  1. yep, that's us :-) i remember our jumps together :-) we will try to compete at the worldmeet this september caren and tom, aka CaTo Caren
  2. well, yes, the neurologists thought so. I also have arthritis in my neck `(other discs though) but the pain in my neck and back, and the numbness in my lefthand was the worst after jumping, and increased with each jump in that year. the specialist said that I better should not jump again.... but after a healing period of some month, and neck muscle training, and another camera setting (using a bullet cam bow, see website-about section) i can now jump again. by the way, the same neurologists (and the fysio) refused to put on a neckbrace when I was hurt: he did not approve of it, said it would only decrease the strenght in the muscles. Rest and muscle training should make the difference. Caren
  3. After having experienced over 500 CRW exits and openings of lightnings with camera(s) on my head, I was diagnosed with a neck hernia in 2004. I was send to a therapist and he learned me a very useful and simple neck-muscle excercise, that you can do anywhere anytime. It's called an Isometric Neck Exercise sit or stand up straight with you head facing forward, mouth closed, chin pushed somewhat inward, to make the spline as straight as possible Now push with your hand on your forehead, and at the same time using your neck muscles to prevent movement. Keep this for 10 second. Do the same thing on the sides and on the back of your head. Repeat the whole sequence at least once. I do this regularly, and it really helps (by the way, I am still jumping CRW, sometimes with (bullet) cam) You can find a similar excercise explained at: http://www.shapefit.com/neck-exercises-isometric-neck-exercises-front-back.html Caren
  4. i've got one now today, let's see if I can make this post.... 5. YES we did some SERIOUS CF jumping at the spektakel @Teuge again :-) With over 50 participant (more than 9 nationalities), 2 planes and a record of over 240 CF jump-tickets on saturday, jumping all 5 days, the event could certainly be called a success! pictures can be found via the CF Spektakel link on my website: cato.makes.it and a small impression is given below Caren
  6. Very nice little center, with an unusual airplane: XL 750. It flies fast, has space for 18 and has a left door, almost like a Cesna caravan. The people at the center are welcome, and pay attention to newcomers and regulars, first-timers and 1000+ jumpers. We were lucky with the weather, blue skies and not too much wind on the only day we could visit the center. We would certainly visit again.
  7. (not taking it personal ) hey dragon, so my video's are 'not good'??? As long as you don't take stills from your video material, and use a decent recording cam, a bullet-cam can really compare with a normal cam. And it can save your neck! Caren
  8. yep, that's the trick ;-) by the way, I am using a sony trv33, and really, the camera should not show any vignetting, Caren
  9. NO! send it back, after email or phoning them about the problem, with a kind request to replace it. they did it with my cam. Before I bought it i had an email discussion with them about the possibility of vignetting, and the asured me it would NOT happen. When I received the cam, it showed the vignet, so I asked them what to do, referring to my emails before, and their statement. they asked to send it back, and I received a new one immediatly, without problems. today I am using a 2.9 and a 3.6 lens, both without problems Caren
  10. just three out of many, it's hard to find 'the best crw pic' since every picture can have something special This first one I really like since it has a different angle: taken from the front, and shows the whole team in action the second one was one of the first try-outs with a fish-eye. And of course the natural pose for a crw-dog after a successful jump: showing off for the camera and then the third is more a try-out of being artistic blue is obviously my favorite color Caren
  11. so for once I am in the pictures in stead of behind (under) the camera Caren
  12. Just to say that we had a nice weekend in Marl, Germany, jumping with a 50-50 german-dutch 8way formation. We've made nice jumps as you can see on the picture Caren
  13. I do not agree with this: what if you are in an emergency situation, wrap, entanglement, whatever, and you manage to release your main but are not able to pull your reserve??? I know this won't be a daily issue, but for me, I am jumping with an ADD. I consider my life worth every penny of it.......... Caren
  14. i am using it for over two year too, especially in combination with my bulletcam since it has analogue-in very good cam! I recently bought a second one, as backup Caren
  15. I'm using a belly-pouch, whcih is just large enough to hold the sone camcorder (TRV33) and a battery pack for the camera. A cable is going via the inside of my jumpsuit to my neck, were can plug it into the plug of the helmet. The plug is just strong enough to hold the tension of the opening (riser strucks, I am doing crw) and not tight enough to give me troubles when I have to release my helmet see pictures in the about-section of my web site for more info Caren
  16. hi stefan, thanks for replying to my question. In the mean time i practiced also my french and got some reply's from the coupe de france. So we have now real practice material
  17. Hmm, I think i made a translation error...... what i mean is the draws of a competition, so the sequence of formations for one jump. including the scores that were flown. This to use as training jumps, including some sort of way to compare our scores with others. so, anyone? Caren
  18. Anybody know were I can find some examples of scores AND drawings of a CF2 competition? Omniskore has the skores, but no drawings. Also other competitions only show the score, no drawings. So any example of a complete combination is welcome. Caren
  19. Rule nr-1: get some CW experience yourself, learn to fligh and learn to anticipate. It's my own experience that being close by gives not only nicer pictures, but also gives me more room to anticipate: although that sounds maybe strange. But if the formation has a quick move to the right or left, you'll stay close... while if you are already far away, you will endup so far behind that it can be hard to catch up... just my 2-cents. Caren
  20. that really depends on what the formation looks like: a normal 4-way will decent almost as normal as one flying canopy. It is my opinion that the best canopy you can fly is of the same type and wingload of the canopies used in the formation. Use some frontrisers to get lower and closer, and steering line input if you end up too fast or want to go up. Also, the burble of the formation can be a good place to be in order to stay with it.... For the video footage it is best to keep a straight line as much as possible, so without doing too much of sashays For still pictures, you can have multiple angles and places to be. Sometimes you want to have that complete formation, but sometimes you want to make a 'different' picture, inside the formation. I added two examples below. Furthermore: get some CRW practice yourself! it will help you a great deal in making better footage and unusual shots. Caren
  21. As promised, some pictures taken with the peleng. I had some problmes with the exposure, so please doo not look at the colors. Since the lens is completely manual, I finally switched to Av mode. I am still searching for the best focus state (almost infinitive or infinitive....) But the angle is nice, especially for exits and very close to formations. For me the lens is 'fun', and will not become the basic lens I'll use. Caren
  22. ??? the peleng is a still-camera lens, so what do you mean with 'flying with a videcamera'???? Caren
  23. I bought one at the beginning of this year, made some test-shots on the ground, not yet in the air. Hopefully this weekend the sky is blue again in holland, so I can give it a try in the air. Will post the result (if any ) by the way, I have a d350, and the lens is completely manual, but I guess you already read that in the specs. Caren

oh yes that was Maria :-) with a intimate encounter with Gerben We were flying way-off the DZ, sone of us landed in the middel of the town, and maria's canopy disappeared. Let's say: it was one of those days Caren
  25. I also search for a while, and the biggest problem I encountered, and was not able to solve, was the fact that these small camera's all start-up in auto-focus mode, and have a rather short 'stay-alive' time (sorry, do not know a better word for it ) Caren
