8 and Hi-8 equipment

Anyone have or know who has a little video player/editor for 8 and Hi-8 tapes for sale ? I have about 36 tapes i would like to edit and make DVD's at some point. I know brand new ones exist but since they are not so popular anymore i thought someone might have one laying around. Thanks

Buy a old 8mm camcorder that plays the tapes. Then transfer them to Mini DV then to computer, then to DVD. Thats how I transferred all my tapes. That was the most inexpensive way.

...or buy a digital8 camcorder, which plays video8 and Hi8 tapes through firewire directly to the pc...

ok,,found one and bought one,,,whats the best recommendation to make them into dvd's,,,the least hassle, do not need to edit them, just want to copy them as they are. Thanks to all

If you have an external DVD Burner, you can plug the cam straight in and burn direct.
If not, there are several software apps that do this on the cheap (ingest, convert, burn) such as Nero.
You'll still need a device such as a Pinnacle card, some sound cards have composite (the yellow connector for video) inputs on them.

The external, stand-alone burner is certainly the quickest, but if you want to go the computer route on the cheap, I believe some older DV cameras have analog pass-through to Firewire. And I'll bet someone at most DZs has an old one kicking around.
