... anyways.. all those areas are in there market are.. they are kinda in the corner of tenasee georgia. alabama and south carlina.... ya the directions all go to asc "adventure skydiving center"... i urge you to goto those websites for yourself..... and not just rely on what that page says...
  16. Come on out, Mark! It was good to see you again. thanks.... it was really nice coming out there....
  17. i may be wrong but i dont think anyone pays a fee to be listed... but if they are not in agreement somhow then the consumers they market get sent to the drop zone or hang gliding place that is in agreement.. and i think you will find that the drop zones out there that are useing 1800skyride are loveing the amount of buissness that they have recived from themm....
  18. What exactly do you mean by "sub-out"? Sorry I must be missing something. well i dont do any work there so i really dont know how it works exactly... but the drop zones in certain areas... well what he does is the marketing i guess and then sells either a tandam or hanglider ride or ballon ride or whatever.. and then ... well for example.. say they sell a tandam for 165 well they may have an agreement with a certain dz in a certain area... to do them for 150... so they made say 15 bucks for answering a phone and of couse .. getting the consumer to call them...
  19. Wow... and this takes the cake! http://www.makeithappen.com/jumps/review/cedartown.html#pp Sheesh.... Speaking from personal experience, I'll never go there again. I do encourage everyone to make up their own mind about the place though, YYMV I do feel much better now.... knowing that my DZ is "SAFE approved skydiving center" http://www.skydivinginfo.com EDIT: Oops... we must have done something unsafe, and lost our certification - not listed on http://www.skydivinginformation.com/ EDIT AGAIN: Wow! And they're moving north! KENTUCKYSKYDIVING.COM and http://www.ohioskydiving.com EDIT #3: Now this is just getting ridiculous... someone PLEASE tell me he's just bulk registering names with the hopes of selling them to someone. O rhas the intention of opening a DZ all over the country. CALIFORNIASKYDIVING.COM is registered to the same person. (no, I didn't find that myself, Phreezone did) ya the guy that does theyre marketing... well anyways i asked him about this one.... pauls parachute... he laughed and said it was a joke... its kinda funnie i think.. even the skyvan or whatever it is being called an otter.. hahaha thats funnie,,... he knows his airplanes so im sure he is laughing all about this thread...
  20. ive seen this happen on 3 different sony cameras... some worse than others...... each time i had sent them in to get them fixed it was just a minor adjustment... of the "gate" i think they called it..... it has somthing to do with the tape "trcking" or timing.... each one of them that did this had been dropped lightly or had a very hard opening with it... one of them had real bad pixleation in the video also... i suggest you take it to sony with a copy of a tape with it doing it....... sony has great cust service.... and there technicians seem to know whaty they are doing also....
  21. yes the company now markets everywhere across the us..... they sub out to participating drop zones for a small fee........ they are gettin rich off it too...
  22. what are you talking about??? did you jump there on sept 11th?? i didnt ... i called the dz that day and they told me they werent jumping.... whatever dude!!! you hear a roumer and you just got to spread it more..... dbat!!! \you ever been there??? you ever called there>????? i didnt think soo Ok Mark, I have been watching this and not saying anything, I was there on the Saturday following September 11, 2001 standing next to a gentleman who drove the "20 minutes" from Nashville, because hey, they were jumping. Anyway, he gets his cell phone, calls the dz, talks to the owner who tells him, "Yes, we are jumping, there have been three loads up already today." The gentleman then tells him he is standing in the parking lot and gets hung up on. He then called the sherrif, still gets no refund, even though he was lied to to get him to the dz in the first place. This is an honest businessman? i was there also that sat...... and they were telling peaple that they were grounded.... i even answered the phone a couple of times...... the students who showed up that day never got in touch with themmm,....... and there was only a couple...... i was there that entire weekend and i dont recall them saying that on the phone once!~!!!! but then again... im not following them around to see wht they are saying on the phone......... but i do remember somone getting mad about not being able to jump that day......... but from whaty i remember that person never got in touch with them they just drove out there on thair appointment date... \ and how does this discussion have anything to do with asc being a cool drop zone for a skydiver to jump at?????
