  1. I am trying to gauge the actual speed/range difference a suit can give you vs. the range you have by changing your body position. For example, if the range between your slowest falling body position and your fastest belly arch is X, how does that compare to a modern FF suit of the fastest nylon vs. the heaviest cordura option? Any other explanation regarding baggy or tight fit would also be helpful. I know the suit is a tool but how much difference can it really make?
  2. For sure the money is part of the equation. Certainly not the priority in this particular case. Although parting with money is bound to induce some kind of resistance. Through some healthy research said resistance should certainly be extinguished if there is a safety concern.

  4. That is the answer I want only if you actually have a 348 and Pilot 188 ZPX that you have packed safely in the container. Video proof in HD might also be required. I know for sure that a Pilot 210 ZPX packs one size smaller and was assuming the same for the 188. Many on here actually testify that Pilot ZPX's pack closer to 2 sizes smaller.
  5. Their long standing publicised chart does say that a Pilot 168 is a full fitting fit. Which lead to the conclusion that a ZPX Pilot one size up would also fit. Not an extreme presumption at all.
  6. Is anyone packing a Pilot 188 ZPX in a Vector 348 ??? There is plenty of information leading me to think this is in fact realistic and possible. But UPT have suddenly come back saying it is not and that a Pilot 188 ZPX packs the same size as a Sabre 2 190. I know the container manufacturer is probably right but they haven't provided an explanation and all other sources seem to indicate a mistake has been made. Very annoying.

  8. Premise: I am absolutely unqualified to give any skydiving or flying advice. I have fully enjoyed 4 hours in the tunnel in the last few months. But that's it. Today I tamed belly to back and back to belly flip transitions. A great satisfaction for me and my absolutely esteemed coach. He seemed even more joyful than i was in there. Then during debrief he mentioned the sad news about the death of the flyer that inspired him to be an instructor. Once I was back home I watched the video that had inspired my instructor. In the beginning there is a shot of him flying on his back, static, with his eyes closed. This shot touched me. The next time I am in the tunnel I will do this. 1 flight. static. belly or back. eyes closed. Just to feel. Not think. Pretty sure this should be part of the curriculum. Will report back.
  9. Yes you are correct. I apologise as it wasn't clear in my last post. As a non UK resident the companies above will not sell you personal accident insurance. Although, today, one of them has offered me a life insurance policy which would include personal accidents.

Although I understand from the BPA manual that the insurance included with membership will cover me... http://www.bpa.org.uk/member/insurance-and-travel/ some alarming responses by 2 skydiving specific insurance companies (Sky Cover & AIB-Insurance) are making me doubt the validity of the BPA's policy. Both these companies will not insure me as a NON UK resident. Now my question is: what company does the BPA use? I would like to at least speak to said company to verify first hand.
  13. Hi Mark Ok that is clear now. From that paragraph I understand that as an EU resident jumping in the UK under BPA membership I am covered. The same would be true if I were jumping at a BPA affiliated DZ's in the EU.
  14. I am posting this here after an ongoing but fruitless (for the moment) email exchange with the BPA. SITUATION I am an Italian resident and will be working to get a BPA A License via AFF training starting on the 14th of April in the UK. I believe that enrolment will require a temporary BPA membership which under normal circumstances (UK residents) includes a third party liability insurance, a mandatory condition for any skydiving in the UK. QUESTIONS Is this insurance policy valid for an Italian citizen resident in Italy? I know at least some skydiving specific insurance policies such as SkyCover do not cover non UK residents. Which company does the BPA use? If I do have to buy independent insurance, could you give me specific details of the type of coverage I will need to contract in Italy to satisfy the BPA requirements?

  16. I've had spinal fusion (titanium rods support) L4-L5-S1 almost 20 yrs ago in my early 20's. Gave up all sports then apart from a little physio post surgery. Now I'm 39 and only the prospect of skydiving has brought a rebirth. Been training in the tunnel for the past months and booked in for AFF in the Spring. Yes, I am scared of hurting my back during landing (the tunnel seems to not affect it at all and the extra training i'm doing is actually very helpful, swimming and core) but I am just going to have to find out the hard way I guess.

  18. My man is in rural Spain actually. Lots of holiday airline traffic though, especially in the Summer. I think there is hope though as I know he flies his balloon alot I wonder if perhaps he has some altitude restrictions that would make the jump not possible.
  19. Thank you very much. Based on these calculations, my initial hypothesis that flying time in a tunnel is mostly expensive due to power costs is wrong. This is probably a good thing as the power costs are probably the the most challenging to diminish. Can anyone else pitch in to make me understand where all my money is going?
  20. I am worried the balloon guy might not be too happy when I let him know we want to jump off his ship. Or are you implying we get on as tourists and then whip out our rigs once in the sky and jump off ? As much as i'd love to see the pilot's face i don't think this would be realistic. For example does he need any special approval from aviation authorities?
