  1. Of your three options I would go with Bay of Islands given the superb scenery. Possibly the most scenic dropzone in NZ is Queenstown. Rotorua is also nice and there's heaps to do when not skydiving. The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.

    Silly Tricks

Can someone please explain Free Base'ing to me - cheers. The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.
  3. It seems that the pursuit is more essential than the goal. The relentless drive of humankind to seek out the novel, to explore the limits of mind, muscles, and senses, to take great risks in spite of fear, to release the animal brain from the constraints of the social brain, may be the source of both his creativeness and his destructiveness. Perhaps he painted his caves for ritualistic or magical functions, but maybe he also wanted something to look at besides the dull cave walls. (M. Zuckerman, 1974:80) The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.
  4. I'm abit of a sucker for achieving things for myself. I wouldn't want a BASE # handed to me without me deserving it. Was thinking about a guide/mentor, not a 'servant'. If you're gonna learn to BASE why not do it in a place with experienced mentors and good objects. Careful what you say Nick - I might just take you up on that offer. Don't imagine you as the sort of person that would involve me in dangerous shortcuts. The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.
  5. Quotenick dg wrote Let's stop training 3 or 4 students at a time for free or for a few hundred bucks. If you want to be a true BASE mentor take one person at a time, charge them five thousand dollars, and take them all the way to a BASE number. Is there anyone doing this at the moment? Coming from a small country with an extremely limited BASE scene, the idea of doing a FJC and then gaining ground crew and jumping experience from a number of different objects certainly appeals. However, if I was travelling to the US to do this it would have to be over a fairly compact time period - otherwise there would be issues with a visa and money to live. This seems like _somewhat_ of an alternative approach to heading home after a FJC and 'starting again' with a mentor. The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.
  6. Hey RhondaLea As you've taken the time to consider my statements, I'll take the time to explain myself better. The point I was trying to make is if people have money it is usually because they have worked for it. To get and keep a job requires skills, motivation, and generally hard work. Thus, I contend that someone having money may well be an indication of qualities that would make them a suitable skydiver/BASEr. I did refute the packing example (see the following sentence) as I recognise that the use of packers is a contentious issue. I like your 'pack sometimes to keep your eye in' approach. 7. There seems to be some 'attitude' towards people with money; people who appear lazy. I would suggest that most people with money have it because they have worked for it, and they have a good job to make the money because they have worked for a qualification. People working 50-60 hour weeks might want to spend their hard-earned cash making their leisure time more confortable (eg, skydivers who employ packers). Ignoring the last example, maybe there should be more concern about the 'freeloaders' with no money. The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.
  8. That some funny shit - great job!! Reminds me of a story. When I was younger I asked if I could visit the flight deck during a commercial flight. The captain said sure and told me to bring my stuff from the overhead lockers up to the front of the plane. Still at cruising height I walked past one of the stewardesses with personal effects in hand. She said, looking somewhat confused: "You can't get off yet sir". 9. If you are looking for an action movie such as Aliens then you will infact be disappointed. War of the Worlds is more of a disaster movie (not saying that the movie is a disaster) mixed with a thriller (although not as scary or atmospheric as say Signs). Some solid acting and not as much special FXs as were developed and could have been released with the movie. Haven't seen too many good movies lately, so this one is worth a look IMHO. 11. I have no problem with the American flag and highly admire yanks for their patriotism. Us Kiwis are getting there re being proud of our country and it's a very cool thang. You would have to admit that some movies - eg, Independence Day - go way over the top. The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.
  12. Those luscious lips look rather kissable to me. Yeah, you got it goin on gf The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.
  13. Psycho pack your main, rub your rig against all the surfaces in the a/c, track up and down the jump run, smoke it down real low, stear your canopy with only your feet through the toggles, hook it in and then swear at anyone who tells you off. Actually, don't do any of those things cos I might wanna meet you one day and give ya a big hug. The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.
  14. Yep - set in the US, but minimal 'we are America saving the world, gotta love us' stuff or blatant display of US flags, etc The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.
  15. Anyone seen this movie yet and if so, what did you think about it? Here are my thoughts. Movie was mostly true to the original story - eg, with story from perspective of one man (Cruise's character). Could have done with some more tension/danger for the characters (maybe I'm desensitised). Aliens were far too big-eyed and cutesy for killers. Soundtrack sounds real spooky but didn't notice it at all during the movie. Overall, pretty good but I could have come out more freaked out. Something different and different is good in Hollywood. 7.5/10 The only thing worse than a cold toilet seat is a warm toilet seat.
