  1. Hey Jeremy!!! When are you going to be at Skydive Al again? I haven't seen you around in a while!!!! I can show you the next time you're there. I started psycho packing back when I had my Nitron. See ya! Samantha
  2. Just to clarify: I mean with my psycho pack... I don't have a Safire. Pink Mafia Sis #26
  3. Do you have a G3 or a G4? I have a G4 and my canopy was supposed to fit 'tight' as well. I don't know about the G3's but a 'tight' fit in a G4 means cram it, punch it, jump up & down on it, cus at it, and then kick it! I really do have to psycho pack mine or I can't close the container. (And I'm not being a wimp about it either... my dzo had to use a wooden paddle to close it the 1st time). Icarus says the safire can be psycho packed so I say go for it. I get great openings with mine! If you do start to psycho pack... I'd recommend paying special attention to your distance from other jumpers when you deploy. The first 10 or 15 times I psycho packed I had a lot of off heading openings. I had to work those out... Pink Mafia Sis #26
  4. Riiiiiight CT....good luck with that. Pink Mafia Sis #26
  5. That did it... thanks AggieDave
  6. I've been trying to change my profile pic for a while now and I can't. I can change it to have no picture at all... but when I try to save a new picture to the profile, my old one keeps appearing. What's up?
  7. Good thinking Keely! lol Pink Mafia Sis #26
  8. 8 piercings (7 of which are in my ears), 2 tats... and they rock Pink Mafia Sis #26
  9. 1. I'm probably going to get into it. 2. This forum doesn't affect my feeling towards BASE jumping but it has been helpful in finding new people to get opinions from... and is an interesting read. 3. I'm guessing 300+ skydives. I'm considering taking a fjc this summer. This forum hasn't really affected that number. 4. I'm sure I wouldn't feel comfortable jumping on my own right after the fjc and definitely not with just the info from here or blinc. I think this forum is helpful but it definitely doesn't make or break my opinions of BASE. I have the same feelings about BASE that I did before I started reading this forum. Pink Mafia Sis #26
  10. I had this reaction too. I was a little put off. But I can see why Tom would want to address this issue. It's sad if a woman gets into BASE with underestimated risk due to a b/f wanting and/or pressuring her to jump. (after all... you trust your boyfriend) Actually, this past weekend I did groundcrew for my b/f & one other guy (whom I had just met). After picking them up & leaving site... the guy commented that he "needed to get himself a BASE babe". Maybe he just meant to do groundcrew for him . Anyway... it obviously happens often enough to be a problem. And people's lives are at stake here. There's no harm in discussing it... there might be harm in not discussing it. I agree that this is not just a problem women have. I'm sure men are introduced to this sport by unqualified guys who don't talk about what real risk is involved. Lets be honest here! But this thread is specifically on boyfriends & BASE. Maybe there needs to be a thread on unqualified guys teaching BASE in general. ~Samantha
  11. QuoteI would second the opinion that a good instructor might say: Do what I say, not what I do. My mentor went stowed. Should I go stowed my first jump? NO WAY! So I didn't, and was glad I listened.*** I didn't exactly mean it in that context... but again, good advice. Thanks.
  12. I completely agree with that. Good Advice.
  13. Quote8) In fact, you find yourself telling her more why it is a BAD idea to jump. It is really scary to see somebody you care about jump. If you try hard to discourage them, give them all the information and they still decide to jump... pity on you!*** You mean... do as I say, not as I do. Can I just point out that it may be difficult to discourage your girlfriend from jumping when you do it yourself. If she really wants to get into BASE she's going to do it whether you offer guidence or not.
  14. Finally; I can close a rig by myself - without someone jamming a temp pin into my foot! (Don't ask).*** That was not a stab... just a near miss Pink Mafia Sis #26
  15. Actually I'm not sure about the grommets... that's something I haven't thought of. I only have about 100 jumps on this canopy. My new slider should be here tomorrow... and the slider in question is pacted away but I'll look at it closely this weekend. I'll let you know what I find... Thanks for the input!!!!!! ;) Pink Mafia Sis #26
  16. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem? The last jump I made on my Nitron 150 this past weekend resulted in 5-8 little random tears in my slider. My canopy is fine, no tears at all. I can't figure out what caused this. The first thing I thought was line burn but one of the tears looks like it was snagged by something. It was not a clean slice in the fabric. Someone also suggested it could have been ice but I don't know. I would have thought a slider should be able to withstand something like that. Any ideas? Pink Mafia Sis #26
  17. Does anyone know where there are pics of the Mirage G4 other than on their website? Thanks :) Pink Mafia Sis #26
