bigway 4 #1 December 9, 2007 So I got a PS3 with Blu-ray and want to make the most of it instead of short changing myself. I want to buy a new Monitor for my computer and PS3. I must have an HDMI input and this leads me to believe that this will give me true High def. However i keep seeing people go on about 1080p and 1080i. The monitors that i see all have a resolution of 1680 by 1050. Is that higher than 1080i or p?? Does it support 1080 i or p? Could someone give me a quick education on this? Thanks. .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
DSE 3 #2 December 9, 2007 Search will get you started. "Full HD" is 1920 x 1080p. A monitor of 1680 x 1050 is not a "full HD" monitor. The PS3 outputs dual 1920 x 1080 streams. Your computer monitor card may not necessarily support this resolution.
bigway 4 #3 December 9, 2007 yeah i guess it does not as it does not support Hdcp? Do you know any monitors that are 22 inches or over that support full hd and have a HDMI input on it? At the moment i have to run my PS3 through my Chimei 22 inch 22DI .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
DSE 3 #4 December 9, 2007 I'm not much into the consumer monitor side of things; most of the monitors I see here in the US support 1080p now, even if they're not native 1080 displays. I don't know what sells in the UK or Australia, for example. You might contact the guys at New Magic Australia for some input. I'm predominantly familiar with the b'cast side of the monitor world but a quick Google turned up a lot of monitors.
