guesswhere 0 #1 July 31, 2003 a friend of mine just bought her husband a new paraglider, but wants to keep it a surprise. she wants to have it inspected because it is used and she knows nothing about paragliders. my question is are paragliders enough like parachutes that any rigger could figure it out, or should i look for one w/ paraglider-specific experience. does anyone know any colorado (denver/lakewood) riggers w/ paraglider experience? thx ------- ... rigging65 0 #2 July 31, 2003 Any rigger should be able to inspect it for wear-and-tear, but that doesn't mean they'll be able to tell you if it's in good shape (as that's a subjective term to each specific sport) or even if it's necessarily hooked up properly. We've done material inspections for paragliders in the past, it's not that big of a deal. A rip is a rip. I'm not sure how helpful it is to the owner, but at least we can tell them what's structurally wrong with the materials! vleisie 0 #4 August 1, 2003 As far as inspecting for airworthyness, it would be best to take it to someone with paragliding experience such as a local pg school. Certain aspects (such as line trim) are more critical in paragliders and needs a pg experienced person to check out. Good luck Marcel

roq 0 #6 August 1, 2003 For parafgliders is more important you know the DHV class, model, year, number of flyght hours and geral aspect that you knowing the trim specifications or other. If the paraglider have broken or wrong lines, or tears you need to repair in paraglider specialist See http://www.independence-world.com/ Glide calculator and know the value of your used glider.
