  1. Nothing wrong with tempos other than their lifetime limit of only 20 years, which some people seem to ignore routinely...

  2. If you look around you see a hell lot of almost new/barely jumped suits from all different kind of manufacturers out there. If they happen to become a little more popular right now that's only a natural progression.
Not saying they are not crap (which I really can't confirm or deny as I've never even heard from them) but to say you see a few of their suits online is a moot point.

There are a lot of jumpers out there using Suuntos quite happily.

And then there are a couple, that aren't. Somewhere on YT are a few more recent examples why using watches as altimeters isn't a great idea, but I can't find them atm. Most didn't end up as bad as this AFFI-trainee anyway. Maybe sb has more time and luck than me.

7 years old but still interesting. Especially the part, where his Suunto Core went from 4616ft to 2631ft in 4 seconds.

    ETA: forgot the link :)

Isn't it the other way round? The more butthurt, the funnier it gets usually :):P

  5. You might want to read the sigma manual first. Your choice of reserves might be more limited than you think.

  6. How many times do we have to tell you that you really don't know yet, what you don't know?

40% sounds like a lot, admitedly. But it actually isn't. It's on the base price of a new container, not even including the options. So might safe you 4-500 bucks but only very few manufacturers even offer such discounts for US-soldiers. You might not even want to jump their products when you look at the broader picture/every manufacturer out there.
Instead of asking for help in a fraud your best bet to get a discount is searching on facebook for some boogie vouchers. There is not much choice, it might not be what you want but if you are in desperate need of saving a few bucks this might be your only hope.

Get your act together and start jumping, own gear is not important at your stage right now.

  7. Interesting to hear the manufacturers opinion, thanks for the info.
But let's be honest. A 100% intended purpose complying use is not going to happen.
I especially like the adjustable laterals for heavy weight xrw jumps, corner free design also is perfect for hopnpops, slim and aerodynamic design for angle jumps... please, somebody buy this thing so I can jump it :)

I honestly fail to see the difference between ws carving and ff carving/angle dives when it comes to requirements of the rig. It would be a shame if they gave that answer solely from fear of lawsuits.

  8. I know what you mean but you can shove the pc handle all the way down, so it really isn't that much of a difference...
Anyway, I'd love to try this container out without a WS. Streamlined rigs would be handy in any angle/FF jump as well. Depending on the tightness of the collar I also don't see a problem for FS.

I wonder how you fill the corners of the container without a freepacked base canopy, though. Might be some thicker foam there like in a curve, to keep it in shape?

  9. Ski world cup athletes with ruptured ACLs were reportedly back on skies as short as 6 weeks after surgery. Although quite risky, their muscle structure was strong enough to support the basically unneeded ligament. Modern and less invasive operation techniques do also come into play.
Although young and fairly strong I didn't have that kind of muscles when I got back with ACL/ PCL/meniscus/femur/hip and spinous process damage and other bits and bots after 6 month, which was about 6-9 month too early.
    Do not recommend :)

  10. As there are already a number of ws specific base rigs with the boc in the exact same position you could easily get around this problem.

Looks like the X3000 is loose inside the waterproof case. Stick some felt fabric or something soft to tighten up the fit so it doesn't have any play. I think that's why there's some wobble during freefall.

the cam is not shaking anymore than with 1080p, it's just that the chip is not fast enough to deal with 4k and high frequenzy shakes and produces this digital wobble. No amount of felt fabric is going to change that, sadly. Only way to avoid it is to reduce physical helm shakes. Very tight fit and smooth movements could help.

If it weren't for the darn form factor this would be a beautiful gopro killer

  12. come on, let him bash what and whoever he wants, if we are all judged by the informational value of our posts and subsequently banned this forum would be empty in no time.
Don't be buthurt clinton voters and let him have fun. Its actually quite entertaining to follow the discussions sprouting from his ranting posts

Suck it up and endure, I bet he's just trolling anyway ^^

  13. On a fltaly trimmed 170 no problem, even at 1.8 like you if you know what you are doing.
The steeper a canopy is trimmed the longer it takes to level off. Chances are with such small wings you run out of power and stalling the canopy way before ever getting level if you don't induce a bit of extra speed.

I don't have enough jumps on Petras/Peregrines to say it with confidence but I sure as heck would never even think about a straight in rear riser only landing under my old and trusty Vc84 at 2.6

***If it was better you would see swoopers using it, for sub terminal deployments on very sensitive light weight wings the PC is much more important.

Never heard anyone say "The SkySnatch makes my hop and pop deployments so much better." And that is precisely the situation it would be best suited for.

I'm not saying it is bad, but as mentioned, mostly marketing and riding the "BASE is best" train. Sure apex vented pilot chutes are more stable, and the shape probably produces more snatch force. When 50ft counts, sure, gimmie a snatch, but in skydiving it doesn't, and there is no evidence to suggest more snatch force = better deployment on a skydiving setup at any speed. More snatch force could equal more line dump and a more rapid deployment, which might mean asymmetrical inflation on an unvented wing. It could also mean a more violent/less stable extraction from a skydiving rig.

Again, not a bad thing, but also not worth the extra cash IMHO.

Don't forget, a regular PC can punch a closing pin through a bridle (sometimes 2 layers of it), I would consider that to be "sufficient extraction force."

Apex PCs are this design? Guess theres no need to replace them with a squirrel snatch on mine.

I don't think he meant APEX as manufacturer but literally apex of the PC.

  15. Sounds like 20 minutes of sewing and a little zp... and I was hoping for project -.-
so you already have the rds and it's damaged? Or by original slider you mean the PD collapsible non removable?

Where are you located? If shipping is within reason it's an easy and quick fix

  16. If Frank and Volker are done sewing sliders the world has become a little darker [:/] I hope, it will be just another break.
If you can get your hands on one set of Lookma rings, old or new design doesn't matter I'd be happy to help you out with the actual slider. Cheap for you, sewing fun for me :) just hit me up if you manage to get the rings

***and now make it go to 4.0.
With all the XRW going on lately that'd be a reasonable extension)
    Thanks for your effort!

Improved ranges visual proportions and made up to 4.0 WL.
    Thanks for suggestion.

Wow, you are quick :o:o:)Thank you very much, highly appreciated

Highly recommend, I have been exclusively jumping his sliders on all my canopies for the last 1300 jumps. Easiest and fastest reattaching, nice minimalistic ring design and fast, friendly service, and everything a lot cheaper than comparable us products.
