Samsung announces a new 30p camcorder. Records to flash storage, so perfect for skydiving.
I'll be allowed to handle it tomorrow, but probably not allowed to shoot w/it.

Cost not yet announced. I collared the Samsung PR chick and she couldn't tell me.
Supposed to be $1200 or less, tho.
Pana has theirs being announced tomorrow too, but unless it's a big improvement over their last series encoder...it's nothing to get excited about.

Now this would be interesting/useful to use analyzing openings.

Indeed. All you'll need is the ability to start/stop the camcorder in the middle of the skydive, since it only buffers 10 seconds.

The Sony CX7 has this feature... it's pretty sick.

It would also be great for those jumps that last less than 10 secs from exit to opening...a lot of BASE jumps would fall inside the 10 sec time frame.

Hardly cheap at $1200. Couldnt justify spending that much, considering that I can have a tested and trusted in skydiving brand and buy a CX7 for $400 less.
